    PLAIN DOSA

Luxury mixed with heartwarming hospitality - that's how I would describe this place. Each dish came out beautifully plated, piled high with food, and sizzling fresh. I couldn't help but admire the dishes other tables were receiving as well! We started with the samosas, which came with a fresh green sauce. Then we enjoyed a fresh, crispy dosa with sambar and chutney. For our mains, we had the chicken tikka masala and the chicken mughlai. Both were huge portions! The food was highly flavorful, fresh and delicious. I can't wait to come back.

Went to Cafe India today for lunch with friends. We enjoyed ourselves tremendously with the 35+ items available on the all you can eat buffet bar. My favorite was the butter chicken with basmati rice. I also had the fish that had a lot of bones but still flavorful. I had a dish with chickpeas that were very tasty and vegetarian, and some type of chips that reminded me of veggie chips but better. I totally forgot to take pics of my food as I was very hungry. Everything was delicious and seasoned well. I like this place a lot. Good value, food, service and always a clean and tidy place to eat. The people are always so nice and helpful.

I've really come around to value what Cafe India does. This establishment will always be a favorite for expanding my horizons. The food continues to be as good as that first bite, and the service has stayed consistently good. Inside they're making changes to their kitchen and dining area, but it's coming along nicely. The food is still excellent with various delicious options. Absolutely a 5/5.

Been craving some Indian food and a sweet young man from India recommended this spot. We had so many lovely flavors: pani poori, dosa, saag paneer, chicken tikka and more. Next time I'm going for idly and malai kofta. Kia was so kind and helpful, she adds light to the room, plus is very attentive. Also, we saw about 5 people come in for their beautifully decorated custom cakes. Gorgeous! If you ever need a cake, I'd look into their custom ones.

It's been awhile since we have been here. In that time, the quality of the service has really gone downhill. We were left wondering in the first 15 minutes if we would be waited on at all. We eventually did get served, but throughout our meal, it was really lacking. The food was good (standard), but the kitchen's timing is horrid. I was halfway thru my meal before my husband got his. And the wait for to go containers and check were inexcusable. Not certain we will return.

Indian food, what is it? If you don't know. This place will not help you know. The whole menu has no explanation of what the dishes are. Just the Hindi names. I'm sure you can ask if you don't know but I knew what I had come there to try. The Spinach Pakora? super Dank! The Saag-Panner? GIGA DANK. The Aloo Gobi. Dank. Serive was slow but who cares. The pitchers of water waiting on the table, that's a choice and some patrons chose to drink directly from it. But the food. Great. Try it. Level spicy is infact spicy but not mouth destroying. I'm going to have to try the very spicy next time. Though they might have done that based on who the food was for.

The place is great! Greeted as we walked through the door on a Sunday evening just before 5pm. My mom and I love Indian food especially the spice level. The restaurant is very open and clean. The hostess reviewed the menu with us and we placed our order. Another person walked over to ask if we'd been helped, another plus. The food came our hot and in a timely manner and they use the robots to bring out food as well. The main dish however was presented and it looked great. Lamb biryani with super spicy level. Excellent. The rice was fresh not sticky and a whole flavor bomb! The lamb was on the bottom but missed most of it because the bowl was so deep! A good problem. My mom had goat biryani. Same greatness different protein. We ordered 3 flavors of naan bread, garlic, cheese and chili garlic and they were very good. All three arrived hot and fresh but the surprise is this naan in thin. My mom and I had healthy scoops of the lamb biryani and the leftover looks like a fresh order. Great price point, great service and great food. I cannot wait to eat these leftovers.

I ventured over to try this Indian restaurant's lunch buffet on a Sunday. We arrived at 11:00 am, but had to wait about twenty minutes before they were finished setting up their buffet. The butter chicken was my favorite. We liked the variety. We also ended up buying some coconut cookies from the bakery. This is a gastronomical gem for southeastern Memphis!

My friend recommended this place for lunch and I am glad we came. The venue is behind the Buffalo Wild Wings and hard to spot from the street. Plenty of parking. They have a lunch buffet that looks small but has everything you need. I cannot remember the name of the items but I can tell you that there are three sections. The first section is the veggie section and it tastes great. The next section is the hot bar and has meat. Most if not all meat options are chicken. The last section is desert and salad. The service was a little slow on drinks but the food tasted great. I want to come back.

Found this place on a whim and noticed a lot of people come for the buffet. I will definitely do that next time. Seems like a great place to bring your family as they have a lot of seating and services is pretty quick. Someone greets you as so as you walk in. I ordered butter chicken to go, which tasted delicious. They ask you what spice level you want. I got mild, and it was exactly what I was thinking, basically no spice. After having the chicken I regret not getting the garlic Naan (that seem like a fav). Ambiance is pretty nice, not too loud, and most seats are booths, so you have your own table. I put a 4/5 because I did not get the full experience ordering take out. I will have to come for the buffet and update the review.

Amazing little gem in the Southwind area! The service was great very kind and friendly. The establishment is clean, bright, and welcoming. The food!!! 10/10! Five stars! The meat is so tender and delicious! They have a buffet for 14.99, and it was a delightful experience. The food is so fresh! The spices and aromatic flavors WO

This was an Indian soup like a chicken soup, heavy and Hardy.

For food we started by ordering the crawfish dumplings (crawfish, shrimp, cream cheese & togarashi). The dumplings were good, almost like a take on a Crab Rangoon but with shrimp and crawfish. For entrees my partner ordered the Big City Ramen (chicken broth, chicken thigh, ajitama, corn & menma) and I ordered the Spicy Pork Ramen (miso broth, pork chashu, soft egg, scallion, nori). The Big City ramen had a really good balance of flavors and wasn't too spicy. The spicy pork ramen was good but a bit like on the spicy side. For dessert we ordered the Thai tea dessert which was really well balanced and a perfect way to the end the meal. Highly recommend stopping by Good Fortune if you are in the Memphis area.

I haven't had the best of luck with Chinese food in Memphis so I did everything I could to suppress this unwanted craving, however, I just couldn't help myself. Little Petals pops up on Yelp as a possibility. I read the reviews and scrolled through the pictures. After looking at the location, I realized it was only an 8-minute drive from where we were. Why not, right? The restaurant is easy to miss. It sits right on the corner in an old shanty building nestled in the middle of downtown Memphis. The furniture and décor were of a standard Chinese eatery, nothing special; but the employees were warm and welcoming, greeting me with hellos and smiles. I got the black pepper chicken that came with a spring roll. I ordered an extra side of pork egg rolls because that's usually my go to. Everything was fantastic! It gives you the taste of that old school Chinese food you used to have as a kid, but better quality. The chicken was moist, flavorful and peppery. The egg rolls had the perfect amount of crispy crunch---they seemed handmade as well! Pricing is a little higher from when I was a kid, but you still won't break the bank here! As I started to think that great Chinese food was not an option for Memphis, Little Petals showed up at the right time and made me a believer!

So, Little Petals, i.e., Petals of a Peony, Jr.: no one was inside. I assume this to be per usual for 2:30pm on a Tuesday. It follows then, that the service was, um, efficient and bespoke. Ordered the pork eggrolls (very good, the sauce that came with it - oddly the perfect amount was given in a little rectangular container - made these delectable) and the General Peony's Chicken. And this was damned good. Pricey for lunch, but I could have made 2 or 3 meals off of it. A satisfying amount of heat from the szcheuan (sp?) peppers; not overly breaded so as to make it a fried dough dish, but rather to carry the sauce on the chicken; the chicken was a quality cut, nicely sized per bite. A new go-to for lunch downtown.

Hong Kong Restaurant of Memphis on Elvis Presley Blvd…read more... You know what, first impressions the Hong Kongnese owners seem like as*holes with that Ronny Chieng "Give me your money and f*ck off vibes.." but hey, you know what, they get a pass.. I totally understand....when you in a neighborhood and you once gave a damn about dining in, then COVID hits, and everything is worn down, carpets need revamping, wallpaper needs proper care, customers *some* are difficult to deal with, as a owner, you say, "f*ckit, if they want our food, they come stand in line and do take out." And so it was at that moment, having driven my rig into the WhiteHaven Plaza, making sure I didn't piss off the patrolling security and walking into this forgotten time capsule that I realized....what is this place ....social security and family help services....a dimly lit lamp of an Asian Pawn Shop owner taking orders at a window with a warm spot light on him, with green hues around...a ton of black people....hear me out, this is culture shock.. I've lived in South Dallas before, I've been around black folk...but to be the only Asian customer in line, and for the entirety of the 1 hours to 2 hours there not seeing any white people....that's a first! Well...come to think of it, living in Los Angeles over the decades...never really venture out to Compton or Crenshaw back in the days to have Chinese food, so if this many Black People all line up and spend their hard earned monies on Hong Kong Restaurant.....must be some DAMN good Chinese food. AND YES!!!!!! After placing my order and getting everything packed in a paper bag, I dug everything out went right in and I said, "Hong Kong Uncle and Auntie....you guys have EVERY RIGHT to be A**holes....Keep serving the community!!!" Food was Grade A in a Grade F environment. The Hong Kong Original Chicken Wings...you know what it reminded me of? You can't really find these in LA...it's like Foil Wrapped Chicken marinaded in Teriyaki, White Pepper, MSG, and Cinnamon, then fried. So much goodness, so much flavor, and having not had anything remotely close to foil wrap chicken since...2017 when I was working in a remote kitchen in bum f*ck nowhere RockSprings Wyoming....this was a piece of heaven! The Hot & Sour Soup...靠!!! 真他媽好喝!! Sorry translation, "so f*cking good!!!" I wanted to light a cigarette up indoors (because this place gives off indoor smoking permitted vibes) and just slowly savor the hot and sour soup packed with so much ingredients, not overwhelmed with bamboo shoots, with decent amounts of mushrooms but not those woodear shroom, this is American Hot & Sour Soup 2.0, the evolved form that fits non-Chinese people palates, and I downed an entire Large Container of it, not a drop wasted! And then I move onto the holy grails....Hong Kong Restaurant House Fried Rice and Kung Pao Chicken! Since I'm a traveling blue collared tourist, and don't really get to experience the dining scene in a town like Memphis unless I'm at a nearby Logistics Hub experiencing some down time and I get to explore town....having not tried any other Chinese restaurant and this being the only other fried rice I've tried between the states of Oklahoma, Arkansas and Tennessee....... Hong Kong's House Fried Rice is singlehandedly probably the best Fried Rice I've had since my days back in 2018s working up in Greeley Colorado with a Guangzhou Super Chef and up in Monterey California with another old timer Chinese Chef when they used to make staff meals and you thoroughly enjoyed the fried rice, every overnight grain, coated with msg, soy sauce, scallions. Onions, garlic, thrown into a Wok with High Bursting Flames, charring each grain, giving each grain that solidarity, smoking flavor....ya, this is the type of fried rice you can only experience with true OG Chinese Chefs, or at the very least, the owners need to know the elements that goes into making genuine Cantonese soy sauce fried rice. Absolute chef's kiss. Here in a worn down Chinese restaurant, with owners that really just DGAF, but they kept the soul of the food intact, they look toward retirement, maybe look towards getting out of there, but because they make Good food, and they love money more, and people just keep lining up for takeout here making Panda Express look amateur....I'm gonna say it...Uncle and Auntie are the most low key millionaires...... As for the Kung Pao Chicken, a tad bit too much gravy, but I finished it all in two sittings. Americanized Kung Pao Chicken, way better than Pandas. So to all the tourists on Yelp Questioning this place. I too have passed this place for over 30 years and never stopped in. The restaurant was very neat and clean on the inside, to go only style but, a few seats available to dine in. The service was prompt and super friendly as well as professional, prices are beyond reasonable. Now the food. I ordered shrimp egg fu young along with wonton soup. Starting with the soup, it lacked flavor, the dumplings were doughy and undercooked however I did enjoy all the veggies and pork pieces in side the soup especially the actual fried wontons. Unfortunately the dumplings were undercooked and I couldn't finish due to the gummy and chewy texture of the dough. Shrimp egg fu young is a dish that I must try at any restaurant when available this was no exception to the rule. The presentation was beautiful mouthwatering but once I bit into the egg foo yong, I got nothing but grease in my mouth. It didn't taste like anything but a bland fluffy grease pocket, and once I spat it out. Nothing but clear grease came out. my mouth was coated with a film of grease in no way could I finish that. I can only share my personal experience and unfortunately it wasn't great. Crazy part is I'm not opposed to giving them another shot with different items it will be a good while if I do decide to return but my initial experience wasn't the best food wise and although cheap it was a waste of money because it all went into the trash

I live in the Mt Moriah area and drive all the way out here for takeout. So on this visit, we…read moreordered shrimp egg fu young, fried rice add broccoli. Wit 2 egg rolls. The egg fu young patti is a fluffy egg loaded with shrimp and bean sprouts, smothered in thick brown gravy. Fried rice with onions and broccoli florets. Babeee, this meal did not disappoint. We called it in, and left the house to come pickup. It was still hot and moist once we made it back home. And it was under $20.. I'm a repeat customer. I definitely recommend.

Went in for an early New Year's Eve dinner. This place has been here for years; I see it as an…read moreeast Memphis institution. The inside is eclectic, it's not fancy...though this isn't a bad thing. It's a nice escape from the run-of-the-mill Chinese take-out places (where you can eat inside also), it's not trying to be corporate-flashy. Best I can describe it is authentic to the people who own the joint. And I like it; a couple of fish tanks, some kitsch, the odd neon signs inside (over the bar, on the west wall towards the rear), the unused area to the right of the bar. Somethings work, something's are out of place, but it's a testament to the longevity of the location. So the food: the value is great. The apps were middle-of-the-road (sweet fire shrimp, spicy cucumbers (sans spicy but ponzu), spring rolls. The stand out was the hot and sour soup. Nothing really novel about it, but exactly what I was looking for. As the duck sauce was a bit sweet for the spring rolls to my liking, I found it necessary, and delicious, to dunk the spring rolls in the hot and sour soup. The Scientist had her usual kung-pao chicken. Really good, if not a bit basic (though the slight notch up of heat from the Szechuan peppers was appreciated). I went with the Peking duck. It's the most expensive thing on the menu (as it is everywhere else), but worth it. This is going to feed 2-3 or a big meal there and a healthy portion to take home. The skin crispy, the meat moist. Bones removed, but for the wings and thigh bones...it was appreciated. Served with Chinese pancakes and onions and a delightful hoisin. Highly recommended. The staff was delightful. Efficient (if not a little too efficient; we had two servers ask for our order), attentive, hospitable. We don't really have a go-to for Chinese food. Despite being out in Gtown, this may be our new default for Chinese eat-in or take-out.

I asked for no noodles, but they still put more noodles than soup, the entire order left a lot to be desired. This was takeout, will give them another try, hope it was just an off day.
