This place makes me nostalgic for the time spent in the French Concession in Shanghai, where the cuisine is a combination of East meets West, yet still remains it's effortlessly cool charm. Arriving around 12:30, we were lucky to get a seat in this compact cafe. Try and avoid the inside table near the door as the queue can get a little irritating after a while, especially as they block your line of vision to the deliciously crafted desserts. I was in matcha heaven with a hot matcha latte in a bowl and the matcha tart which was heavenly soft like mousse with a biscuit base. For savouries, I opted for the double smoked ham and cheese sandwich which was a generous portion and a whole lotta ham. Next time I want to try the chicken or the beef. I think I will need to consult Google Maps to return to this place as it is not located in the usual eating spots, but that's part of its allure. Long live hidden gems and matcha!

There's a scene in an episode of Sex and the City where Carrie has a nervous breakdown after realising she has spent a total of $40,000 on shoes ($400 x 100 pairs) in her lifetime. I'm pretty sure I will one day suffer a similar realisation of horror re CreAsion macarons, only my realisation will be far more horrific because at least Carrie still had her shoes to show for her addiction: in my case the only remaining evidence of my macaron habit will be my type 2 diabetes and my total absence of teeth. Every time I come to this place I spend $40 on a 16-pack of macarons. I simply cannot help myself. There are new flavours almost every time I come, and even when there aren't, I have to eat the ones I've tried before again because they were just so damn delicious the first time. These are easily the best macarons in Sydney. 'Zumbarons' (stupid name) don't even come close. I've loved all the flavours I've had so far but my favourites would have to be the jasmine tea, yoghurt and salted caramel ones. The toasted sandwiches here are pretty good too.

Cafe Cre Asion is one of those "hidden gem" cafes, tucked away in a little alley lane, quietly waiting to be discovered. It serves light breakfast, lunch and a wide selection of colourful macarons with a Japanese twist. The menu's simple, but the items all seemed appetizing and reasonably priced. [Photo] Poached free range chicken, chili pickled Asian mushroom, Iceberg lettuce, zucchini, chive, toasted white sesame and wasabi mayo, $11. This was my favourite sandwich of the day. It's light but not boring at all - the hint of wasabi mayo especially brought the sandwich to a different level. To end the meal - No one could walk out of Cafe Cre Asion without bringing a box of macarons home. It's got the most interesting macaron flavours in Sydney, such as: plum wine, yuzi, bamboo charcoal and sesame, truffle, and a lot more!

Cafe Cre Asion by name and absolutely Cafe Creations by style, layout, creativity and service. You would never randomly stumble across this nifty cafe unless you were specifically looking for it or worked in the vicinity. It's randomly placed down a little alley lane. Very much Melbourneesque in that regard. The cute cafe offers Japanese style breakfast, snack, desserts, coffee and lunch. The menu is reasonably priced and for those wanting takeout some dishes come discounted if you take out. It was difficult to select one item from the menu so luckily I was with a friend. I choose a sandwich while she was more glutinous and opted to go for the chocolate fondant. My sandwich was impressively full with Wagyu beef and spiced cauliflower. Flavours were really good and it absolutely hit the spot. I accompanied it down with a green tea matcha latte. The matcha latte is an absolute must. My friends Chocolate Fondant was beautiful too. Served with matcha sauce and a mix of summer fruits. Just beautiful. They have an array of options available such as macaroons, green tea muffins, cooked and even green tea Swiss roll. AMAZING spot and I will come again.

Green tea muffin

The good: the green tea muffin itself is worth a trip, but the sheer variety of meticulously produced baked goods that come out of this tiny (and incredibly stylish) space is impressive. Plus, everyone on the staff is so friendly and pleasant, I can't help but walk out of there with a smile on my face. For such a tiny, cramped, crowded little place, it's an incredibly pleasant experience. The bad: The coffee is just not good. The first time I had it, I thought it was too weak and that they had given me too little espresso. The second time, I thought the milk was bad (it had that taste that things absorb when they sit for too long in the fridge). The third time, my flat white was way too frothy. Maybe there's something I'm missing, or maybe I'm just super-unlucky, but I now get my muffin here and go elsewhere for my coffee. Bottom line: 5 stars for atmosphere, 5 stars for the baked goods, and a shoulder shrug for the coffee.

Desserts! Green tea chocolate fondant, green tea Swiss roll, chocolate tart

The best green tea food and drinks in Sydney! I'd never been to a Japanese cafe before that serves savoury food (I didn't know they existed!) The cafe is hidden down a laneway and was really hard to find. In fact, I had never heard of this place until my friends suggested that we try it out, and I'm so glad I did! We ordered a couple of salads and desserts to share. Thoughts on our dishes: - Iced green tea soy latte - the green tea flavour and bitterness was just right, not too bitter and not sweet. - Salad: Poached free range chicken, chilli pickled Asian mushroom, iceberg lettuce, zucchini, white sesame and wasabi mayo - this was a knockout! Authentic, tasty and healthy Japanese salad. My favourite dish of the food we tried. - Salad: Smoked salmon, soft boiled egg, pickled fennel, dill, caper and cream cheese - tasty, but less of a Japanese flavour than the first salad. Also there was too much cream cheese (there were 3 or 4 giant blobs). - Green tea chocolate fondant - amazing!!! I don't usually like chocolate or desserts but I loved this! The soft, moist, gooey chocolate cake comes with hot green tea lava on the side which you pour into the centre of the cake. This was definitely another highlight. - Chocolate tart - I wasn't a fan. It was super rich and tasted like fudge. It tasted bitter and like there was cream chese in it. - Green tea Swiss roll - moist, soft and delicate green tea flavour. Comes with green tea filling in the centre. The negatives: - It's located in a laneway in the city and I felt a little scared heading in as there was not a single person, and there was graffiti all over the walls of the laneway. - It's TINY! Maybe 10 stools on the inside and another 20 (max) on the outside of the cafe. The tables and stools are tiny and if it's raining, most of the outside seats are in the rain. Overall, I'd be back!

Macarons (6): $16.00

These days I make a point to snag some macarons in just about every city I visit, so when my final day in Sydney arrived during a recent trip I thought it was due time that I sampled some of the city's offerings. While I loved the atmosphere at Cafe Cre Asion and the Asian flair with a tea theme, but actual macarons themselves were a bit of a mixed bag. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? My tea habit has over the years evolved into a full blown obsession, and for that reason I was thrilled to find that Cafe Cre Asion builds off of an Asian tea vibe that compliments its quaint and tucked away location. The shop is small, but the servers are friendly and your attention is laser focused on the case of nine different macaron flavors. I snagged my six, paid, and was on my way. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? I paid $16.00 for six macarons equating out to $2.67 each, which would be a bit on the expensive side if the USD wasn't so strong but even at a 1:1 exchange rate would be roughly what you'd pay at Laduree or Pierre Herme in New York or Paris, which is fair. Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? So in we went into my box of six: 1. Green Tea 2. Hazelnut Milk Chocolate 3. Dark Chocolate 4. Salted Caramel 5. Chai 6. Dark Roasted Green Tea As I touched on earlier, the macarons were a bit of a mixed bag. Across the board the cookie shells were a tad bit too brittle, and the filling ranged from just right (Milk Chocolate) to too firm (Dark Roasted Green Tea). With regard to the flavor, be advised that these tea flavors in particular aren't akin to the pansy tea flavors of stuff like ice cream and milkshakes, which I've always found don't replicate the flavor of tea at all. These macarons packed a punch of tea flavor that you'll love if you enjoy a strong brew and probably hate if you don't like the taste of black or green tea in general. My favorite ended up being the Hazelnut Milk Chocolate and my least favorite the Dark Roasted Green Tea, but across the board these were what I would call good not great. Single Star Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? I loved the atmosphere at Cafe Cre Asion, and it looks like they have a really outstanding following, but I'm not sure I can put them on that elite tier of global macarons yet. No Star Granted.

Green Matcha Latte

Cafe Cre Asion is defintely one of those hidden alleyways kind of places. It reminds me of those kind of places you find in Melbourne, but luckily, this place exists in Sydney! Matcha is something that is not enjoyed as much, but this place does it well. FOOD/DRINK: Matcha Latte and Matcha Chiffon Cake. Yup. The latte is rich and the cake is of the prefect density and got a good moisture content. The group of nice people who work in the small kitchen work miracles in making this food taste so good! SERVICE: Great! Perhaps it's more of an Australian taste than what I am used to in the US, but this matcha cafe is definitely solid!

Green tea fondant. My latest obsession at this cafe.

Great coffee and they serve green tea latte!!! The cakes are amazing and their salmon egg sandwich is to die for. Everything tastes amazing here. I'd give them 5 stars if they price their toast on the market value instead of the current steep $7.

Even if you don't like sweet foods you can at least appreciate the colours. The bright shiny colours. Never before have I ever seen so many brightly coloured Macaroons and with such interesting flavours. There's even one with gold flakes. Though I hear it's very rich. And if the Macaroons aren't enough to get you in the door, how about this, it's tucked away in a back alley in Sydney, right behind the Federal Police. If you're worried about personal safety while you eat, you should be golden here. No where else have I been to where there has been Green Tea Cappuccino's on the menu. Let me let you in on a little secret about me. I love green tea. I think it's great, it's the bees knees of teas. It's good for you, if fights free radicals and it's a tasty tasty treat. Who knows how good it is for you in cappuccino form, but it's very very delicious! If you've ever had green tea ice-cream, and I strongly recommend it, it's like that, only hot but still just as creamy.

Recommended by a friend to visit Cafe Cre Asion after expressing my love of Matcha to him. Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow..... I LOVE MATCHA ASDF. I love how the cafe is just hidden away from the busy streets of Sydney. It just gives that extra little bit of kawaii to it. And the little stools and tables are so kawaii. And the tiles are kawaii and the little round bowls and plates and little cups and everything is to little round and kawaii. I was just screaming the whole time because it's just too much kawaii for me. Anyways, the food. The first bite of the matcha tart was just heaven. So was the second bite... and the third... just the entire thing was matcha heaven. It was a "Matcha made in heaven" (haha... Geddit? Match made in heaven... hahahhhhhhh im just gonna cringe here by myself) It was so rich and creamy ugh I love it! The Swiss roll was amazing too but I'd like more matcha flavour to it pls. The Matcha Latte was just perfect and my stomach was probably just matcha after consuming all this. So much matcha, so little time. I want more!!! I'll be back. Maybe next time I'll get a little seat rather than taking away the little matchas to Hyde park. I want the full experience of Matcha life :3

I had seen heaps of great photos here and so had to check it out. It's matcha heaven. Matcha muffins, latte, cheesecake, macarons, wow! The place was packed, hardly a space to sit. I ordered a chai, and a matcha muffin - it was amazing - fluffy, gooey and even a touch of cream inside. I also got some dainty little macarons and a chai latte. I really liked this place and it lives up to the hype.

We came in thinking it was just a coffee shop, but it's essentially a restaurant that also has a focus on coffee. They have a full bar and a window to the outside where you can order just coffee and tea to go. As for the interior it's dimly lit and sort of has romantic date night vibes. We essentially only ordered coffee and one person ordered a cake slice. The lychee cake was pretty good per my aunt. A couple people ordered the Coco Loco, which is basically an espresso martini on steroids with Nutella and something like a Ferrero Rocher. I ordered a latte and their Affogato. The latte was very smooth and BI is arguably one of the best I've ever had. Is the Affogato a cheat code because they use like a tiramisu ice cream? You could argue that case. You can also buy their blends of coffee beans, subject to availability. While the latte was very smooth, I can't say it was mind blowing but it was still pretty good.

My pancakes were stone cold but I will say the aesthetics on it made it edible. The pistachio butter cream was to die for. My steak was ok ; for the price I simply just wanted more. I could be wrong but I doubt it was even 6oz. If you have this place on your radar be sure to make reservations. This goes for almost every restaurant in Sydney.
