He ran away with $4k. No countertops installed and kept saying he's out of town. I'm hiring an attorney.

An absolute 100% fraud. I gave Charles my 50% deposit for new countertops, he kept using excuses as to why he couldn't install, after canceling on me four times he now is refusing to return my security deposit. I am in the process of taking legal action against him. Do NOT work with this company or Charles. read more

I was doing a complete kitchen rehab and needed new quartz countertops. Charlie was kind, attentive, and helpful from day one. He helped me think through the design, the thickness of the materials, and even let me change course after I'd made my first decision. His partner/employee, Carlos, did a great job with the install and even offered to come back if I had any problems (none so far). It seems like there are a few bad reviews/experiences here, but I can honestly say that working with Charlie was a great experience and I'll be using him for any other future projects. read more

I followed up on my negative review of Independent Stone, and Charlie Gibson by filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. After a month I was told he didn't even bother to reply to my complaint. I think that says a lot. If anything I said wasn't true he had the opportunity to defend himself. Even he couldn't lie his way out of the truth. And as quite a few other customers have confirmed the man is a liar thru, and thru. Buyer beware! read more

I wish I could give this negative stars. I am BLOWN away at the audacity and amount of lies Charlie told us. Charlie has left us in tears, with a HUGE mess, and taken payment from us without giving us product we paid for. First, let me say that we know the job was not easy. We have an old house and the bathroom was not an easy task to tackle BUT.... Charlie has done us a major disservice. Charlie told us the job would take 3 weeks. We are now on week 7 and Charlie has ghosted us and left us with a major problem as well as taken money from us for products we did not receive. The gentlemen Charlie hired to do our tile work were consistently late or did not show, messy workers and inconsiderate of our space. Once the tile was "done" we didn't feel like it was really finished or done well, but we naively didn't know. We assumed we were ready for the next steps: 1. Install shower glass, 2. Reinstall faucets/fixtures. On Sept. 14 we paid Charlie $1700 for shower pieces he ordered for us. As of October 15th we have not received them despite him saying he was going to drop them off on October 9th. Furthermore, Charlie told us that at 2pm on October 8th the shower glass installer was going to arrive and re-install our glass. I ended up contacting the shower glass intaller directly and he told us that he was not even ready to install our glass, Charlie had not told him we needed it that date... so Charlie not only lied to us but grossly lied made up a BS story. Upon further inspection of the tile work we realized that a large part of the job needed to come out and be completely redone. Once we did that, we then realized that the shower floor was not at all properly leveled and water is not draining.. once we realized that the floor wasn't leveled we also realized we needed a plumber as our shower drain was FILLED with drywall and construction debris. We have continued to give Charlie MULTIPLE chances to make this right. He has literally stopped responded. Honestly, I do not care because I do not want him or anyone from his team in my house ever again but I am appalled and disgusted that he took payment from us, told us the product was arriving on a certain day and has yet to bring us the item or proof of purchase. read more

The owner's employee, Carlos, saw my FB review and reached out to me to finish the job. Carlos was very apologetic, professional, and in one week finished the job I had been waiting months for. Even after putting me through all this trouble, the owner (Charlie) had the audacity to try to add $150 onto the quote we had agreed to. Luckily, Carlos honored the original agreement. read more

Our nightmare with Independent Stone started on January 18th, 2017 and was recommended by Jay Forsell. Charlie Gibson came and picked up our $1900.00 deposit, the check was cashed the same day...from that day it has been nothing but lies. They had many excuses as to why my countertops could not be installed....from being in jail, to getting their days mixed up. Finally we asked for our deposit back. Charlie promised to drop it in our mailbox 4 different days. He never delivered any check. No one has tried to make anything right....I have since gone to another company, my whole remodel is over 7 weeks behind. This has cost my family a great deal. I'm contacting a lawyer and hope that when customers see this they stay very clear of this company. We gave them many chances to make things right, they are liars and scam artists. read more

This is in response to the Review I received from Chris G his company is Aim High construction, Inc. out of Elmhurst il. I will agree with some of his statement like I will not replace the kitchen. First the contract that he received and the color that was stated in that contract was the color that was used. I again will admit that he did text me a different color and I did not see it. But again the contract was resent the day we measured he reviewed it and signed it. Not to mention I was sent on two jobs that he said I could start so I measured them both needless to say both jobs where canceled because he was kicked off the job. The cost for canceling is 400.00 per job after the measure is completed. Then we did a job in Glenview that there where numerous changes and extra charges he agreed to pay everything on completion and he was begging us to finish early so we stayed to 2:00am to complete the job. The next day we called looking for payment and guess what Chris would not answer the phone then only to find out he left to Mexico so I didn't get paid for a few weeks and when he did pay he shorted me the extras of like 900.00. So as of right now Chris owes me $1,700.00 . I know that I am not perfect and my company also makes mistakes but I can honestly say if I really felt I was to blame or at fault I would fix it. But after reviewing all the jobs we had done with Chris and all the problems that we had to deal with on every job I really can say I do not feel at fault or liable for this misfortune. read more
