I really want to like this place because the food is excellent, but customers shouldn't feel like an interruption when they're trying to place an order. A little attention to the people actually standing at the window would make a huge difference.

The tikka masala was perfectly spiced, and the chicken was tender and plentiful. Served with a generous helping of basmati, and including a side of (just one) piece of naan, it satisfied my craving for Indian food and paired surprisingly well with my Uncommon California Common. The owners were friendly and helpful, and when I was told the food would be ready in 6 minutes, they impressed me by having it ready in about 5 minutes and 45 seconds. I will happily buy food from Mix Masala again.

The portion was mostly salad, with very little rice or chicken. The chicken lacked any real flavor, and the sauce was thin and watery--far from the rich, spiced curry typical of a tikka masala. The server recommended the blintzes so that's what I ordered. When they arrived she told me that if I didn't like them they would switch them out which was a nice offer but I absolutely loved them. I also ordered the fancy Vienesse coffee which was a true treat! Overflowing with homemade whip it was amazing, but not super hot. My hubby ordered the Buttermilk breakfast which was two pancakes, one egg, bacon, fruit and included coffee and juice. The house coffee was delish which was a very nice to have. He also ordered a side of sourdough bread which was amazing with the homemade jelly. My daughter ordered the kids chocolate chip pancakes and devoured them. The only complaint was that it was a little on the spendy side, but when you consider that it's literally all homemade ingredients it's absolutely worth it. I was weary of trying this place as I had heard from others to not bother with ANY Indian restaurants while in Bellinghum. However, family wanted Indian, and this place offered a lunch buffet, so figured there may be something that we may be able to eat. Upon entering, we were immediately greeted and seated with one of the waiter who explained everything and off we went to the buffet area. There was plenty of veg & non-veg variety of main dishes along with one starter and sides. There were dessert option along with. ALL of the food (we had veg & non-veg eaters in our party) was absolutely delicious and freshly made, and the naan was always brought to our table hot & fresh in a timely manner. Our waiter came back every so often to check on us, water was timely re-filled, and our used plates immediately picked up. Overall, one of the best Indian restaurants that I've ever gone to for buffet while on vacation! Great customer service, and the buffet is reasonably priced! Well done India Grill!! read more

I know it sounds crazy to the point where I need to be wheeled off in a straightjacket to the psych ward. Let me tell you all, I have experienced better-than-great Indian food in my day. The kind that transports you to a magical Indian land of curry and cumin and garam masala intermingling in a spice-themed mixer on my tastebuds. This particular experience at India Grill, on the other hand, transported me to a land of tepid food that could have been about ten times spicier and quite a bit fresher. The chicken was a shade of pink indicating it was undercooked, but it did not lead to any vomiting in the bathroom or other symptoms of food poisoning so it must have been fine. The food options seemed limited but I didn't spend a lot of time looking over the menu. The prices were very pricey for the quantity of the food they offer. read more

Start your meal off by ordering some authentic tasting Nan bread, baked fresh in their special clay oven. I've also sampled some of their teas which are both flavorful and unconventionally appeasing (if you're looking to try something new). The staff seemed quite friendly and the restaurant has a laid-back ambiance to it. A good place to take a few friends or family for a pleasant meal. Looking at the menu, prices ranged from a more economic meal to something more lavish offered with an all inclusive 13 course dinner. Not many options for decent Indian Cuisine in the Bellingham area, India Grill will satisfy the need if you have "the craving." The $8.95 Lunch Buffet offers a nice array of meats, Long Grain Basmati Rice, Raita, Special Dal, Nan and House Salad. The owner, himself, presented us with their freshly made and very delicious Nan bread. It was my husband's first time and my second, eating there. He really liked their barbecue chicken, rice and Nan. I went with almost everything on the buffet and also find that curried chicken, vegetables and salads are not overly spicy. Also enjoyed the same items my husband liked. Noticed on their take out menu that their regular menu include appetizers, soups, salads, Tandoor, seafood, lamb and vegetarian specialties. Coming from Seattle, I was shocked to find that there aren't more Indian restaurants in and around Bellingham. Luckily I came across the India Grill located right in the heart of Bellingham's downtown. The intimate, friendly service of this family owned business can't be beat, the exotic copper serving dishes are beautiful... and, of course, the food is damn near amazing. As a self-proclaimed connoisseur of Indian cuisine, I can say that their tikka masala sauce has achieved the perfect balance between creaminess and mouth-watering herbs and spice. I came to visit friends and took all of them out to a indian buffett. I though it was cheap enough to pay for the party of 10 since they took me out before. Anyway, we all walked in like troopers just getting off the truck, and the waitress just about fell over when she saw all of us. Anyway, so we got drinks all a round nd the waitress suggested we get pitchers so we could have a little convenience as to having access to our drinks. I though that was pretty cool of her. India Grill!! If you're looking to get some curry i recommend this place. I have came here for many years and it's still amazing till this day. I don't think I've ever tasted such great Indian food. I never liked Indian food until one day my partner brought India grill food home, and ever since that i loved their food! The meat is tender with a lot of delicious flavors and as for the veggie rice it's excellent. The owner Santo is a swell fellow man and his wife is a sweet lady. They make you feel right at home. Awesome food, awesome price, and the owner is a nice guy too. I complemented him on the kheer, (which he claims to be the worlds best, and I agree!) and not only did he let me in on some kheer recipe secrets, but he told me all sorts of cool stuff about the way it used to be growing up in India. The lunch buffet is unbeatable, and my only concern is that I ate way too much. I had to try all six dishes, and somethings twice (including the kheer of course). Came here for Thursday night dinner with a friend to give them a shot -The Currys are extramly salty inedible - I found a white hair in one of the curries. - Some of the dishes here had a stale oil aftertaste - The briyani was seriously lacking in flalour and taste like nothing like a real briyani. - The table which was given to us is not at all clean & we ended up cleaning ourselves before seating.( I think there is only one old guy work here he take care of cash, waiter, kitchen, & maybe dishwasher too) -about the only decent thing is water lol.. read more

Tried the booth at the farmers market and it was great, especially the samosas...which could compete with the best of them. This encouraged me to try the lunch buffet and once again I was impressed. The food was similar to that of the farmers market with delicious chicken curry and saag. I never had rice pudding before and was curious to try it. I fell in love, it was soo good I couldn't stop getting refills. The best part was that it was all you can eat so I could have as much as I wanted. Fantastic, authentic food for an unbeatable price. The curry dishes are all well spiced and juicy, you can cut the meat with a fork, and the naan always comes out fresh and hot. The atmosphere is relaxing and inviting and the service is warm and welcoming. Small and family run, but that's the way we like it. My friends in Bellingham recommended India Grill to me since they always enjoy the buffet there. I love indian food so we went for dinner and it was amazing! The chicken tikka masala had a nice spicy sauce. We had kabobs that came sizzling out on a platter, and the meat was so tender and moist. The nan was some of the best I have ever had! I came to Bellingham to visit a friend and he suggested we try the India Grill. As we sat down the waitress gave us drinks right away and asked if we would like the buffet. So we did indulge in the buffet, the prices were very fair and so many choices to choose from. The taste and spices were incredible and the food was so authentic I though I was really in India. This is the best Indian food I've ever had, it's completely authentic. If you want to know what Indian food is really like go here. I ordered just a simple curried chickpea dish with rice and was so blown away I had to order more. There homemade cheese is so tender and flavorful. It's rare when the owner of the restaurant actually takes the time to talk to the customers, but every time I am at the India Grill, this happens. Pho with chicken, Vegetable Pho with tofu were both excellent. Quiet despite 1/2 the tables were occupied. Light flow of people getting To Go orders. The walls are a bit bland with just different color paint and not one picture or decoration. We will be back....for the food.

At least the pho I usually get and eat. But mind you I was trying to be nice as possible and calm but he went straight to yelling. He did still end up charging me but that's beside the fact. I just thought it was crazy for him to start yelling at me in front of my kids and all the other customers bc I didn't like the food, also I tried to say it quietly so I didn't embarrass him and bc I purposely didn't want to make a scene but he did just that!

The inside is nicely decorated. It even has a bar area if you want a cocktail and apps for casual dining. This is my go to place for Pad Se ew now!
