You could certainly go in, run around, look at the castle in 15 mins, but we wanted to understand the art, the reason behind the build and just learn a few things. Santa was there for pictures and it's neat that you can rent a room IN the castle. We weren't able to view those rooms but, I believe there are pictures online. Maybe we will come back and stay! You can't see the castle upon arrival, they take you in a bus up the hill so, I liked that it didn't ruin the surprise. They had little Tiaras for purchase and they give you a small prize when you complete the word puzzle they hand you. And event here would be cool. It would also be great if they had more drink or snacks for purchase but imagine that's in the works!! This was a costly project so, it will only get better!

Their location causes some logistical issues you don't have at most faires as there is no parking field. Most people have to park offsite and catch a free shuttle to the bottom of the mountain, then they drive you up to the castle. For those of us in full costume, the shuttle buses do add a level of complication we aren't used to but is definitely worth it If you like the Renaissance faire type events you need to go check this event out.

It wasn't until we visited Walnut Hill Farm that we fell in love with a venue. The Conservatory/Lower Barn by the pond is just dreamy. It's intimate and charming, and absolutely perfect. But really, it was Matt Barrett that we fell in love with too. From day one he was warm, and kind and responsive. He was there throughout the entire process, literally from day one through the wedding day, just checking in, answering a million questions (and I'm not even kidding), and making sure things were getting done. I was planning the wedding long distance, and he and Amanda made it a breeze. That's saying a lot from someone who's a semi-OCD control-freak :D I truly could not have hoped for a better wedding. Amanda literally took the dreams in my head and made them come to life in our round arch, our table arrangements, and everything in between. The flowers were just to-die for, and they truly set the scene. I've heard over and over again from guests how beautiful everything was, and I know they meant it, because it was! Amanda has an incredible talent, and I'm so glad she used it on my wedding. Jasa and her team knocked it out of the park with the food. I heard from so many guests how delicious everything was, even from our more picky guests. The serving process was smooth, and everyone enjoyed their meal - that's a huge win in my book! Overall, I cannot recommend this venue enough. Not only did they put up with a high strung bride that's a project manager by trade and answer all of my zillions of questions, they gave us a day that we'll never forget. I have had the privilege of visiting this wonderful city getaway for more than one occasion (school…read moretrip, weddings, & ministry retreats). This site is large and very easy to reach as it is less than 2 hours from Metro-Atlanta. The grounds have both a camp site with cabins and standard hotel rooms (a bit older which adds to its charm). There are many activists such as zip lining, canoeing, hayrides, hiking and nice trails. A definite quaint getaway for rest and relaxation. There are multiple conference rooms, free WiFi and an on-site kitchen for catered meals. The only con I experienced on the last trip was a lack of monitoring of inventory of food for quick replenishment on the buffet line, no signage to label ingredients in the food, no gluten free options for bread or desserts. This isn't unusual so, I adjusted my medals by just adding more fruits and veggies. The Fall is an exceptionally beautiful time to bifurcation. I'll be back soon!!
