SwissAm (with Erika at the helm) did a completely fabulous job catering our wedding reception. Our wedding was in early May and when we got back from our honeymoon people were still raving about the food. The beef tenderloin and mashed potatoes were especially huge hits, and I can tell you that our international fruit and cheese display and little tasty meat bites during cocktail hour were very appreciated by our guests. I had the best brie I've ever had actually, on the wonderful cheese assortment Erika had set aside for us at the head table. I also found Erika very organized and easy to work with. I tell you what, that was not my experience getting quotes from other caterers. Take the time to sit down with Erika and talk about what you want and she will make it happen.

We've been to Europe 3 times this year and eaten at some of the best places in the world. That being said this was the best salmon I've ever eaten in my life, and the best salad I've ever had in my life. I told my wedding party beforehand this meal will be a 10/10 and that's not hyperbole and it won't disappoint. My best man corrected me after 12/10. I lost count of how many guests told me unprompted "best wedding food of their life". Shane catered a 100 person wedding and customized a special menu just for us, carefully accounting for local ingredients and what was in season.. When the venue didn't have the right equipment he brought in his own industrial grill. They somehow managed to feed 100 people all about the same time and were so meticulous about every detail. Wedding food is usually quite bad as it's hard to cook for so many all at once. While this group is of course more expensive than most, the percentage increase in cost translates to a multiple-fold increase in quality. I strongly believe that if your guests are going to go out of their way to be at your wedding you owe it to them to try to provide a good experience, and food quality is one of the most important parts of this. You can't get any better than High Haute Foods.

The food catered to the event was from Jinan's Kitchen, uniquely delicious homemade Iraqi food coming out of the Southside. The lighting wasn't conducive to good photos so I'll try to do the food justice through my summary of it: fluffy yummy Saj bread, flavorful creamy hummus, hearty chicken kabob, sweet baklava, and Ma'amoul, a pastry of the perfect ratio of figs, walnuts and dates. All of this new great food experience was buffet style and there was plenty for everyone in the serving trays.

Yet once we parked, a gentleman in a golf cart was waiting for us, to take us to the main venue. Nicer than walking. We talked to other guests in the forest setting, under the trees' canopy, before sitting on one of the benches for the ceremony. Photos on the website show a wedding by the river, but that would have meant climbing down and up stairs, before and after the wedding. Since most of the attendees were over 50, the forest setting was better. The ceremony here was beautiful & like a fairy tale! While the wedding party was photographed, wedding guests enjoyed appetizers and drinks by the river. My only complaint was the lack of covers for foods. It was unappetizing to see flies enjoying the food, too. The young woman serving wine, beer, and water was pleasant & knowledgeable. No hard liquor was served as it is not permitted at this venue. I believe the food and drink was NOT part of the venue - it was catered. The reception hall was beautiful - from the long table in the center for the wedding party to the circular tables for guests on either side. The organization of the night was perfect - the entry of the wedding party, food service, first dances, open dancing, cake cutting, and sparkler send off. The food was very good - served outside, and we were called by table to get it served to us. The cupcakes were delicious: blueberry, red velvet, white cake, and others. Not sure how much of the event was provided by venue and how much was catered or rented/brought in. If you don't mind a barely two lane road into and out of the venue, and you don't need hard liquor to have a good time, this property is beautiful for a wedding or large event.

The two things that set the Views at Sunset Ridge apart from all the other wedding venues in the…read morearea are the owners and the view. From the start, the interactions I had with the owners were simple and familiar. A family owns and runs this venue and it's obvious that, to them, this is more than just a place they rent out for weddings. During the planning process, I only had a couple of vendors that I felt came close to being as excited about my wedding as I was, and TVASR was one of them. From the start they were easy-going and understanding, even with a Type-A bride like me, and their ability to accommodate was astounding. On a few tours of other venues I felt as if my partner and I were interacting with a car salesmen as it was all about the nickel-and-dime. If we wanted the non-plastic chairs, that was extra. If we wanted the bridal suite, that was extra. If we wanted more than just a few hours, that was extra. But, with TVASR I kept being surprised at what was included in the price. Comparable pricing in the area left you with a 1-room venue that perhaps included some plastic tables and chairs and a few leftover decor items. With TVASR the price included 3 floors (all that flipping a single room mess begone), several outdoor ceremony locations, staff for parking, a "decor closet" (but what is actually a very large room with enough decor to beautify 3 different wedding styles), an unmatched bridal suite, a groom's room topped off with a bar and pool table, beautiful hand-made wooden tables with wooden chairs (that don't need any chair covers), not to mention draping. They also offer MULTIPLE colors of linens, MULTIPLE plate options, MULTIPLE types of glassware/silverware...need I go on? And despite all that they offered there were no sneaky fees popping out of the fine print...because that's not what this family is about. They care and, I frankly think, take pride in the weddings that take place at their venue. As if that is not enough, TVASR also had options for a photographer and an in-house chef. The chef provided my fiancé and I with one of the best tastings we've ever had. We were wanting something off-menu and the chef seemed to really enjoy the challenge. He surpassed our expectations with his creativity and the options he presented us during the meal (the sun-dried tomato pimento cheese he created for us is still something I find myself thinking of). We were in love with their venue. We never missed an open house, even after signing the contract, just because we so thoroughly enjoyed the interaction with the owners...and the view. From the moment I set foot on the top floor, with the panoramic windows that provided a sight that rivaled that of Rock City, I knew I wanted a sunset dinner for our guests. Nothing else could match it. TVASR offers a venue that is romantic and breathtaking all in the same space. It is something that is completely unrivaled. It is everything that could be hoped for. Unfortunately, a year into our two-year wedding planning process, our wedding plans shifted. We found ourselves needing a micro-wedding verging on elopement which left us with no other choice than to change our venue. Even with that news, the owners never ceased to surprise us with their flexibility and empathy. They understood that this was a loss of my partner and I's dream wedding and their response felt like that of a friend. They did not first and foremost remind us about contracts or fees. They were sympathetic and understanding. And, even though our wedding now looks much different than we planned, we still hope to one day have an anniversary sunset party on that top floor. Long review made short, I could not recommend this venue, and family, more. If you are curious, follow them on FB and visit their website to subscribe to their email announcements. They don't go long in between open houses and a visit will be all you need to fall in love. If you are looking for an easy-going, romantic, absolutely perfect venue...The Views at Sunset Ridge is positively it.
