After trying out one of the supposedly high-end shops in town and leaving with a mediocre cut I decided to risk at this no-tipping salon. Am I glad I did. Desirae is super down to earth, and actually enjoyed our conversation... and I left with a great cut! As an extra bonus they carry my fave product line, Kevin Murphy. The no-tipping policy is the bomb too. I also recently took my daughter (7) in for a cut and she was great with her as well. (Only $20 for the kids cut). Be sure to book early. Courtney, the stylist I saw at this salon, fried my highlights pretty bad, and left me with an…read moreoverprocessed orange head of hair that she did everything to mask with styling, so that I didn't see all the damage until I restyled my hair at home, which I had to do right away, because she also didn't wash my hair good enough, and left a lot of my brown root color on the back of my neck, I discovered later at home. I called and left a message about my service, and the damage, and Abby, the manager/owner returned my call, and proceeded to say I should be grateful that she didn't charge me as much as a service like this typically costs, to which I said there is a reason for that, and from there Abby proceeded to make countless excuses for Courtney's poor choices and discussed Courtney's mental health issues and anxiety with me, as if that was good reason. Other things that I should have called out at the time but I wanted to enjoy my service and really thought I was in good hands - I had just recently had a Malibu C treatment to remove some of the darker pigments in my hair and the back of my head processed lighter from that treatment, and the back on my head is where Courtney choose to start highlighting my hair first, meaning that it processed faster and she left it on while the front of my head caught up. I also caught her spraying hairspray before curling my hair - I asked what she just sprayed, she said that it would help hold the curl, but you don't do that, especially on compromised hair???? I trusted this person and I told her I have had back experiences before and that it was a big deal for me to trust someone with highlighting my curly hair, and this is what I get for my kindness and faith that I put into her. I was offered to have one of their other stylists (someone the manager referred to as a "good" stylist) fix my orange color, but I was not comfortable going back there and didn't trust I was in good hands. I asked for enough of my money back to go a salon of my choosing and have someone tone my hair, but they refused to accommodate my feelings and treated me as though I was the one that did something wrong.
