We were staying right down the street at the Marriott and decided to order takeaway from this restaurant. There was only one hostess and she was busy juggling walk-ins, seating customers with reservations, and handling incoming calls. However, she was pleasant and relatively efficient. We ordered 3 items for a total of ~$60 USD: XO Chilli Prawn Cutlets Beancurd and Vegetables in Oyster Sauce Vegetable chow mein The portions are huge! The containers were literally packed to the brim. We had enough to feed 3 people for dinner and for breakfast the next day. Would definitely recommend!

We dined in the upstairs portion of the restaurant ( which is tucked in a multi use building ). Service was friendly and attentive. Food was absolutely delicious. Fresh seafood. Fresh veggies. Portions were decent sized. They do have some pricing quirks to be aware of: There is a minimum spend per person and I believe it varies with party size. They charge a 10% surcharge on Sundays. Not sure if this standard in other restaurants but I doubt it. I'm mentioning it so diners on Sunday are aware. I liked the food enough that I just chalked it up to a vacation u expected expense. I'd eat there again if I had the chance. Notorious MD approved!

They have nice contemporary Chinese Art Deco inside, with soft jazz playing in the background. It's a stark contrast to the hustle and bustle of military road. Have you ever wished that at dinner time you could teleport to Wagga Wagga for all you can eat for $5 Chinese buffet? Or perhaps you are one of those people who only ever season their food with salt and considers soy sauce to be very fancy? Or maybe you were in an accident that left you with no sense of taste? If you have answered yes to any (or indeed all) of these questions then Dais Golden Crown is for you! It is cheap and the servings are huge but that is about all it has going for it. With a menu starring classics such as greasy dim sim, bland chicken chow mein and of course good ol' sweet n sour pork with special guest pineapple lumps - Dais Golden Crown is guaranteed to please anyone who prefers their food not to have flavour. So, unless you are starving, Dominos is closed and IGA is all out of Lean Cuisines - I'd recommend giving this place a miss.

The deal is you design your own meal, but if that sounds a little too daunting, they do cite recommendations (eg. the Swordfish is best spiced and served with the cous cous salad). In a clever nod to newspaper wrapped fish and chips, there's even a brown paper menu listing the rest of the a la carte delights. And yes, there are even some red meat and vegetarian dishes. The service here is consistently warm and friendly, with much appreciated help given to moving tables and chairs around to accommodate for both a toddler and a babe-in-arms. We also came bearing a birthday cake, which was brought out with some (suitably embarrassing) ceremony before being served with a dollop of delicious vanilla bean icecream. The fact that the restaurant is also BYO is a just bonus, making it an even easier decision to return for future birthdays and fun times.

In other words, you're given a list of the day's offering of fish, along with different preparation methods and sides. You can't really choose a bad combination as all the fish and sides work perfectly together. Since there were several types of fish I had never heard of before, I referred to the TV screen which describes each fish's origin, taste, and texture. There's also a menu that's filled with other seafood plates (I'll be getting the Snapper Pie next time!). I ordered the roasted Hapuka, a flakey white fish from New Zealand, served with a salad of fennel, parsley, and kaffir lime leaves. There was a bright sauce made with lime juice, olive oil, and chilies. The entire dish was absolutely fantastic. The fish was roasted to perfection, with a crispy skin and light showering of fleur de sel. The salad was the epitome of fresh and summery. For dessert, I had the Belgian waffles with clotted cream and strawberries. Well, I definitely had a complaint about the dessert. It was WAY too small! Just kidding--but it was one of the best waffles I've had. Service at Garfish was stupendous. Our waitress couldn't have been more friendly or accommodating. She helped everyone choose his or her fish combination individually. When one of my friends spilled her drink, the mess was cleaned posthaste and she was immediately offered a refill. Everyone at the table was very satisfied with our experience at Garfish.
