We usually eat here at lunch and go for the buffet. Meatballs and the spinach with the cubes of cheese and the balsamic rice are my favorites. I love to eat here on cloudy wet days. The food and atmosphere are warm and comfortable. Na'an is brought around in baskets for each table. Drinks are refilled frequently. Chai tea is also available. Each table has a cloth tablecloth and cloth napkins. Murals surround us on the walls. I look forward to wet rainy days so we can eat and enjoy being here. read more

Our first time trying Indian and all and all it was a good experience. I didn't know what to expect, but the flavors were really good. My husband and I both got mild, which wasn't spicy at all. I have not been to the restaurant in over 10 years. Arrived at Sunday evening opening time. A large party was starting to form at a table. Otherwise, it was quiet with Indian music playing in the background. With no buffet option available, I ordered the Chef's dish "Karahi Tandoori Chicken Sag", which was a close combination of two favorites Tandoori Chicken and Saag Paneer. The dish was delivered quickly and I found it tasty. Only issue is the chicken did not have a strong appearance or flavor of tandoori chicken. As I was eating, , a few people came in and the restaurant prepared many carry-out orders. Staffing was adequate in that my water glass was filled before I emptied it. The reason I enjoy this restaurant is because it is the subtle peace in the busy area of Overton Square. The restaurant is very intimate with the servers being nice only coming to you when needed. We order the tandoori wings and the tandoori shrimp masala which were both flavorful. The wings had the right amount of sauce and the masala had just enough kick to blend with the rich sauce. Not to mention, the garlic naan that we order was just as delicious. India Palace will see me very soon. read more

OK, I do love me some India Palace. This is a staple for me. It could be because I live in the area, but mostly because of the customer service. Everyone there is friendly & extremely welcoming. The size of the location can be a bit overwhelming, but do not let that detour you. If you have a group of friends, they have the room for you. As mentioned, this place is a staple & I order the same thing over & over again. My typical order consist of... Papadum - if you love crunch, this is for you. Murg Makhani- Now referred to as Butter Chicken. Love you have the option of getting it as spicy as you would like. There is a good bit here & makes excellent leftovers Peshawari Naan - because I get mine spicy, this is perfect with the dish. I have also had the lamb balls, Vegetable Samosas, Chicken Vindaloo, Indian Tea & they have a couple of different mango ones & all are delicious. Honestly, order whatever you like. I am extremely disheartened to deliver mediocre news, but this establishment reflects nothing but that. I love Indian food, but I'm not really sure what's going on here. I've never had a problem at any Indian place (particularly buffets) -- the service was awesome sauce However, the sauces were anything but flavorful. They were about as mentally stimulating as my conversations with most southern men.. the desserts were dry and you could very much tell that the naan was not made with love. There are good people here.. maybe the cooks ran out of spice or cater to what southern people like? Unsure, but it lacks the western flavors I crave.. Ambiance's 10/10 Staff is always on point and sharp. Food is always impeccable. I have been coming here almost 20 years now. Never once have they ever disappointed or failed me. This is my home away from home. The same man has served me since I was just a child and I've never seen him leave or take time off. They are family to us now and couldn't imagine life without India Palace and the amazing team behind the name. Lunch buffet is the best kept secret in town (I really don't know why I'm even revealing that) however if you make it for dinner you will receive a sweet treat before you leave no matter what. Very good service, the staff was constantly checking on us, refilling our drinks and naan bread basket. However, the food was not what I had experienced in other similar Indian buffets; it lacked the strong spices and aromas you would expect in your typical chicken Tikka Massala and other curries. This is one of my favorite restaurants. Whenever friends are wondering where to get food at in Midtown, this is the first place I suggest. The food is amazing, but my favorite dish is the spicy lamb curry (comes with the best rice) with garlic naan. I have been going to India Palace with my best friend since the early 2000's. The food is ALWAYS delicious. We always get the mushroom Bhaji and Shrimp Coconut Korma and Onion Stuffed Naan. The food is always good and they let you bring in your own wine as they do not serve wine. Also, every time we go, they always give us the small palate ice cream at the end of the meal and it is always wonderful. Please go try this place or get take out. The food is delicious, I had Butter Chicken and a side of spinach, my guest had the vegetarian dinner and lentil soup. First the Butter Chicken was very tasty and if this makes any sense the chicken tasted like chicken, the sauce didn't overpower the chicken, the spinach i could literally eat it everyday. Only issue I've noticed is that many of the employees park in the main parking lot of the restaurant, which greatly limits the availability of parking spaces for customers. Many times the restaurant parking lot is completely full, but only a few customers are dining inside. My party was leaving after the lunch buffet time ended recently, and we observed at least 8 employees carrying takeout food to their cars as their shift finished. All were parked right next to the main entrance. Please have your employees park away from prime customer parking spaces. read more
