My sister scheduled a French manicure for herself and our mother prior to her wedding. The…read moreappointment was for 10:30, according to her calendar, but the morning of the appointment, she received a text in the morning, saying that she was expected at 11:15, while our mother didn't receive a call or text. My sister assumed she'd gotten the timing written into her calendar wrong, but she did call at 10am, just to make sure she wasn't expected at 10:30. At 10:55, she received a call from Mane Styles, saying that she had missed her 10:30 appointment, and that rather than having parallel manicures, they had booked the two appointments back-to-back. They said they only had the 11:30 slot open now, and no other manicure spots were available the whole day. My sister was nearly in tears on the phone, as she had counted on this relaxing time with mom and had wanted to gift my mom with some hand care for all the hard work she'd done prior to the wedding. My mom's hands are arthritic and painful, and this was something my sister really had planned on giving her. The person on the phone then started asking additional questions about the type of manicure my sister wanted, although she had already answered those questions when making the appointment--a regular French-tip manicure. The person started quoting different prices for gel, regular polish, and pushing my sister for decisions on the phone. This is not the kind of "service" a bride needs 2 days before the wedding. They went in to the appointment anyway, and my mom got to sit and watch as my sister got her manicure. I told them to cancel altogether and see if there was a walk-in appointment somewhere else, but they went anyway. My sister's nails looked fine, not great, and the nail tech wasn't apologetic at all and offered no compensation for the mistake.

I showed the guy my inspo pics and asked if it was going to be okay, and he mockingly said, "they're your nails" I thought he was joking and being funny but throughout the service I kept feeling burning and pain from the drill, I have a high pain tolerance but it was getting excessive. He would dig the drill bit into my cuticles and I have several cuts. He'd do it and then look up and ask, "you okay?" And then do it again! I think he over filed my natural nail so all of the heat reaction of the products was burning really bad, i mentioned it was really burning my thumb and he laughed at me. He was overall just really aggressive with my hands, I was trying to keep them relaxed but no matter what he just seemed really annoyed by me. The final result of my nails is not what I asked for but I didn't want to be rude and just told him they look awesome, he then mockingly repeated "awesome" at me and walked away. My friends nails who were done right next to me turned out great, the guy was gentle with her hands, she doesn't have any cuts, her nails look good, bottoms filed and clean. Even my friend noticed how the guy was behaving towards me and instantly started talking about it once we walked out. Overall I'm really sad with my experience, I was hoping this salon would become my regular but if this is how they treat their customers I'm not interested. I don't know if this behavior was because of the color of my hair or he was having a bad day but I don't think it was fair to treat me that way when I'm spending $160.00 on my service, I still tipped $20.00 but I will not be coming back and will not recommend.
