I have been wowed by Tara (the owner) for what seems like so many years . Always friendly and professional, she has given me wonderful haircuts, helped a friend do her hair, always been smiling and helpful. Lots of us guys think that a haircut is a "haircut," but in capable hands it's not. It's a work of art. . . Through the years I've never worried about what would Tara do, but only once did she cut the back a bit short. She always knows exactly what I'll need for the next month or two. I`'ve been going to this salon for almost ten years. I was a regular when Shar owned it and i have continued to be a regular since Tara took over a few years ago. Both owners have been excellent: kind, professional, good listeners, clean, and accommodating. Tara doesn't have a mean bone in her body; all she wants is for people to be happy. She always cuts my hair exactly how I want and offers suggestions if she thinks my ideas may not unfold exactly the way I envision (she's usually right!!). She has also cut my kids hair (currently 4 and 2), which is no easy feat. She's fast, has toys to help distract them and does a great finished product. The kids love to go see Tara!! Fabulous service!! I have Tera cut my hair about every two months and she consistently gives me the haircut that I wanted. The price is perfect, even for a college kid. And their shampoos, conditioners, and products smell SO good! The studio is clean and bright, appointments are always on time and never take too long. Best of all, Tera has remembered me from my first appointment and always remembers the main topics about my life (boyfriends, school, work, etc.) This small business is one you want to support. I absolutely love this salon. I actually live in san Diego but am from Bellingham. I wait until my visits home to have my hair done by Heather Lambert. Shes amazing and listens to everything I want. I'm extremely picky and do not trust anyone to touch my hair due to a bad incident years ago until I found her. I have met the owner also and she's a sweetheart. I brought my mom to Heather also and my niece, and they love her. My mom has issue's with color staying in her hair and other hairdressers have issues with listening to the cut she wants due to a weird part in her hair but Heather listened and did her hair perfect. I've read other reviews and disagree with anyone that has problems with this salon. They're very personable and professional and they guarantee what you want. Love this place! read more

I just simply love this shop and everyone there. Tara has been been cutting my hair since the very beginning. She takes her time to really listen to how i want my hair and she provides helpful feedback if she thinks that my hair type may not work with the style i came in wanting. she takes the time ti find close to what you want based on what you hair can do. I used to go to this salon before owners changed. Back then I never had a single complaint. I decided to give it another chance even though Shar is no longer running the place (sad face!!). I had an appointment for a bang trim. But when I showed up right on time, the woman who I was scheduled with wasn't even there. The new management was very unkind and unfriendly. Very cold the first thing she said to me was "who are you here to see?" ....ANYTHING other than that would have been 10 times more welcoming. She didn't introduce herself, ask me how my day was or anything. The only other thing she asked was if I had been in the salon before. When I told her I used to see Shar I got no response. I found that INSANELY RUDE. Not only this, but while she explained to me that she would try and get a hold of the girl I was supposed to see she wasted time walking around and waiting for her client who was late for his appointment and didnt even show up for another 10 mintues. Once he finally got there she proceed to tell me she would cut my bangs when she was done with him if the other staff member didn't show up. Now my issue with this is that ANY other person running a salon would have just cut my bangs while they were waiting for their client. It takes less than 3 minutes...its a bang trim... not a hair cut. And if your running a business, you damn sure should be prepared to take responsibility if you can't manage your staff properly. So i waited for 25 minutes before realizing how incredibly unprofessional this place is and left. Before the management changed, this was my GO TO salon. I never went anywhere else. But this new owner....has horrible business manners. read more

I rate Studio One Twelve a 5 out of 5 stars and would give it more stars if I could! This is the only salon I've ever been to where I felt a truly warm and welcoming vibe. Once I found this gem (about 6 years ago) I haven't gone anywhere else. I work with Tara, who is amazing. Even with as busy as they are I'm always able to get an appointment time that works with my schedule. Sometimes I show up and am that annoying customer who "doesn't know what she wants". Tara is so helpful helping me decide which direction I want to take. We've done it all - short, long, layered, bangs, highlights, the works! I always leave feeling pampered and with a look that I LOVE! One of my biggest complaints about other places I tried out was that product was pushed on me at the very end and I always felt awkward declining it, but this has never been the case at Studio One Twelve!! If I ask about a product, Tara will tell me about it, but otherwise, our time is spent chatting about life. I couldn't more highly recommend this business. Check it out, you'll be hooked! read more
