We worked with Avi Levanon and IND Construction to convert our roughly 300 sf, 1940s garage into a permitted ADU (accessory dwelling unit) in West LA. Starting in late 2020, we worked with their architect to determine what was possible for our lot and found we were limited to the existing footprint. I mention this because it is really important to understand all the limitations before over designing and submitting plans to the city. IND provided coordination with the architect and subsequent engineers and surveyors to ensure that the plans were correct. IND submitted plans to the city in January of 2021 and kept up with the process through multiple permitting departments for the next 17 months to June 2022, when the city approved the final permit, and we were able to begin construction. IND started construction July 6, 2022 and within a week had done all demo and poured the foundation to support the new exterior wall. We were completely impressed with the pace of the work. Avi and the project on-site manager, Carlos arranged for a full crew of workers to be on-site handing every step in the project. Because our garage was a slab on grade, extensive excavation was needed to run sewer lines throughout the unit and connect to the main which was located quite a distance from the garage. This required a variety of workers from those excavating the long 5 ft deep trench, to those laying sewer, water, gas and electrical lines, the demolition of the interior slab and all the rough plumbing and electrical. Every single aspect of this work was scheduled and completed expertly. Because the original structure was old, just about everything in the plans needed to be modified to compensate for uneven walls and floors. We cannot stress enough how all this would have been a nightmare to handle without Avi and Carlos arranging and coordinating everything and coming up with solutions for problems on the fly. An approved ADU requires a bathroom and kitchen. IND provided a designer to prepare the kitchen cabinet design and order for the 8 ft. of kitchen. They provided the crews to create a full shower/bathroom, complete the framing, insulation, dry wall painting, door and window installation, vinyl floor installation, tankless water heater and mini-split heating and air conditioning. Every person working on site was completely professional, efficient, knowledgeable and friendly. We were responsible for a lot of sourcing of materials like tile, a quartz slab, doors, window, vinyl floor, bathroom and kitchen fixtures and appliances. Avi provided a complete list of our responsibilities before we started construction and was very helpful in directing us to suppliers. He also arranged to pick up materials that weren't delivered. This organization helped to keep the project moving with no delays. The timeline for completion of construction was 3 months and even included taking care of problems discovered with our house sewer line (a really good thing!). We finished the project with approved final inspections at the end of October and are delighted with the results. A very strong component of this company, and Avi Levanon is the ability to communicate. Any call or text was promptly answered and any concerns we had were handled without issue. We felt the cost, though not inexpensive, was reasonable, especially experiencing first-hand the massive amount of work and manpower needed. Working with IND Construction as a company and specifically with Erez Shifferman (Senior Project Manager) could not have been an easier and more enjoyable process. By far the best experience I have ever had working with a contractor, or anyone for that matter. Prior to working with IND I had my master bathroom renovated by another construction company that promised me the world in terms or schedule and price. Needless to say they did not deliver. Looking for someone to help do a general renovation of my home after this terrible experience was terrifying to say the least. After meeting with Erez several times and talking through the project's scale and timeline I cautiously agreed to have IND do my renovations. It was the best decision I could have made. The renovation consisted of continuing the hardwood flooring in the kitchen/dining room (which we loved) into all the bedrooms and the living room. First problem was that the flooring had been discontinued. Not a problem for Erez. He has a background in flooring and was on the case, first trying to source the flooring from outlets all over the state and country that may have had old boxes in stock. When that didn't pan out he found a mill that could reproduce the flooring and was involved in every aspect of the design and matching, ordering multiple matching samples throughout the process and ultimately supervising the delivery. I can tell you that the matching is flawless. Beyond the flooring we added recessed lighting to bedrooms, removed fans, remodeled the 2nd bathroom, gutted closets, added and updated plugs and light switches, removed unnecessary beams, installed barn doors in each bedroom and then everything was immaculately finished and painted. Did I mention we were on vacation for 3 weeks of the 7 weeks this process took? The communication was fantastic. Erez sent pictures constantly and raised any question immediately to avoid delay. I thought that the 7 week estimate was going to get blown through, like the master bathroom nightmare I had gone through, but it was 7 weeks to the day! Communication is key with Erez. He responds in a timely manner and thoroughly addresses EVERYTHING. If Erez said it. It happened. Every time. I have friends that advised me to stay on top of the contractors and workmen because if I missed something it would be my problem. Not the case at all with these guys. They take pride in their work and any fine touches I noticed were dealt with quickly and thoroughly. What an experience! I can not say enough good things about Erez and the team at IND Construction. We have more projects to undertake in our house and I refuse to work with anyone but Erez and IND. read more

When the pandemic started almost two years ago, the most devastating impact was nursing homes. We have retired older parent in their late 70' lives in another state and we all agree that best is for them to move and be with us instead of nursing home. We started searching for builder who could take on a conversion of our pool house to a full ADU unit that would be best accommodate our parent current living and future assist living situation. We knew in two weeks our project will be completed and our parent will have a wonderful, functional and lovely place to stay and enjoy their retirement life here with us. We hired IND Construction to do a complete remodel of our 20+ year old master bathroom, which they completed last week. It turned out AMAZING, and we couldn't be happier. Erez our project manager and Allan our foreman were very responsive, listened to any concern we had, fixed mistakes as they came up, and worked within our budget. They obtained all the construction permits (and there were many since we had to gut the dang thing) and passed every inspection with flying colors. When this process started I had already ordered cabinets, flooring, and a tub, but I was at a complete loss when it came to the rest of the details, so they referred me to a designer they frequently work with to figure out the rest (a huge thank you to Ana Ozmaie from Studio Ozmaie!). While our decisions slowed the process a bit, IND was very flexible with the design changes we made during the process. As in any construction project, there are hiccups, and we hit a big one. And the way they handled it will forever make me a fan of IND and the people who work for them. About a month before the demo, I had installed cedar panels inside a closet, and unbeknownst to me, hit a shower pipe dead-on which sealed the pipe for 4 weeks (!)--and promptly came unsealed when they jackhammered the shower to remove the 2" of cement and old tile. We had a SUBSTANTIAL amount of water coming through the living room ceiling from the bathroom above, and to make matters worse the water shut off to the house was frozen open from years of hard water build up. I called Erez frantically, who immediately responded and sent Allan and Henry their plumber right away and they were able to stop the leak before we had damage to our furniture or floor downstairs. It could have been SO much worse if it had not been for them. They fixed it (one of our many change orders, ha) and you can't tell now we ever had a 8ft x 10ft soggy hole in our living room ceiling. My wife and I sat spent a good amount of time and research personally designing exactly how we want our Condo renovation to look. We have quality taste; and knew we needed the right contractor for the job to match all the design plans exactly. We searched around for many companies for knowledge, experience, professionalism; and price. I live in a 1 Bedroom / 1 Bathroom Condo (with an awesome view); with very strict HOA; so I had to find the right fit contractor for a detailed job. We are very detailed people; and picky with having things done perfectly in designs; so combining how we are with our plan to do a full (every single room) renovation of my condo on the 16th floor; we knew it would be quite the extensive project. When Dorel gave us a walk-through back in December 2022; he was extremely confident; calm; and knowledgable. IND reviews and pics online that showed their work were excellent. Quote came back close to budget; so the combination of all these things; helped us choose IND to do the work. With many restrictions in our HOA; IND provided a seamless process; and adhered to all the rules / regulations. As someone who needed to end a working relationship with my previous contractor for several reasons, I can be confident in saying that IND is a great choice of construction service in the LA area. It was a great experience throughout and the final product looks and feels exactly as expected. IND took over a renovation that was only about 25% done and was able to finish it in roughly 4 months. This includes a full bath, half bath, full kitchen, flooring throughout 75% of the home, two custom walk-in closets, as well as a custom railing and stairs. It was a pretty large amount of work in little time. I worked with Avi and he was extremely easy to get ahold of and made sure any issues were taken care of, including any mistakes that might have been made. I believe this is the key to a good experience, especially in construction, since no crew is ever going to do a perfect job from beginning to end. Some things might go wrong or you might need to change how things are designed once you open up the walls. Avi and his crew never made it seem like they were going to keep asking for more money and they never reneged on what they committed to. All of the workers who came by during the process were very nice and respectful. I was living in the house during the renovation so I had a lot of interaction with them. I received several reno proposals over the past year during my renovation and I'd say IND was on the higher end of the price spectrum, but comparable to most. I'd highly suggest you not take price into concern with your project. You'll be happier paying people who do a good job and fast, along with simply having a pleasant experience, then paying less money but never seeing the end of the tunnel. read more

4 Months ago was my second experience dealing with a contractor remodeling my house i had my roof replaced to tile, my back and front yards we totally renewed and the exterior of the house was redone. Since the first one was disappointing, I hesitated a lot before contacting any company for our project, but i had no choice because of roof leakage. My Biggest luck and i bless that day, is that the first company I stumbled upon was IND Construction, the first meeting was with Mike, and i just love him from the moment he stepped in our home, very kind, very professional (great sense of humor btw... :) he showed me REAL examples of everything I dreamed for my house, we scheduled a second meeting and to review more options for my project and talk more about the affordability, and there i met David the Owner of the company, i cant explain he's expertise in words it is just incredible, and the way he handles his clients is simply amazing, he TRULY LOVES WHAT HE DOES. They told me straightforward that i can find cheaper than them, but every penny that i pay them more i will not regret it and they promised me that they will erase the bad memory i had of my first project, I looked in their face and sensed only good cause, so i went with my heart and i signed! and I truly did not regret it! Throughout the whole project IND's team was with me 24/7, with any question and any doubt that i had, they were always on time and they were super clean. Some remodeling jobs are easy and some are harder. Mine was in a class by itself----most difficult! After 40 years my townhouse had fallen into disrepair. By a stroke of good fortune I was connected with IND Construction and even better luck with Dorel Zander. As the Project Director he was the perfect person for the job. He understood my needs and how I wanted the townhouse to look. Dorel met with me at a wonderful flooring place and I was able to select what I wanted throughout the two story townhouse. After that I unfortunately fractured my foot and later came down with a bad case of Covid. As I live two hours from the project, I found it impossible to shop for the required materials----fixtures, cabinets, lighting, etc. From then on I had to rely on Dorel and his capable crew. He communicated with me throughout the process and was available at any time by email, text, cell phone and when I was in town, in person. Dorel, with the support of IND, shared the vision of what I wanted. It is important to have trust in the person who is in charge and I had great trust in Dorel and his crew. IND Construction was a wonderful company to partner with for a THIRD home remodel project - painting the exterior of our 100-year-old two-story home and garage. In the last year and a half, they completed a bathroom addition, replaced the old HVAC, new kitchen and bathroom countertops, and a whole house up-to-code electrical rewire. The services they provided checked all the important boxes for us. We had an itemized Contract that listed all the work to be done and a budget that they did not stray from. We knew exactly what we were going to pay through each phase of the project. There was work happening at our house almost every week day, no wondering when they were coming. The painting crew spent two weeks and a lot of time and attention to detail in prepping and caulking the old wood siding for paint. The project was finished in about 3 weeks and the paint job looks fantastic! We have recommended them to friends and neighbors, one of which hired them for a total kitchen remodel. And guess what? After experiencing water damage in my bathroom from the unit above, I decided to not only restore it but also take the opportunity to upgrade the space. Definitely choose IND Construction inc! They have removed all tile countertop and splash area and replaced appliances. The countertop has many angles and has required expertise and precision. I requested an unusual feature and they were able to do it even better than I asked for. The response was immediate and I got an immediate quote on the job. I decided to have them do it because I got an excellent impression and they showed me great jobs they had done in the past through photos and online videos in their website. I wanted a special feature in my countertop and they were able to do even though it is quite unusual, also they improved my project by making it more functional. I was afraid all the corners were going to be problems but they cut the granite perfect to the smallest detail. Also, as I have done this remodeling AFTER I had recently painted the wall, I was afraid they were going to mess the wall up in pulling away the splash zone tiles. On the contrary they did not even touch the syrrounding wall and there was al most no need for touch ups (which they performed). They worked 6 days a week nonstop for over 7 months in transforming our kitchen, 3 bathrooms, 2 kids bedrooms, & our master bedroom into "a brand new house". The master bathroom remodeling started with the visit of the company designer, with whom the scope of work was determined, and measurements were made. In approximately a week, the colored 3D drawings were sent to me for approval. The demolition to remove the bathtub, toilet, 2-sink vanities, two partition walls, tile from the 98 sq. ft. floor and walls, and existing lights was done in one day. Before demolition, the hardwood floor was covered with protective mats, which were removed at the end of the day, and the entire area was cleaned. Framing, plumbing, electrical, and tile works were done similarly quickly and accurately with respect to the rest of the property. After installing appliances and shower glass, the final painting was performed. I am glad I've done this remodeling with IND Construction. Great value, perfect quality, cleaning after each working day, and friendliness of the personnel are a few things, among others, that make IND Construction the best choice for bathroom remodeling.
