Tain always makes my teen daughter and me look really good and put together. She's a skilled communicator who is good at interpreting our hopelessly vague instructions. Whenever we make an appointment, we may arrive shaggy, but we always leave with smiles on our faces and struts in our strides. I have absolutely no idea how Tain does her magic. Whenever she's working on me, I just flow along with whatever we're chatting about that day, and then suddenly we're all done and she's pulling the cape off my shoulders, and this wonderful new me is staring back at me when I look into the mirror. (As opposed to me thinking to myself with mild disappointment, "Well, ok. Maybe this'll look better tomorrow after I wash it...") WRT Tain's skills with different types of hair: My hair happens to be middle-aged, European, colored, thinning, and curly. My daughter's hair is half-Asian, uncommonly thick, and straight. Tain does a great job with both of our hair textures. Tain's prices are extremely reasonable (i.e., you would pay a lot more for her services if she were based in Seattle). So, tip well if you can :) Tain is a pretty busy lady, so have a little patience when booking appointments -- you probably won't hear back from her for a few hours or days. But she's definitely worth the wait if you're able to work with her flexibly. Now that I've posted this review, I hope more people discover Tain's salon. True, it will be harder for us to get appointments in the future. But, hey, we're willing to make sacrifices to support an artist :)

The next place I went to showed me just how uneven it was. No wonder I had so much trouble with it. Makes me sad because I liked going there. For what it's worth I've heard of some who like it there. Booked blo dry bar for my Indian wedding event I was attending in Surrey. I'm from the states, had…read moreplenty of blow outs and usually go to dry bar but blo was more convenient as they have a combo for updo and full face makeup/lash. I'm from out of town and booked it weeks in advance. I arrived on time and unfortunately was kept waiting about 20 min past my scheduled appt. I would say if you have an event to go to make sure to always book earlier in the day so you'll have plenty of time. Deborah or was it Debbie was very nice and washed, dried and curled my hair. Deborah went out of her way to make me feel comfortable and made sure she didn't hurt me when brushing my hair and also did a great wash. I wanted a up do so a I guess a different girl is suppose to do the style. Jessica I believe was her name. I showed a few pics of what I would like. I was not pleased with the outcome. Honestly had to keep trying to get them to change something because it wasn't looking right. I felt like more of the stylist and all I really wanted was just a relaxing day and instead I got the opposite. Also the stylist was not very friendly and kept walking away and the other girl kept having call her back to the station. She also got an attitude when I asked her to fix something. Anyways I felt my hair was just okay, I made some adjustments when I got home. Shouldn't be that way. Should leave party ready. The full face makeup was awesome, she had so many color combos to choose from. The girl did awesome and I'm sorry I wish I remembered her name it may have been manpreet. But anyways it was perfect and she colored matched My skin perfectly and gave me a lip Sample for touch up later that night. All night I was getting compliments on my makeup wish I could say the same for the hair! Overall, most importantly blo delivered and I arrived to my event on time. Hopefully the stylists can improve maybe next time I will request someone else. Also one thing more to suggest would be to offer customers some Beverages would be nice. Thanks!

I really had to dig through social media to see the types of hair styles that BLO could create; there weren't enough examples to look through at the time. I wanted to play it safe and ended up getting soft curls in my hair. The lady who worked on my hair was super sweet and and was considerate about my concerns of my straight hair falling flat. The end result was beautiful. The only con that I had was that my hair didn't have the soft beach hair wave to it like I had hoped. It was doused with a LOT of hairspray. Overall, I was happy with my voluminous curls and would definitely go back if I'm ever in the area again.

I cant count how many top salons that I have been to that can't do a basic highlight that looks natural. She listened carefully and found a photo that described what I wanted and reproduced it. The products that she uses are 80% less damaging and sulfate free. She offers online shopping convenience for reproducing the soft feel at home. Lauras prices are very reasonable and her salon is nice and clean. Ruby her sweet pug is irresistible and ready to cuddle if you are. So happy to have found a great hairdresser right here in town. FYI The sign outside says "Hair to dye for"but inside the door says 'Hermosa Hair Design' as Laura only recently purchased the salon.
