After an eventful day around SC, we worked up an appetite. We were in the mood for Italian, so we chose here. When we arrived the host asked if we had reservations as they were booked for the evening. It was kind of funny because it was empty at the moment. We didn't have reservations so they offered the bar inside or outside. We chose inside. We were outside all day and needed a little cooling off. The restaurant itself is very nice, maybe a little elegant looking inside. Outside is like a party zone. Large green turf area for corn hole, large bar, outdoor seating everywhere. Some under cover and some open to the weather. There was actually a group of young women having a farewell party. So yeah, party zone. It didn't take long for the restaurant to get full. All of the reservations arrived. It looked like a crowd older than us. I guess there was a show or concert they were all going to. Not sure who. The bartender served us waters and we declined alcohol. Wife ordered some pasta with a pork based sauce and an egg on top. We couldn't pronounce the name of the dish. Sorry. I orders the spicy sausage pizza and extra Parmesan cheese. While waiting for our meals, we enjoyed conversation and watching the restaurant fill up. When our food arrived it looked so good! The artisan style pizza was absolutely amazing. The base was a red pepper paste and a lot of spicy sausage. The wife's pasta was handmade linguine noodles with ground pork sauce and a fresh yolk on top. We were very pleased with the flavors and textures. Both dishes were excellent. We enjoyed our time here so much we forgot to take pictures. There are a few other Italian restaurants in the area, we just randomly chose this one. Highly recommend the meatballs- we liked them so much we got a second serving. The melon salad was over dressed with vinegar so it was hard to taste the sweetness of the watermelon. Unfortunately the salad came out AFTER the pizza...approximately 10 minutes later. Obviously this is odd...well at least to me We even got dessert and split a coffee. The dessert was good ..l it was coconut strawberry flan like dessert. It was okay except for "cinnamon toast " like crunchy items and the description of "macerated strawberries " . (Which sounds gross from the medical definition of "macerated"-- I digress). Overall both coffee and dessert were good..but again the timing was off. Coffee came out way too early or the dessert came out way too late--as we think it's nice to have something sweet to accompany your coffee. What an experience! Great food, attentive service. We had a party of 4 before a show at the Peace Center next door. The host let us know they would hold our leftovers and we could pick them up after the show -- we didn't end up having any, but what a great service! Will definitely keep that in mind for the future. The staff kept our deadline in mind so we got to the show in plenty of time. So many amazing food and drink options, it was hard to choose. The wine and cocktail lists are enough to give you options but not overwhelming. Food has something for everyone, all Italian options. We tried the focaccia with ricotta and Caesar salad for starters (not pictured, we were so hungry!), then the agnolotti and pansotti pasta dishes. I will be dreaming about the pansotti. The agnolotti was good, although a bit sweet for me and a small portion size compared to everything else we had. A friend ordered the sausage pizza and it was a generous personal portion big enough to share. For dessert, the affogato. Ice cream could have had more vanilla for me, but still a delicious end to a scrumptious meal. Ambiance reminds me of a sunny day in Italy: lots of blues and whites, tile, and wood surfaces. What a wonderful evening! We arrived at 530 for a 6pm dinner seating that we had booked the previous evening. We were greeted by a sweet hostess and manager. They were able to seat us immediately and INSIDE which was so wonderful since all that appeared open online was outdoor. Our waitress, Beth, was an absolute gem and she recommended plenty of options. One of my favorite spots both for pasta and for brunch. Their seafood/ squid ink pasta is so good. They have a delicious classic brunch with eggs and bacon. What elevates it for me is actually the side salad that comes with the brunch, which has a great light salad dressing on it, as well as the breakfast potatoes. Had reservations for dinner on a Thursday evening, we were about 10 minutes late for a party of 5 as the event that we were attending ran over, we still finally sat about 35 minutes past our reservation time. I ordered the 1/2 of chicken, that was to have corn, spinach, okra and lemon. I received a chicken breast and a smaller piece of chicken with only okra for my $32. Not sure what happened to the rest of the chicken and my veggies!! Chicken was good, but that was an expensive chicken dish. Portions sizes have decreased since our last visit which was phenomenal. Yesterday was our first time dining at Indaco. We made reservations easily on their website for us and my parents for a nice dinner before the holidays. Ambiance was great, as well as the location. Right downtown very walkable to everything. Our server was friendly but could have been more attentive and timely with the few things we had asked for. The food is why I'm giving this review only 3 stars which was a bummer for all of us. We started with the focaccia, the bread itself was great but the whipped pumpkin spice ricotta is where they lost me. It took away from the bread and was not good by itself so we asked for olive oil and balsamic to enjoy the rest. My fiance ordered osso bucco, honestly the worst we have ever had. It was so dry and hard, almost no sauce to accompany it-other than its own grease which was pooling around it. I had the radiatori, it wasn't bad and probably the best dish we ordered but felt it was average at best and could have been more flavorful. My mom ordered the squid ink pasta with shrimp, again dry with almost no sauce to coat the pasta. This spot could be so great given the location and ambiance but they just really miss the mark on the flavors and complexity of their meals. I had no expectations about Indaco prior to visiting on a recent Friday night. Made reservations through Open Table with no problem. We were promptly seated and served. The restaurant is very open and features an open kitchen concept and a rustic Italian food concept. I have read other reviews that criticize the decor, but they were not shooting for "intimate". Sometimes, just look up the restaurant website to see what they intend, which says this: "Italian for "indigo," Indaco's charm extends beyond the menu and into the modern space with wood-paneled ceilings, deep indigo tile accents, chef's counter seating, and an outdoor patio where guests can enjoy live music, specialty drinks, local brews, and other small bites outside of the main kitchen hours." Well, they nailed that. Our server was Joey. He represented Indaco with five star service. Couldn't have been better. Ask for Joey. One menu option is called "For The Table" where it is the chef's selection of courses to bring for $65 per person. "It all depends on what Chef thinks is coming out well today", said Joey. So we went with this. Starting out, we had four meatballs in sauce (polpette - certified angus beef, Providence Farm pork, basil, San Marzano DOP tomato, parmesan). These were a delicious and savory starter that went well with the accompanying focaccia & ricotta. Shortly after, we were delivered an octopus carpaccio server with shallots, olive vinaigrette, crispy capers, butter beans, parsley, almonds and this was mind-bendingly good. Off the charts. Next was a wood fired pizza, the Bianca Verde with garlic, fontina, whipped ricotta, prosciutto di parma, aged balsamic, arugula. I'm getting full and it was all fantastic. But, we were just warming up, so we asked Joey, "should we get these in some to-go boxes or keep them to nibble on?" Because we didn't know what was next. "Box 'em up." Next was the pasta dish, cavatelli served with carrots, dill, rye, caraway, ricotta salata in a sort of a light carrot sauce, almost like a carrot infused olive oil. Perfectly cooked al dente. And....the main dish was a fresh catch sea bass served with cap & petal mushrooms, risotto al salto, green garlic - the risotto was formed in a cake that sat in a shallow bowl with a broth around the base while the fish perched on top to retain the crispness. Served appropriately with spoons to capture the perfect bite of sauce, mushroom, risotto and fish. Lastly, a cheese cake round on a rosemary graham cracker crust with some muddled strawberries and whipped cream. And we washed it all down with a nice Pinot Noir enjoyed through the evening. We immediately made reservations for two weeks later on a Saturday night and plan to bring along another couple to enjoy this new find! I would add that in addition to Joey's excellent service, we were greeted by two managers, including Matthew, who just wanted to check on how things were going for our evening. We booked a private room for a work holiday dinner with a group of 10. Our total came to almost $900, and I came in expecting a really standout experience--especially since this was my first time here. Overall, the food was... fine, but for the price point I expected much better. The bread was the best appetizer we had, but everything else was pretty average. My pasta honestly tasted similar to something I'd make at home, not a $40 dish. The $80 or whatever steak dish was also meh. Service, however, was great. Our server was very attentive, and as someone who served for 10 years, I know large parties can get tricky. That said, my order did get mixed up. I was initially given the wrong entrée (which they fixed), and my side never came--but at least it wasn't added to the bill. One thing that felt a little off: at the end of the meal, after we ordered several desserts (to dine in and to-go), our server brought two additional "treats." We assumed they were complimentary since we didn't order them and didn't really want them--but we were actually charged $2 each. Not a huge amount, but it felt strange given the circumstances. Zack attack... It's a good thing! Our server, Zack was amazing! Probably the best server we've ever had! He was super friendly, knowledgeable patient and enthusiastic. Reallly the entire steam was amazing including the manager, Eric, who sat and talked with us for several minutes. To begin with Zack offered us Prosecco on the house which apparently is their custom there... That alone is worth five stars! The food was just as good, we ate light just shared a pizza and a Caesar salad. You combine those two things with the beautiful ambience, including romantic, dim indirect lighting and beautiful decor, and you've got yourself a winner. My friends and I had a nice meal at Indaco two weeks ago. We sat inside their beautiful dining room, which has a very fresh and modern feel. Our waitress was excellent-- very friendly and knowledgable about the menu. The food was solid, but short of excellent. I also had an excellent martini and glass of Gavi, and we enjoyed their focaccia and olives to start. Recently visited Indaco to celebrate my Dad's birthday! He had a great meal. He ordered the sausage pizza and ate every piece. I had the Duck Ravioli pictured below. It was AMAZING! I haven't written a review in a while now, but after eating this weekend at Indaco, I had to share my great experience. From the menu - I had the Providence Farm Pork Braciole (flattened port rolled with seasonings topped with a simple, but a little spicy, tomato sauce on a bed of Polenta). My wife had the Casoncelli. Neither one disappointed. Generally, when I am going somewhere nice I lookup the menu and pretty much know what I will be ordering. Not so with this menu. Walking in, I had 4 possibilities kind of hoping they had a special that would wow me into that selection. Service - our server was great with selection recommendation, including a wine to pair with my wife's selection. Wife chose to go with a Chianti as she likes the drier, deep reds. Our server brought out a sample of the wine she had recommended and it was spot on. She should have listened... I can't drink, but did opt to try one of their NA Mocktails because two of the three sounded interesting. I was wary as other I have tried have been disappointed, This one was light and fresh with a good bit of citrus. I told my wife that I was going out on a limb because it had 'Champagne Shrub' which I hand no knowledge of. Looked it up and decided to try it. It will be great to try at home on a nice summer day on the back porch. Price Point - for two drinks, two entrees and one desert the total was $110, which is average for our date night (dinner and Broadway show at our local big theater). Considering the wife pays for the tickets and chooses where we dine, I get off easy with paying for dinner (and parking). Atmosphere - It is certainly not your Olive Garden environment. I would call it light and airy. They have indoor and outdoor seating, but we were indoors (February weather is unpredictable). Now some of you reading this might turn up your nose at this. We were seated at a high-top right next to the kitchen. For us, it was entertainment. The Expediter was 3 feet from us all night and didn't seem to mind my talking to him and asking questions to the point that he was showing me the various dishes headed out to a table. When his counter got a little full, he would raise his hand and call out "Hands", at which point several of the servers would show up instead of just having Runners. It was great b/c we got to talk to them as they awaited their assignment. It was a well orchestrated dance. We also got to watch the preparation in action including the non-stop array of pizzas that looked fantastic. Might have to try one on a non-date night. There were 5 chefs at the cook line and it was amazing the quantity and quality of food they produced. I learned this morning that I was watching the Executive Chef, Jessica Herter. She was highlighted this morning in an e-newsletter about female chefs under the article "Queens of Cuisine". I was amazed at how many of the 16 restaurants listed are on our favorites list or the "to try" list. Next months date night is to Aryana Afghan Cuisine or Keipi (Ukrainian). My regret is not having their meatball appetizer - Polpette. There were a couple of comments about too much pepper. INDACO is a true institution in the community of Greenville. It feels indulgent to be critical of a place that is truly enhancing the city, however it is my hope they might read this for constructive feedback. The space is beautifully designed, and the interiors are truly immersive and make the experience here feel special. Service is excellent. You can tell this is an incredibly busy place, and that servers, chefs, and hosts alike are all working diligently and mindfully, and that is so deeply appreciated. They care and they make an effort to create a lovely experience for people. I did notice on the occasions I have been here, it took quite noticeably long for the entrees to come out after appetizers, however I am rather patient and it lends some time to enjoy the atmosphere and not rush. I think food wise, this place deserves more like 3 stars. The food is what brought me to the review. I saw someone else say they felt the food was under seasoned, and sadly I do think this is true. It is not universally applicable across the board, which makes it all the more confusing to critique but undoubtedly, *someone*... somewhere in that kitchen... is afraid of salt. I don't know if it's the head chef, or one sous in the back missing the mark. Now, I care about the balancing of flavors in a dish and appreciating different notes. I don't want a pile of salt, I promise. I just strongly believe the *just right* amount of salt really is essential. This has been our finding on every occasion we have dined here, just to be certain it wasn't some freak accident or mistake. No, it's intentional. And its not the best choice. The menu reads incredibly well. But time after time, when the dish comes off the page, it is just not executed well and is, honestly a little disappointing. Which is heartbreaking to say, because the menu is so well informed and it all SOUNDS great, but it just does not taste as great as it sounds. The Focaccia is also a little bit underwhelming. I am just not sure it's baked fresh daily. I would honestly prefer to see a loaf from Rise Bakery or another local source provide the breads for this place, I think it would enhance the dining experience. The pumpkin puree pairing was also lacking a bit in flavor, it was mostly pumpkin, and a little runny. I would have preferred a more fortified substance to apply to bread, like an herb butter or pumpkin butter. Or maybe a trio or duo of pairings, like a puree and a butter also. Now, the pasta; you can tell its hand made. That is rare and a largely redeeming quality. It is cooked al dente, which is appreciated. But the sauces vary greatly in, again... the salt. Dear chef, please hear my humble plea. Your restaurant could go from good, to truly excellent with an investigation into how your chefs/sous are using salt in the various dishes, or other seasoning. There's something just slightly off in the execution of this menu, and it hinders me from coming back. Can't imagine how difficult it is to run an operation like this, very grateful overall that you exist. read more

Indico? More like Indic-no. First let me say that the staff are VERY nice. Ambiance for a restaurant in a hotel is elegant enough. That's where the good ends. Table for 9. For a celebration. Housemade limoncello as a spritz....pretty unsure there was even alcohol in it. Bland. Ok fine. A beer ordered was non alcoholic which definitely was not what we wanted. Again, fine. Focaccia...bland, ricotta spread, bland. Rabbit angolotti came out cold but also...hyper sweet, but also the pasta was so under cooked and I like aldente but this was...raw. Sent back after waiting 20 minutes. Gnocchi sardo, stop making words up that you don't know what they mean. Gnocchi Sardi and they aren't gnocchi no matter how you spin it but was so salty it was simply inedible. Swapped for the mussels which were apparently good. Second angolotti comes, still rather cold, but also a smaller portion? Considerably smaller? And still...not really cooked well. At this point 8 people have eaten and I'm not sending it back again what would I have gotten back 2? Dirty martini....waiter acknowledges it doesn't look right so he brings a side of olive juice (warm). No amount of adding this warm mess can improve this and after 15 more minutes I go to the bar myself and ask them to make something else, tell the bartender I'm at the table immediately in front of her...more time goes by more time goes by and I see the drink sitting on the bar. Cool I'll just go get it myself. The bill comes....everything is on it and frankly at this point I'm not just over it I'm done with the experience. Had to request items taken off the bill, I'll give you 20% bc of your policy and bc the waiter was nice and I can excuse less attentive because it was busy but the bar and the kitchen need to be trained on how to cook, season and plate. The price point is too high for the quality of the food nor the plating. The soft serve they gave the half the table who didn't have an issue had nearly no flavor and an odd icy consistency closer to water ice? Like thanks for giving the ones celebrating something but it was far too much work to have to spend 250 (for our portion of the dinner) to leave hungry, sober, and annoyed. The manager was kind but honestly kindness doesn't mend the poor showing nor does it fix the check which is hospitality 101. Could it be a bad night? Sure. Could it be this place is over hyped for no reason? Also yes. On top of which when we made the reservation there was no mention there was a music festival which meant no street parking so we also had to pay for garage parking because we had a handicapped member of our group and apparently the city of Greenville thinks that's acceptable. read more
