One of my favorite improv theaters. Tucked into Tustin is this amazing comedy venue filled with laughter and love. Hilarious shows to help you escape from the drama of the day or the stresses of the world. Would recommend seeing one of the MainStage shows and/or taking an improv class which will change your life for the better. Devin and Gina(owners/performers/artistic directors/wonderful humans) provide a joyful space that fosters comedy and welcomes all. They have drinks and snacks to purchase. I drank an RC cola for the first time there. They have bathrooms as well if you drink too many RC colas. Improv City in Tustin one of my favorite go-to places when I want to be thoroughly entertained and know I'm going to have some real hearty belly laughs! The cast is always so talented and since improv is not scripted it's a unique and surprising show every time and it has consistently proven to blow me away every time I go. I'm always leaving wanting more and walking back to the car saying "can you believe how quick they were with this or that?" Or "Oh my goodness I died during that one game when I nearly fell out of chair laughing!" It's an intimate little theater which is perfect for audience participation and making it so that there is no bad seat in the house. If you appreciate the skill of improv and want to get more than your moneys worth with entertainment from beginning to end Improv City in Tustin is a must see! I really enjoyed our experience here at the show, it's a great place to come for a unique date night. They offer an earlier showing that is family friendly, and a later one that is "rated R". Tickets to the shows are relatively inexpensive, and they put on special themed events from time to time. It really is amazing to see what the actors are capable of. The games they play are really fun, and audience is able to participate by offering suggestions for all of the games. They also have a couple of games where the audience members can participate more and possibly get on stage, but don't worry you have to volunteer, so feel free to sit in the front without fear of being pulled up. I actually participated and got a little prize/treat for it. There is canned alcohol available for purchase as well as a snack bar. Snacks tend to be more like chips and candy. The staff was really friendly, and the place had some cool photos on the wall and cool bathrooms. Street parking available. Overall a great night at a locally Owen spot in Old Town Tustin. read more

ImprovCity was honestly a vibe. I went to the 9:30 uncensored show (first time ever going to improv) and it was way funnier than I expected. The cast was sharp and kept the jokes coming. The crowd was really into it and they actually involved us, which made it even better. Felt like everyone was just there to have a good time. It's a small venue, but still super cool--more interactive and chill. The energy was solid the whole time. Tickets are usually $18 per person, but we got the college student discount and paid $15 each. They also have discounts for military and seniors, so it's really not expensive at all. I went to the late night Saturday show and had a fun time! I think if you're a first timer, the size of the venue might surprise you. It's not huge or big by any stretch of the imagination. It's small and intimate. What struck me even more was how much I laughed. I laughed a lot. I even somehow grew the courage to volunteer for the last game of improv on stage despite my lack of experience or know how--a testament to the group and its ability to make everyone comfortable enough to seek adventure out of one's safe space. I think this place is an undiscovered gem in Tustin. I lived in Tustin for years and worked there even longer --but had never been. I'm glad I did go, and I intend on bringing friends when I come back, so they can experience it too. If you need a laugh...go! Randomly came upon this place and it's such a hidden gem. Came to the 7:30 show on a Saturday night and enjoyed it so much , I can't wait to come back. I enjoyed how interactive the show is and you really can't tell what's going to happen. The actors are so witty and funny! The venue is on the smaller side which makes the shows more intimate. There's a small concession stand of snacks which is really nice. There's a large parking lot behind the venue which can be a little tough to spot so keep an eye out.The show is great for all ages and audiences and I'm excited to bring friends and family to enjoy it as well read more

I am terrified of being put on the spot, however, I wanted to challenge myself and step outside of my comfort zone. The Monday drop in improv class was my first experience with improv, and it was actually fun (once you get over the stage fright) and educational. The attendees had various levels of experience -- many of them were repeat customers, some of them were also attending for the first time [like me], and all of them were kind and encouraging. I came here to celebrate a friend's graduation. ImprovCity is open for private events, who knew? You're able to bring your own food and drinks though the number of people you can invite might depend on how many seats they can fit. The venue itself is clean and has everything you need from walls for decor to restrooms. There's a parking structure within walking distance so it's very convenient. The performance was fun especially since we were all adults so we got the "uncensored" version. It was amazing watching the guessing portion of the show because some of the stuff we threw out were wild and they still got it! Overall it was a fun time to celebrate and enjoy a show. VERY happy I did and I'm currently on the road to realizing my dream of doing stand up! The instructor for the current workshop classes, Erik Escobar, gives great feedback and is very engaging with all students. On a personal level the courses helped me feel more comfortable expressing myself to others. It was really surprising how fun and energetic ImprovCity in Tustin felt when I went there for two comedy improv shows. Even though I've always been a huge fan of Jim Carrey's wild expressions and Weird Al Yankovic's silly, over‑the‑top humor, I didn't expect live improv to hit me the same way, but both shows I saw there were honestly hilarious in a way that made me laugh nonstop like the teenager I mentally still am. The whole place has this friendly, upbeat vibe that makes it easy to relax and enjoy yourself without feeling judged or out of place, and it reminded me how much teenagers would absolutely love being in an environment like that. I didn't see many teenagers in the audience, which actually made me want to recommend it to them even more, because it feels like the kind of spot where they could have a great time, laugh freely, and feel included in something creative and spontaneous. I really appreciated how the performers made everything feel natural and fun, and how the audience could just sit back and enjoy the moment without any pressure. I only went to ImprovCity two times before writing this review, but both visits left me feeling excited and happy in a way that stuck with me long after the shows ended. It's one of those places that gives you a chance to laugh, feel creative, and enjoy something different, and I would really, really highly recommend that teenagers go there because it gives them a place to have fun, feel inspired, and enjoy comedy in a way that feels fresh and welcoming. read more

Imagine seeing snow for the first time and how exciting that must be. Now imagine sitting through an already unfunny improv show and suggesting "seeing snow" as a fun thing you did over the weekend and instead of the "comedians" working off that, they start laughing at you. I went to improv under the impression that the jokes were supposed to be organic and at the very least funny. I was so wrong. My friend made the suggestion of seeing snow as an activity and all the host could do was laugh at her and make comments about how absurd of an activity that is. He got the whole crowd laughing at the fact that someone has never seen snow before, mind you we are in the middle of southern california so it makes sense to not see snow. I was already bored of the show and making fun of my friend was it for me. I couldnt sit there and watch her get laughed at. The host was horribly unfunny and should stick to hosting not butchering jokes especially since he wanted to mumble everything. I wouldve had more fun watching paint dry. If you are in to cringey comedy or are over 40 years old then maybe this is the place for you. If you are young and have your whole life ahead of you just watch cringey improv compilations on tiktok and you will have a better time. read more

I got tickets for my husband and I for their Tuesday show, it was our first time going to one of these shows and didn't know what to expect. It was a great value for us only $10 each and the show was 7pm-9pm. The place was nice and cozy, plenty of seating. Once the show started it was very entertaining and we laughed the whole time, we really enjoyed ourselves. I'm writing this review as both a student of improv and a customer: I have been studied and performed improv across OC and the Midwest, and this theater's education program provides top-notch improv training from many excellent teachers in Southern California. The Artistic Director, Devin, is a master of the craft with 30 years of experience performing and writing comedy, so he always pushes students to stretch beyond their habits and strive for something they would not think up; Gina does an excellent job of training students of all skill levels to work together as an ensemble; Andrew is one of the sharpest "engineers" I have met regarding improv formats and rules, so his teaching has helped me fine-tune my understanding of mechanics and group dynamics -- and there are many my more excellent teachers. Since joining the OC improv community, I have seriously planned to take classes in LA at some other theaters with bigger names, but since I started taking classes here, I have felt that I have getting plenty of training (so it is no longer necessary for me to go to LA). As a customer, I appreciate the friendliness of the staff, and everyone feels makes all customers feel welcome at the shows. The shows are well-organized, and there is a good variety of concessions to enjoy during the shows. Finally, the location is excellent: there are plenty of great restaurants nearby, and there is abundant parking in the lot, so ImprovCity is an excellent theater for aspiring improvisers, and it is a great option for entertainment. read more

Having taken classes here, my personal and professional relationships have improved. (And I'm someone who already had a strong background in negotiation, mediation, sales, and vote getting.) Definitely the best Improv Comedy in Orange County OC! In case you don't know, this is real Improv, not standup. They take suggestions from the audience and act them out. Absolutely a garbage show and a robbery for your money. Not only is there no skill and not one laugh earned, they try to bring you into their trainwreak of a show and have you do their job. I paid to see clowns not be a clown. If it doesent depress you to see 6 grown adults act like a 2 year old child and fail miserably at it, and also pay for the experience and do half there job for them then this is the place for you. I would like to also mention that places like this are kept open by people expecting a entertainment experience and only end up staring at the clock waiting for it to end, as to not be rude to the 'talent' on stage. I was very very excited to go to this improv show as everyone has been talking about how funny it was! Unfortunately I feel like the show was ruined by the host of the show blowing a whistle whenever she would begin a scene or cut one, it was incredibly loud and obnoxious considering the concrete space we are in. The whistle blowing got louder and louder as the night progressed which was very...cringe. I love improv and have seen hosts use buzzers or bells, maybe even musical triangle? What a great time! This is like a live version of the old show Who's Line from commedy central before Drew Carry dasys. Except way better. The whole experience was pleasant and very freindly vibe.
