I had possibly the worst haircut experience I've ever had. I had been growing my hair out for the last couple of years and that was derailed after one haircut here. I asked for the length to be just below my collar bone and did NOT ask for layers just subtle face framing. I was given the most horrendous shag haircut that has short choppy pieces all over and the shortest pieces are chin length. I have never had someone take my vision and completely not listen or ask questions throughout the process she just did whatever she wanted. I walked to my car in tears and immediately booked an appointment for a different salon to see if they can fix it. Now I am down $100 for a haircut that is horrible and I have my sisters wedding to go to in 2 months... I called everyone from oak harbor to Bellingham and they were the only salon who would take me same day. The salon is nice good atmosphere, how ever it was tricky to find the entrance. I had the pleasure of working with Nicholas, he was very skilled with his shear work and helped me to get the results i wanted from the picture i showed him. My hair is a challenge for most stylist to cut and he did a amazing job. I will definitely be returning and I 100% recommend this salon for anyone looking for quality results. read more

The work this place does isn't the issue, it's the time management. The first time my girlfriend went here, her stylist had to cancel last minute due to a car accident. Totally understandable life happens!! The second time the same stylist cancelled again, and she was then put with a new stylist. It took them quite some time to attend to her, although her hair looked fantastic after. The second time she went to the new stylist for her touch up, they were also late to attending to her, sort of annoying since we work long hours (we are both managers in healthcare so time is truly of the essence) The third time, was just totally unprofessional. She arrived early to her appointment, and they told her the stylist was just cleaning up. Understandable, of course we can wait for a bit. Then 20 minutes after her appointment time rolls by and she asks reception for an update since she hasn't sat down yet. They gave her the same answer. Mildly annoyed since we both work graveyard that night, but willing to wait out just a little longer. 40+ minutes into when her appointment time should have been, she was given the same answer and saw the stylist doing someone else's hair. I called her and told her to just leave because that's downright disrespectful of the time that she took out of their day. To not even personally go up to your client and let them know (close to an hour into when their appointment time was) is also very rude in my opinion when your client can see you're working on someone else and reception said they're just 'cleaning up'. We will be telling our fellow medical field workers to seek other salons, or if you're a fellow worker, I would advise going somewhere else. read more

I just visited here for the first time. I was in dire need of a haircut to clean up some damaged hair. My hair was quite long. Hannah was my stylist, and she did *exactly* the cut I requested. Let's put it this way. I live in Anacortes. And this is where I get my hair done. This is the only salon in my opinion anyone should go to in Whatcom or Skagit. Their colorists are unmatched and Holy is a color genius, she is a must book if you are going there. The owner has spent a ton of thought on optics, it feels good in there. Tons of natural light, plants, nice music. Stations are spaced so they feel private and not boxed in. Unless I move out of state, I will drive from wherever to be at Argyle, They get blondes. read more

We saw Jessica for my daughter's first haircut. My daughter just turned 3, has a LOT of hair, and was feeling quite nervous. Jessica was amazing - so patient and kind, and worked with us to have my daughter sit in different positions (ex on my lap vs booster seat) to help her feel comfortable. The haircut was efficient and well done, and the next morning when my daughter woke up, she asked "Can I go get my haircut again?" What a win. thank you Jessica! Nick saved my emotional hair being. (Get it? As opposed to emotional well being? :D) Before seeing Nick, I tried a stylist at a different salon to save a couple of bucks. Unhappy with the cut, I saw a more senior stylist at said salon for a correction. The result was what looked like two different not-so-great haircuts on the same head. I thought I would wait until my hair grew a bit before getting it fixed, but bah! Seeing Joe Dirt every time I looked in the mirror was getting to be a real bummer. Nick was able to turn my two bad haircuts into an amazing one, and this is the second time he's been able to do a great job of matching photos I bring in. Update: I decided to call to book and had the most lengthy drawn out conversations plus told I needed to also have a 'consultation' in person before my appointment so basically come in twice. Never done that before seems unnecessary. This was such a bothersome experience on the phone, I don't think they want/need extra business because of the way they go about it. Super hard to book with- but made a booking which was then cancelled the day of. So no luck with this place. Found somewhere else now. read more

Moved to the area 5 months ago and needed a cut and color. Made an appointment online with a stylist and my mistake though was thinking the prices listed were the prices. My fault for not checking first and the stylist didn't go over pricing or have her pricing listed anywhere. Anyway after everything was done she told me the price was $310! OMG that is a ridiculous price for any cut and color. Plus did toner which wasn't asked first and it was $50! Before you go here make sure and check on their real prices and don't be surprised like I was! Not even really happy with the cut! Beware and get a price quote before! I love this Salon! I have been looking for a reliable haircut for a long time. I never wanted to get my hair cut before because I was always afraid they would cut more than I wanted. When I booked my first appointment I asked for someone who specialized in curly hair, and oh boy did they deliver. Jeannie has cut my hair twice now and she is phenomenal. She listened to my concerns and gave me a gorgeous cut that fit my desires. She is also very friendly and a fantastic conversationalist. I recommend her to anyone, she has experience and finesse that comes from many years experience, and her cuts are worth every single penny. The salon recently moved from King St. to State. They are located in the Herald building. It was a little tricky to find on my first visit, you have to walk inside the building (I thought this building was just for the paper). It is located in the far back left hand corner on the first floor. I also found out after I arrived that visitor parking across the street can be used by salon patrons. It is two hour parking but if you need longer you can check in at reception for the Herald. The space is light and airy with an open concept. Funky art work and sleek furnishings give the place a great posh feeling. read more

Mostly a low rating due to the horrible customer service. I came here because of a hair dresser I've been seeing for years moved here. But I couldn't get in with her so they gave me an other hair dresser. I drove over an hour for my appointment then once I got there they said they couldn't do everything that needed to be done that day so I had to come back a day later. Then once I got in the seat finally the next day I was there for about 3 hours. I Wanted my hair styled and trimmed and it colored. I understand it taking two hours for my hair to be colored due to its length. But I told them I need a certain color and treatment that will grow out well since I'm going to be in exposed sunlight regularly. So I got it colored trimmed and styled. But they didn't cut enough and I realized when I left I had something much dead ends still. It just wasn't cut enough. And they color lasted only about 2 weeks. I even bought special shampoo and everything I called everyday (no answer) left a message, emailed. No answer. I'm so angry. I spent over $200 there and sat for 3 hours and my hair wasn't at all what I asked for. I ended up having to go somewhere else to have it fixed. Such a waste of money. I felt bad because it was a birthday gift. No manager or anyone has done anything to help. They didn't care at all when i complained to reception. read more

Anna performed a literal hair miracle on me yesterday! I came in with a really bad bleach job from another salon -- most of my hair was uniformly over-bleached, but near the roots, the placement was streaky and irregular, with my natural dark blonde showing through in many areas. I wanted a more natural, less harsh look and I showed Anna some Pintrest images (the same ones I showed the last salon) and she asked several really good questions before starting. I really felt confident after that, because I knew she had heard me about what I wanted and what I was unhappy with. She discussed options and made a plan. I know she used three different colors on me to get the final result, which is a beautiful, natural-looking beige blonde! It is exactly what I wanted and I can't believe she took me from that vanilla mess to this in one visit! She is brilliant and talented and I won't trust my hair to anyone else after this! Oh, and Anna was also sensitive to my desire for cruelty-free products and only used Kevin Murphy on me. Respecting vegans is a huge plus! read more

I was super bummed when my regular salon canceled on me last moment. Since it was the day of my birthday, I was determined to get my hair done. After talking to some coworkers, I was recommended to Argyle in Bellingham. I called Argyle but I didn't have my hopes up because I wanted to be seen that day and I figured such an exclusive salon would be booked out for months. I was so excited when Paris could see me that SAME DAY for a color, cut, and style. Paris was amazing. She listened to my needs and concerns and gave me more than I could have ever asked for. The salon is hip and contemporary and the music was amazing. I really enjoyed my view of Bellingham from the chair as well. If I could give a higher review I would. With the sudden influx of beautiful weather, I had an urge to get my hair cut and colored! I was able to make a same-week appointment at Argyle Salon - their online booking system was quick and user friendly. Anna did a fabulous job on my hair and took the time to ask specifics about what I wanted. The color we picked together is close to my natural color, but with some extra summery glow. The cut is AMAZING - I've only had it a day so far and have already gotten lots of compliments. I love Bellingham, but haven't gone back to the same stylist twice (yet) in this town, but I think Argyle Salon (and Anna, specifically) will break that trend! I really love this salon. From the second you walk in the atmosphere is chill with music playing and awesome art on the walls. There is always a friendly face to welcome you and offer water, coffee tea while you wait. They sell Bumble and Bumble products which is nice. My stylist Meredith is just THE BEST. I have not tried any of the other stylists, however, given the attention to detail I'm sure they are all great. Not sure if they offer any other services outside hair, but they do hair very well. read more

My wife and her bridesmaids got their hair and makeup done at Argyle Salon for our wedding and she was so happy with the experience and results! Firstly, the salon was extremely responsive to her calls and the hairstylist she worked with (Elin) went out of her way to make sure that the timing of my wife's appointments worked well for her. We live out-of-state and really appreciated how easy they made it to discuss and schedule things from afar. My wife had a great experience with Elin and the makeup artist (Megan) during her trial appointment and the real thing. Both Elin and Megan were very attentive to her "vision" and questions and adjusted what they were doing accordingly. They were also so nice and my wife felt very comfortable/taken care of in their capable hands! As for the results, we loved them! Worst salon I've been to so far after moving to Bellingham. I scheduled a 2 and 1/2 hour appointment with a girl for some color correction and she wouldn't help me at all the day of the appointment. First she expected me to schedule a different 2 hour appointment weeks out. Then she said it would take over a month and hundreds of dollars for her to do it. I left in tears and had my mom fix my hair that night for 40$. Horrible customer service. Do not recommend to anyone. read more
