    AmeriWest Electric and Solar

I have used AmeriWest multiple times over the past 8 years. Replaced power panel, added can lights,…read moreadded ceiling fans, added RV outlet. Resolved an electrical issue in my kitchen. Bathroom floor heater circuit, (not the heater itself, tiling company). The staff is friendly, Jim has followed up personally to check the work afterwards on several of the jobs. This is who I recommend when someone needs an electrician.

Last year, AmeriWest was working on wiring an additional dwelling unit and basement remodel for us…read more During this time, the Electrician (who was an apprentice) and the Project Manager would show up randomly for short periods of time. The Electrician never worked longer on site than an hour or two and then would disappear for the rest of the day. This went on for about a month until they ghosted us. The job wasn't complete and numerous portions of the quoted work hadn't even been started. We had paid a deposit, but nothing more. After not being able to get in touch with Ameriwest (this will be a theme) to get them back out to finish the job, no response to phone calls or emails (later found out they had fired their Project Manager), we hired another electrician to start/finish everything for us. We learned that the Ameriwest Electrician had neglected most of what was listed on the work order. The new Electrician worked quickly and completed the job in one week's time, putting in full days. We paid them and scheduled an inspection. At the inspection, we learned that the Ameriwest Electrician had damaged the structural integrity of our floor joists and a load-bearing wall, drilling too many holes too close together. We failed the first inspection due to this and had to pay our contractor to replace/reinforce the lumber that had been damaged. After fixing, everything passed inspection. Months went by and then we began receiving bills for the full estimate from Ameriwest, as if they had completed the work. We could not reach Jim, the owner, or Ameriwest via phone or email, though emailed billing statements would arrive to us almost weekly. After having had enough, I sent an email reply to Ameriwest's admin email account stating that we would not be paying this bill unless it was adjusted to show the work that was actually completed by Ameriwest and that we needed to receive this by a specific date. We would consider no response to mean that our deposit covered things in full. Billing statements stopped coming...for about 2 months. As the billing emails began coming again in fall of 2024, still listing the full estimate as the total, we ignored them for a while. Then I emailed again stating the work hadn't been completed. The bills stopped until spring/summer of 2025, and then they started again. I called Ameriwest again and had my mind blown when someone actually answered the phone. I was quick to explain the situation and the receptionist was just as quick to pass my call on to Jim. Jim apologized and said that we shouldn't be billed if the work wasn't completed. He wanted to talk to me more and gave me a cellphone number to text him at. I was on a backpacking trip the following week, but texted Jim as soon as I returned. Only to receive, you guessed it, no response. But the bills stopped coming...until today. Today we received another emailed bill for the full cost of the estimate plus a $500 late fee and a threat to put a lien on our house if we didn't pay. I have once again emailed, called, and texted. No response. If you have electrical work that needs doing and you want a business that is professional, HAS customer service, and will complete the work in a timely fashion, RUN away from Ameriwest!

The sales rep, Tyson, used manipulation tactics to get me to "lease" the solar system. He told me…read morethat it would raise the value of my home as soon as it's installed. He also told me that it makes buyers more interested when you have solar. Also, he told me that the system would SAVE ME MONEY- BUT NOT TRUE!!! ALSO, it's not FREE!!! It's only free the first 18 months, after that it's going to cost me MORE than just regular power bills. Now I am stuck paying for a $26k solar system for 30 years that puts a LIEN on my HOUSE and makes it nearly impossible to sell my house!! Nobody wants to take over a loan for a system that doesn't even save them money or increase the value of the property. Plus, when I need to replace my roof in the next few years, I'll have to pay over $10k extra just to have the panels removed and reinstalled!! There is not enough sunshine in WA to provide enough energy to power my home, so now my average power bills are about $600 more per year than they were before I got solar! Plus I have this huge lien on my house! What a total headache!!

Please do not do business with this company. The sales representative made claims that caused us to…read morelease the panel that were blatantly fraudulent. We were told the panels would reduce our total energy costs by 85%. They have more than tripled. It didn't even reduce the electric bill by half. We were told the payments would be fixed for the entire lease. They increase by 50% after the first year. If you lease through Good Leap, you pay almost the entire value of the solar panel in interest. You will not be able to sell your home unless you pay the lease off in full. Any buyer will run when the reality of the lease becomes clear. There are Reddit groups filled with people that have been deceived by this company. It has caused a huge crisis in our lives. Do not trust anything a sales representative says. Please don't make the same mistake we did.
