I never visited this place before. I saw so many reviews it almost turned me away. I decided to take the wife and kids and meet up with some friends. The place was really big, open and lots of room. The seating was a little tight. I felt like I was dining with my neighbors. However, the food.... The food was really good. Tons of selections and ~$20 per person it's not bad considering a combo at a non buffet runs around ~$15-20. I would say it's absolutely worth it. I was surprised that the restaurant met my expectations, for a typical buffet-style restaurant. I understand that buffet-style food is not always the best quality/delicious, but I was impressed by the selection of sushi they had - definitely my favorite, especially salmon nigiris and Tamago nigiris. The rolls were filled and the person making them did not use too much rice (some buffets do so to make the customers full faster). The crawfish was average, we got a few plates of it, they kept coming out hot whenever the trays were near empty. I wish there were more sauce options for the seafood, I felt like the mussels were too bland, since the butter isn't salted. I loved the honey shrimp! I was hesitant to try Imperial because of other reviews but I decided to give it a try. I was there for lunch about 1 pm during the week and they had a lot to offer. I was actually impressed by the choices. Honey chicken , pork spare ribs , seafood casserole , rice, Lo Mein, green beans , all the standard fried appetizers, pizza, spinach dip and other seafood I did not get to. Hostess and server were pleasant and I didn't feel any pressure to eat quick and leave as other reviews suggested. It's definitely one of the cleaner AYCE buffets I've seen . The food was good, but the staff was extremely aggressive. In the location where we were seated, all three staff members kept hovering around us and staring. The waiter kept trying to take my plate away, or would walk by and stare at my plate, even though I was still eating! It was super stressful to have the staff on top of us constantly. They were also always in the way as we were trying to walk to and from the buffet. They delivered the check before we were even done eating, and seemed to be eager to rush us out. They have chinese food, sushi and raw oyster bar. They have a huge selection of chinese food and quite the selection of seafood including crab, oyster, fish, shrimp, crawfish. They also have American comfort food such as pizza, chicken nuggets, fries etc. The food was mediocre but in terms of variety, freshness and cleanliness it was great! I was surprised they refilled the trays quickly and often even though it was around 8:30 pm on a Friday night. The food was always hot and the service was excellent. Visited this place two nights ago, about 15 minutes before closing time. When I walked in I asked the girl that works there if I could still get food to go. She answered yes so I proceeded to pack my container. When I went to check out, as I'm going to pay and I pull out my credit card, the girl asked me if I had cash because she had, I'm assuming, balanced out the credit card charges at that point. I explained to her that I didn't. For the next 4 minutes she continued to press me and I continue to tell her that I didn't. I'm very easy going, so I even told her that if she couldn't charge my card I was okay with leaving without the food. I could tell she was pissed off, but eventually she took my card and charged it and asked one of the waiters to package up my container for me. When she gave me my receipt she threw it on the counter to the point where it almost fell off. Aside from that, the food was really cold, the rice was not even edible.. all of this I would understand because I did walk in close to closing time. But what I don't understand is the rude service. If she wasn't able to charge my card, the moment to tell me that would have been when I walked in greeted her and asked if I could still get food to go. I've been to this place probably a thousand times before, and she's never been really friendly, but as someone who has worked in customer service for almost 30 years, the rudeness was totally uncalled for. Dear restaurant, Im from Maine, and I go to Massachusetts with friends every other month. I am a restaurant owner. We decided to go to your restaurant, to try something new. And let me tell you we were completely hugely disappointed. We tried the black peppered chicken, it was fatty and cold, my friend had a piece not fully cooked and got food poisoning. Crab was not hot at all. Let's just say by the time we left my stomach and my friends including my friend already with food poisoning, had stop at least 46 times at a gas station or rest stop on our way home, cause our stomachs and asses hurt. Never again will we be attending your restaurant. We decided to start yelping and go to the best and worst reviewed restaurants. And Congrats! We have gone to many different restaurants before and you definitely are the fkn worst. I love the selection this place offers, from a full bar in the entryway to dozens of seafood dishes! Lots of crab, shrimp, muscles, crawfish, etc etc. it just goes on and on. The only thing missing are the beef dishes, there are a couple and they are delicious but there could be a couple more. The food was good of course cause you could grab as much food as you want, up to 2 hours. Everything was good until the check came in. Paying the check wasn't the problem it was the service that was the problem. Personally I didn't think you had to tip the waiter but when she gave our check I put my card down first and as soon as I paid and she gave back the check she asked about the tip. I didn't think nothing of it. But then another waiter came by and saw that I didn't put anything on and asked if everything was good and begins to also as well ask about putting a tip. I got annoyed after as I believe you earn the tip as how much you interact and serve us which all they did was give us the drinks, didn't ask for refills, just only took the plates which is expected, nothing else. as soon as they asked about the tip the third time I just put 1.00 because I was already annoyed, I get that it's called a tip but you get the tip for how well you serve as a waiter and it was different waiters coming. Of course this ain't no fancy restaurant but it is repetitive on how you have to ask for tips which is frustrating and ridiculous. When I gave the 1 dollar tip tip they started to mean mug and start talking shit because of how I didnt tip much. I really wanted to like this place. I read some great reviews. I was, however, disappointed. Because of CDC, we needed to wear masks (you bring) and use a plastic glove (they provide) each time you visited the buffet. Not as much to choose from as with other buffets. Entire sections were closed. Still, the only food item we liked were their tiny crab rangoons. Nothing was really hot, and the Wonton soup was missing wontons. I went up 3 times. First, for soup and appetizers. I chose teriyaki beef, which to me, tasted more like chicken, spring roll (bland), crab rangoon and Peking Ravioli (not great). The ravioli had no carmelization or a browned side. Again, not hot. My 2nd trip was angel hair Lo Mein (just okay), Honey Chicken (very good), chicken fingers (more like thumbs), and green beans (good). My 3rd visit was for dessert. Can't go wrong with factory-made chocolate ice cream. And, one little cream puff (a bit stale). It's a lot more affordable than other Chinese and Asian restaurants that are near us. However, if you live between Worcester and Southborough, go to Westborough Mandarin. A bit pricey, but so worth it. read more
