I love this restaurant! Indian food is made with a lot of nut products to keep the curry rich but Sangam is great about not using nuts. I have a have nut allergy and I have never had any allergic reactions to any of the food. I love their chicken biryani, chicken 65, all the naan breads and their chicken tikka! The spice is not too much for me and it's not over powering. I believe they can accommodate your spice level bc I do like my Indian food spicy. They do have a lunch menu but I personally just love the take out. The location does have a seating area and has a buffet section on the side; it's well kept and not too overwhelming. Give this place a try, definitely try a different item each time. This is my go to Indian restaurant in Denton . read more

I suppose it's my own fault for not actually READING the most recent reviews. I realize now that all the good reviews have been over 1yr ago. But I was headed home and wanted to grab something en route for the family to eat. I glanced and saw a high rating and figured I can't go wrong with Indian food. Anyplace I've eaten had alway been good! So, I ordered Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Biryani, and Goat Curry through Yelp app. I was 5 minutes away and food was ready for pickup when I arrived, which pleased me but also made me wonder if it wasn't fresh. Nevertheless I arrived home and the food was packaged well and that was the end of the good experience. Surprisingly the food was rather terrible. And I have NEVER had bad Indian food. The Biryani was bland and hot for hot sake, like spicy and flavorless. The Nan was thick and rubbery. The tandoori was dry and nasty, like having a sour taste to it. My husband had the goat and said the sauce wasn't good. Overall I don't recommend this place. Seriously I hate I wasted $50+ with them and I honestly wish I could get my money back. Two thumbs way down. Save yourself and your money! Eat someplace else. read more

The lunch buffet is still $15.99 all you can eat, and they have such good variety in the buffet. I don't know if it's because of the day I went (Wednesday), but all of the reviews detailing "lack of variety" confuses me!! There were so many options out on the buffet, and I don't know anywhere else in Denton that will give you a healthy, diverse options for this price. The service is very good, the lady working the front is very sweet. I love love love Sangam so much. If you're a broke college student like me please come here. read more

There's not many options on the buffet. Maybe 2 entrees, some veggie options, and rice. That's it! For $18? I said I'd never spend another $1 here, but I didn't heed my own advice. So, take it from me, just go find a decent Indian restaurant! read more

First time here and had a fantastic dinner with the family. We ordered chicken 65, garlic naan, chicken biryani, shrimp curry, goat korma, and gulab jamun. Great food and friendly service. Can't wait to go back! read more

Food poisoning from chicken tikka and rude staff! The chicken tikka gave all 3 of our party food poisoning. That was the only thing we all had the same sampling of but it also could have been from the dirty cups and cutlery. Probably all the chicken was bad as one of our party had another chicken dish and is suffering much worse than us. We noticed something was off with the taste and when we finally caught one of the staff to ask about the food. We got an irritated response that it's fresh and to get something else if we didn't like it with a roll of the eye. We had already gotten a lot of food and knew we would have to pay regardless. We couldn't trust the tikka after that and ate the other stuff offered but they were meh compared to other Indian places outside Denton. Heard this place was great but obviously being really the only Indian buffet in a college town has made them comfortable to cut corners at the customers cost. read more

SUMMARY: Ummm, nope. Limited buffet choices as compared to other places I've been to in the past (esp compared to places in Artesia, CA), service is not so great, and the price/value isn't there. BACKGROUND: I've been in the hunt for good Indian food since moving here 1.5 years ago and unfortunately we have to drive to Highland Village to find it. This place is close to my work and it's disappointing. FOOD: Average at best. At the time I visited, it had been picked through, and I was waiting for fresher food. What you see on my plate is what I got. Just a little bit of everything. Most disappointing was the saag paneer and the gulab jamon. Neither was particularly good and those are my favorites. SERVICE: Lady is nice enough but pricing was a mystery up until I got the bill. I had a dining companion during the whole time I ate, and he could not be shooed away and made dining unpleasant. RETURN VISIT? Nope. read more

This place was amazing! This has got to be the best New York style pizza place in the entire metroplex. Large slices with abundant toppings served with a grimace. Top notch service. Nice, romantic atmosphere. Excellent! read more

This is the only place in Denton I'll get Indian food from, it is really cheap for the high quality of food and large portions, As a vegetarian there was so many delicious options. the curry, naan, rice, everything is always exceptional. I've ordered food from here so many times and it's always consistent! read more

Never go to this place. Too expensive for a very low quality Indian food. The buffet is very bad with very limited selection. Food is not tasty. Save your money & go somewhere else! read more

I ordered from them numerous times. I tried to order again after GrubHub was late then lost my last order. Grubhub cancelled it. I tried to order today but they cancelled it because GrubHub lost it and took their money. I complained to GrubHub that their driver did not deliver anywhere to my listed location but because they cancelled it even after it was late and lost, the restaurant said i need to pick it up instead. I work in a place i cannot just leave and get my food so i use delivery services. I called the restaurant and the lady who answered was rude, and i tried to explain it to her and she was not nice at all. I was calm and explained it all nicely and she still ripped me a new hole to breathe out of read more

I had a craving for Indian Food, so I tried this place out for the first time. I got the lunchtime all you can eat buffet for $12. Food was good, but not great. It was a bit spicy, which I liked. They had a fair amount of food choices. There was no wait and restaurant was clean. I'd say this is a good place to grab a quick bite. read more

Poor service. Over priced for the portions. Cold food. Not even a thank you after paying. This was my experience.

Such great food! Smaller buffet but it's a mom and pop and the quality of the food is so worth it. Service is great as well! I've had different people serve me and help me check out and they have always been sweet. They serve ice with their water which is pretty rare for other Indian restaurants. The only two minor negative things i will say about it is that it can be a little warm inside sometimes but not always! I assume it's because of the smaller space with the heat of the buffet & they are a little slow to refill things in the buffet depending on the amount of people inside and the amount of time before they close (3pm). Other than that, i love this place and it's definitely a go to of mine! Price is $15.99 I believe, if I remember correctly. read more

very delightful Indian food, was definitely not expecting that, kind and amazing service and overall a nice atmosphere. Definitely coming back soon read more

I love the food at this restaurant. Yes, it's kind of a hole in the wall, but lots of good places are! They have a buffet, separated by vegetarian and non-vegetarian foods. They also have a little salad bar with not much on it. The best part of the salad bar is they usually have cut up fresh fruit, and it seems always to be perfectly ripe. From my understanding, this cuisine is from south India, and I thought that was funny because it's spicy, just like our south of the border neighbors. My favorite, and I'm not remembering the name, is a delicious dish made with eggplant. I wish I could tell you more. All of the veggie dishes are really good, some spicier than others. They also offer naan bread and rice. Currently (December 2021), they are addressing Covid safety by having both disposable gloves and hand sanitizer at the start of their serving tables, and the employees are wearing masks. Fresh plate each time, of course, and you are requested to use the gloves when making your choices from the buffet. The employees are polite and not intrusive. The place is clean. They play Indian music videos on their TV, which is away from the tables and at an enjoyable volume. I'm so glad this little restaurant has stayed open throughout the pandemic. They open at 11, not sure if they are closed on Sunday. Give them a chance! You'll love it! read more

Nice small buffet. Lovely selection of the classic dishes and sides. Reliably delicious curries and masalas with a rotation of vegetable and main dishes that keep the variety interesting. Calm atmosphere with Indian music and sometimes movies on. The servers are always nice, inviting, attentive and seem genuinely grateful for your business. The value for the price is perfect. Always a pleasure to visit for lunch buffet. read more

This rating includes quality of food, time of day I went, friendliness of staff, and the buffet. I went 30 minutes before they closed, before dinner service. I actually went in to order to go, but the buffet looked great and they had my favorite out, chicken tikka masala. I walked in and got immediate stares. It was awkward nonetheless. Not that friendly or inviting. I got a variety of items from the buffet including the chicken tikka masala, Chana masala, naan, rice, tandoori chicken, and this potato curry. I even ordered samosa because that is my FAVORITE. I had to have it and it did not disappoint. The food was good for end of lunch service. I definitely want to try it when they first cook it. But they did let me know ahead of time that they were not going to make anymore because their lunch service closed in 30 minutes. The food was definitely spicy and I loved that. They keep room temperature water out in a big container on the tables. The table i sat at had a near empty bottle still sitting there. I'm not sure if they expected me to use that because they just brought me a glass of ice but I told them to get me a bottle that was full. When I got up to go pay, there were more stares. I specifically sat facing the window in a booth closest to the outside window because I read reviews saying it felt like they were on top of you and constantly watching you just because of how small the restaurant is. I literally locked eyes with this guy who works there for 5 seconds and he wouldn't budge! It was so awkward. They all just had eyes locked on me and it made me uncomfortable. If it wasn't for that, I would have given this place 4 stars. I will for sure go back, but may order to go to save myself some awkward encounters. read more

The rice was great but if your looking for Indian food don't go here. One of the worst Indian dishes ever. I could have cooked better with my eyes closed. read more

Came here for the lunch buffet. The number of selections was adequate but not huge. The flavors were all very good. The only issue I experienced was that all the chicken dishes, Tikka masala, curry chicken, and everyone's favorite tandoori chicken were over cooked and meat was dry. Also the goat was tough though the sauce was excellent. All in all was glad I came as I was only in town briefly and hadn't had Indian food in a very long time. read more

Very impressed! Yay for good Indian food in Denton! My husband and I both ordered Butter Chicken. It comes with either rice or naan but we got both (duh). We loved it! Kinda pricey, $30 BUT portions were intense we could've shared one. The food was so fresh and hot even with it being take out. Can't wait to go here again. read more

We visited at about 1:00pm on a Saturday for the buffet. The food was delicious and fresh. The restaurant was clean and not too busy. Before we left, it was packed. There is a good variety on the buffet, although "Man" I would have loved some butter chicken. Come on y'all that's a staple on an Indian buffet. Naan was hot and tasted like it was cooked in a stone oven. The tables were preset with a water pitcher which was really nice. You could sit down and eat right away. I would definitely return. The employees were really nice. The counter is super short so while your eating it appears like the staff is standing watching you eat. A little bit weird, but not in a bad way. Don't go for the ambiance or the decor. GO because the food is awesome! To the owner: although the women's bathroom was clean it needs to be updated because it looked like it wasn't clean. Spruce it up and the women will be glad you did! Bathrooms are a key indicator of cleanliness and in these parts important. read more

My go to Indian spot in Denton,Tx. The employees here are really nice and informative. As a vegetarian Indian food is one of my go to meals. I appreciate that they have a separate part of the menu for vegetarians with plenty of variety. They also have no problem adding extra spice to any of the items on the menu! This place is also a buffet and it is very affordable, you can eat until you're full. It is also very clean and very accommodating. read more

I LOVE Indian food. Love it. I love places just like this where you can get all the favorites. So I was very happy to find out that they had a lunch buffet. Seriously joyful. So I finally got to stop in and I was not disappointed. They are pretty layer back here. You walk in, and they just let you start serving yourself. It's very ideal for a quick lunch situation if that's what you need. You also seat yourself, and water is already there for you at your table, And they have a small selection of canned drinks behind the couner. To me, it really felt like a family restaurant. So don't come here assuming your gonna be waited on hand and foot. They had quite a selection out on the buffet! I really like the fact that they had the vegetarian stuff separate from the meat area. The only thing I didn't like was that there is no description of what some things are, which could be an issue if you have allergies. I tried several dishes so I don't remember everything but I do remember my favorite dishes. The butter chicken was just awesome! It was the best I've had in a long time. The gallub jamun. I've never had it before but they were great! Little donut holes just soaking in honey and sugar! The value was also terrific! I truly can't think of a better deal for the amount and quality of the food you get! Defiantly check it out Denton! read more

Sangam Indian Restaurant - Butter chicken - Indian Near Me - Denton, Texas

Friendly, very tasty food. Better than anywhere I've tried in Texas since moving here 4 years ago.

I googled Indian Cuisine in Denton, and this came up. We ordered butter chicken, chicken tikka masala and two orders of garlic naan. The chicken was scarce and tough, and although the sauces were very runny, they did have great flavor. The naan seemed as though it had been heated in a microwave - extremely rubbery and difficult to tear. I hope we caught them on an off night. If this is the best Denton has to offer, I am sorry for its residents. read more

We have been waiting for this place to open and we are so glad it did! They are freshly open so be patient but it is so worth it! We loved the samosas, the garlic naan and curries were fantastic (veg. Korma and Chicken Tikka Masala) and the price is reasonable. They have a lunch buffet (11-3) supposedly and I cant wait to go back for that because the owner said they have like 20 different things on it and its only 10 bucks!!! If this buffet is legit I can promise I will be hitting it up on the weekly. I want this place to make it so tell your damn friends and go eat this good ass food!!! If youre sitting down for dinner expect a bit longer wait time as they get things settled, but the food, hell even the rice, was amazing!!! read more

I never got to even try the food!! I went in to order and the older lady working the register asked me what i wanted, i told her..(take out) and as i was stating my order she cuts me off assuming my order and i was like no that's not what i want THEN, she said no? & rolled her eyes as if she thought i was someone else. I get having annoying customers but to assume all of us "black" customers are all the same was actually sickening. & i wanted to try the food SOOO BAADDD. Ugh i just left. read more

Got take out on their opening week and it was delicious. Had Malai Kofta w/ rice and a side of naan.
