Where I…read morecame from, the competition was tight with a nail shop literally on every corner, which meant prices were excellent, customer service was big, and they had to have at least one Superstar at every shop. With there being very limited supply of shops in WA (comparatively), it was a bit of a shock to see such outrageous pricing, horrible customer service, and minimal talent. After a few months I found modern nails and I was very happy with their service but it was a 30-minute drive for me, so I did what I thought was best and tried out a few other salons closer to me, in hopes of finding my Trifecta (talent, price, and customer service). Alas, it went horribly wrong throughout Ferndale and Bellingham, so I went crawling back to see Hannah at Modern Nails. I am kicking myself in the butt for not sticking to a tried and true technician. Hannah Is not only super sweet, but ultra talented. And I have paid much more for much less out here in the area. Moving forward it is a no-brainer, I will keep coming back! I highly recommend this shop, and Hannah specifically for acrylics, I cannot say enough about her meticulousness and eye for detail. Also, they offer these amazing complimentary beverages that are to die for, so don't be shy about asking. It's non-alcoholic, but that doesn't mean they're not fire or craft! Some of these other places I've been to offer a "mimosa" and it's literally Sunny D with flat champagne (yuck), At Modern Nails they are serving up virgin cocktails in styyyyle and fancy coffee beverages. With their talent and customer service, it's just a wonderful experience.

I have gone here before for pedicures and that lady did same to a friend of mine left her toes sore and the polish bumpy. I treated my fiance to a much needed pedicure - which Lauren more than efficiently completed. He was feeling awkward being a pedicure virgin (and his feet sure showed that!), but she was quick to put him at ease. Afterward, Lauren was my stylist/colourist. She is a young woman, new to the salon and freshly graduated. She did a superb job with the highlights I so wanted and needed. What I like is that she takes time to really listen to what you want and then proceed confidently to deliver great service. The salon is lovely, modern furnishings, simple & very clean. The bathroom was delightfully clean as well. I highly recommend both the salon and Lauren to anyone who may be considering going. The other stylist (sorry didn't get her name), also did some colour and styles while I was there and from what I saw did a great job too!

I have gone in twice now for a full set and I had an even better experience this time than last…read more I went from having long coffin shaped nails to shorter almond because the longer nails were just not manageable for my university life style. I brought in a photo of what I wanted my nails to look like and Nina went to work. Sadly I don't have strong nails and 3 of my natural nails broke. I have the acrylic placed on my natural nail if possible. The longer nails had caused my thumb nail to break almost entirely off, but because I had super glued it she managed to save it and also my middle finger nail as well that was badly damaged. While we were removing the other acrylic form the other set my one nail broke off. But she added a tip to it and was able to make my nails seem less. They looked just like the photo of what I asked for. It was a great start to my new year! I would recommend to anyone. It's a great place, with kind people with great prices.

This is the first time Kieu has worked on my nails and she did a beautiful job. It's close to Christmas so I got some beautiful sparkles and a sweater pattern on one nail. It's the cutest! This lovely girl was so thorough and kept checking each nail after every step. I highly recommend this salon and Kieu as a gracious and experienced nail technician.

It was however too quick and seemed a bit sloppy. I was the only one in there so I didn't feel like it needed to be so rushed.
