Tired of A's, Ocean 48, and the rest of the same o'l restaurants, don't get me wrong they are good places, but wanted something different and boy were we surprised. Domenico the owner runs a very intimate setting and is also a great entertainer, he sings and has two band members playing Sax and the other on the piano, think frank Sinatra, dean Martin, etc. engages the crowd and just a great time. We came in at 7 and shut the place down, it's that entertaining!! Now the food is spectacular, great pasta all made in house, the starters were exceptional: arancini stuffed with braised short rib, carpaccio like you've not had before, we had a 25oz ribeye that was cooked perfectly, what can I say, it was a 10/10 for our party of 5 celebrating an amazing birthday.

The owner, Domenico, not only gives a masterclass in hospitality every night, but he truly is a warm and generous man who will ensure that your evening is special. He treats everyone as family. He provides live entertainment every night (rare anywhere these days), and when he gets up on stage, he sings from his heart wiith a talented charm and love for music. The chef, Carmelo, is a young master. His food is excellent and if there is a special...try it! He puts his heart and soul into his dishes. The staff follows in Domenico's footsteps and, even when the night gets busy, they treat us like family and ensure our night is the best. The entertainment last night was the duo of Marcelo on guitar, and Walter on saxaphone. Both are talented, seasoned professionals and gentlemen whom we have come to know and appreciate. From rock, to jazz, merenge to George Benson, they kept the vibe going all night. Obviously, I can't recommend spending your evening at Red Room enough! It's a rare gem.

It's a great place to make friends or have a cheap date night. I watch at least 2 shows a month here. If you've never seen improv before, I'd recommend watching Teacher's Lounge, which performs the first Friday of every month at 9:30pm. They invite an interesting guest to tell true stories and the performers (who all teach improv) create longer scenes based on the stories we just heard. They offer improv classes. There is a drop in class open to all levels on Wednesdays, 101 classes offered a few times throughout the year, and advanced classes. It's not all improv. I've watched drag shows, a sea shanty night, and a fictionalized beauty pageant. The theater also hosts fundraising shows to support nonprofits. They're located inside the Starlight Theater. When you enter, make an immediate left to purchase a ticket or show your online ticket. There is parking in the front and the back (off McClintock Way). The theater has two restrooms in the back.

The theater is small and intimate - looked like they're prepping for Peter Pan, which added a fun touch to the atmosphere. The all-female cast was a standout! Super funny, fast on their feet, and clearly had great chemistry. I was laughing the whole time and the games were creative and entertaining. The vibe felt welcoming and community-oriented. One small suggestion: when asking the audience for ideas, maybe give women the first chance to respond- it'd be a nice nod to the cast. Tickets were super affordable ($5 cash / $7 card [we bought ahead on Eventbrite]). Highly recommend for a fun, low-cost night out!

If this is your first time or you are visiting I recommend arriving early as the Spectrum is a large area, pay for VIP tables and sit up front, and order food before the show starts so you're not chowing down and unexpectedly laughing. They checked our IDs quickly and gave us our wristbands since we had VIP seating, which made getting in super easy. I probably wouldn't recommend VIP seating if you're coming specifically to watch a comedy show. The way the tables are laid out, you can end up with a seat where you're constantly twisting your neck to see the stage, and after a while your neck and back can definitely start hurting. I actually think sitting a little farther back would be a better experience (and it's usually cheaper too). Unless you're hoping to be part of the crowd work, you really don't need to be right up front to enjoy the comedians. The food had a great variety, but the drink menu completely blew me away. I've honestly never seen a drink menu that impressive before. It was rows and rows of drinks I didn't even know existed. I kept joking, "I bet they have this," and every single time they actually did! They even had things like a Scooby Snack drink and Green Tea shots. Even though you order through a QR code, you can search for just about any drink you can think of, which I thought was really cool. I ordered the Strawberry Piña Colada mocktail, and it was absolutely delicious. It was a little sweet at first, but honestly, as the ice melted and it watered down throughout the show, it tasted even better. The only thing that took me out of the experience a little was the table service during the show. The servers come by to take orders and deliver drinks while the comedians are performing, so it can interrupt your focus for a moment and make you lose track of what the comedian was saying. I can't really blame the staff since they're just doing their jobs, but it is something to keep in mind if you're easily distracted. For anyone wondering about the air conditioning, I went in August 2026 when it was over 100 degrees outside. The front area before you walk into the showroom doesn't really have air conditioning since the doors are open, so it feels pretty warm. Once you're inside the showroom, the air conditioning is very cold. I was really glad I brought a jacket because it got chilly during the show. Overall, it was a really fun experience with great drinks, good food, and an easy check-in process. I'd definitely come back, but next time I'd skip the VIP seating and choose a seat farther back for a more comfortable view.

I've been a longtime Pantages attendee and while I love the history, it isn't a comfortable theatre to sit in, nor easy to travel to. Segerstrom has a large parking garage on site, comfy chairs with space, and the facilities to handle large performances. We even could place advance orders for drinks for intermission, which allowed us to take the time to snap photos at the varying Harry Potter themed areas and hit up the merchandise booth. The performance itself was incredible, the production value was beyond what I've seen in many older theatres, so consider me a fan of something new. You do have to be prepared for a very interesting bathroom line experience, everyone is shuffled into a big line that isn't super clear, but it goes quick.

The design and architecture outside and in the theater itself was beautiful and unlike anything I had visited. The staff was all super helpful and no area felt overly crowded. We valeted the car which was so convenient. If there's another show I'm interested in seeing at this theater, I wouldn't hesitate to come see it!

I give 12 Shiny Nickels 1 star. ***** MI Westside Comedy is in the alley between 3rd street and 4th street south of Arizona directly behind the big Santa Monica Parking structure on 4th. If on 3rd street, go into the food court that has the McDonald's, Candy Baron, Subway and walk thru to the alley in the back. This place is small, has a small bar, but if you go on a good night, like the Saturday 10pm improv show it's pretty good and worth it just for the comedy. I went to the 11pm show 12 Shiny Nickels, but caught the tail end of the 10pm show. If you pay for the 10pm show, they let you stay for free for the 11pm show hoping the lead in will have audiences stay, which should say something right there... 12 Shiny Nickels is described as, "Each show features twelve of the best standup comedians in a row doing their best five minutes of material. We have rotating lineup over 80 comics with a new lineup every week." The night I went was not great. If anything, most of the comics were unfocused, new, and got off the stage before their 5 min were up. I now question the phrase, "the best standup comedians" as what they are best of isn't qualified... My Boo said he would go back, I would not.

Your ten dollar admission includes an hour of standup comedy, twelve comics, and... (hope you're sitting down for this)... ALL THE FREE BEER YOU CAN DRINK. Holy moly! I don't know how they can charge so little but I'm there! Decided to check it out because Andy Dick was suppose to be there taping for his new reality show (gotta love watching a train-wreck). The doors open at 10:30pm and the show starts tentatively at 11pm. We arrived a few minutes before 10:30 and were the only people there for awhile. Next time, I'd come closer to 11. It's a little bit of an adventure getting to the theatre, it's located right behind Toi on Sunset Blvd. You go down an alley on Gardner street that looks like something out of Gothom City. A nice man is there to give you a wristband and take your $10/online reservations. You then go down some TREACHEROUS ridiculously steep stairs. Keep in mind, NOT an excellent place to wear your stilettos... Also, quite challenging after drinking boat loads of Tecate. At first, I was a little skeptical about the unlimited free beer but lemme tell you, they are not kidding! There is a bar stocked with canned beer (Pabst, Miller, Tecate, etc.) and you can get up and have as much as you want before and during the show. The show was very entertaining, although it was a little disappointing that Andy Dick didn't show. They were nice enough to let us know he wasn't going to come and offered us refunds before the show started. Not some of the best comedians I've seen but hey, what do you want for $10 and free booze? Halfway through the show they gave away free prizes to people who ordered their tickets in advance... I got a VHS copy of Men In Black 2!! Way better than the guy before me that got an at-home-pregnancy-test kit! Whoo hoo! Really nice people run this show, definitely will be back with more of my beer guzzl'n, comedy love'n friends.
