Walking into the Impact Zone, the first thing that you see is a very well decorated facility. The attention to detail was fantastic as well - even the corners had nice, quality touches that display the thought that went into the presentation of the place. There was a lovely mahogany colored counter that offered drinks of all kinds (some of which, for coordination's sake, would be unadvisable to drink prior to a lesson). There were strategically placed lights, and amenities scattered in all corners. One of the best examples I can give of the attention to detail of this place was what was in the north-western corner beside the bar: there was a piece of curved wood that had a very well carved "Impact Zone Golf" logo into it. It was very small, probably 1.5' by 11", so it was striking to see that. The amount of time and effort that must have gone into trying to find a woodmaker who could do that, paying whatever amount it would cost the arch the wood and make the laser-like carving, just to put into a small corner, to me said much about their approach in lessons.
More than the facility, though, I was impressed with how thoughtfully and how sincerely Marianna and Bobby Clampett listened and talked with my Mom and me. They separately introduced themselves, and once both of them were there, we all sat down and talked for about an hour. Part of it was very relevant to what I was there for - to learn about the Focusband - but a good deal of it was friendly conversation, just to get to know each other a bit (though, as expected, it took us no more than 15 seconds to navigate back to golf). Marianna spent all the time I needed to help me learn about the Focusband (she developed her professional skill set around the mental side of golf, especially in understanding the Focusband). I asked many questions, and she listened very carefully and addressed everything I would ask without skipping any part of my question. She walked me through it with putting, a series of 24 detailed banners, and finally testing it also with the full swing. Then, Bobby decided that he wanted to give me a swing evaluation, and asked me if I could come back after his next lesson for it.
One could see that he definitely attempts to utilise all the technology that he finds valuable to evaluate a person's swing. For the evaluation, he used 4 high speed cameras, 2 monitors, and a foot-sensor system to evaluate the energy transfer in my swing. It was extremely insightful, and some of his observations have been very fascinating for my coach and I to play around with.
Finding a business with such genuinely caring people is a rarity, but it is truly a pleasure when one can find one. Thank you, Marianna, for your patience and for listening to (all) my questions so intently, and thank you Bobby for your enthusiastic interest and acknowledgment of the good of what I am doing thus far.
As far as lessons go, I would absolutely recommend visiting this place in your search. The pricing is reasonable, the facility is impressive, and the people I met did their jobs very intently while still being very personable - not to mention, his concepts are correct and fairly simple to understand. read more
