I've belonged to a lot of gyms and this Life Time is the best. It's like a fitness resort! There's…read moresomething for everyone here, and fitness equipment I've never seen before. There are numerous classes that are serious workouts. Yoga, hot yoga, stretch, etc. I'm not a swimmer, but if I was I think the swim facilities are second to none, both indoors and outdoors. The outdoor pool is awesome, and will serve adult beverages, which is a nice option. There's steam, sauna, whirlpool, and a clean and well stocked locker room. I joined as soon as I could and was there on day one. Love this place! Finally, shout out to Courtney, who is always there with a smile and exuberant hello.

I love the group fitness classes and I love that you reserve your spot in advance. They also just started a new Core Tone Reform class with reformers for regular members, and that class kicks your butt! I also really enjoy the sauna, steam room, and jacuzzis. Another benefit is the kids membership. My stepdaughter loves coming to the kids club for gymnastics, rock climbing, yoga, and more. I know that she is having fun while I'm doing a class. They have Parents Night Out on the weekends and that's such a nice perk! There's also day camps, which has saved us a few times when we needed child care during a school break. The pool is also wonderful in the summertime. The cafe food is average. I'd love it if the quality was amped up just a bit. The only thing I really ever get is the vegan PB& B shake. It's delicious! It has peanut butter, banana, cafe mocha greens, almond milk, and vegan protein powder. I haven't been to the salon yet, but it's great that this is an option. Overall, I love this gym and I would go every day if I could.

One of the trendiest sports these days is pickleball, and I too have become engrossed with the…read moresport. Due to its popularity, there is always high demand for court space to play. Typically I will head over to my local park and play with other strangers, but when it got cold outside I turned to Peak Sports to give me the space to play during the winter. Peak is a facility in Apex that hosts both pickleball and badminton. I don't play badminton, so I will focus on the pickleball. There are seven pickleball courts within Peak, with two of the seven usually being held for small group reservations. Throughout the day, all of the other courts have general open play, where you bring your own paddle and play pick up games with friends or strangers. Peak uses a phone app to monitor and control the amount of people within the facility, so that a good flow of games occur. The courts themselves are relatively below average when it comes to indoor facility courts. Instead of the traditional outdoor feel, Peak uses a rolled out mat that acts as their court. It is more slick, so I am more prone to slipping on the court, plus the texture of the court makes it so that the ball has extra spin on fast hits. For a real feel outdoor court in an indoor facility, I would point to Pin Point in Raleigh for that. The best thing about Peak in my opinion is the community of players there. All of the staff is really nice and I have met some of my best pickleball friends here. Peak also offers various classes, leagues and tournaments so that you can consistently improve. I would say that a lot of my recent growth as a player has come from playing at Peak. You have the option to become a member here starting at around $89/month, or you can pay every time you want to join an Open Play session. While I wouldn't say that Peak is the absolute best indoor facility for pickleball, it has given me lots of opportunities for improvement and a place to play to avoid the frigid temperatures!

The room was nice and toasty for class, and the instructor guided us through a series of poses that cleared my mind from a hectic day of work. Bonus: The studio is next to a gorgeous lake that you can feast your eyes on for some post-workout meditation. I came through ClassPass, but it looks really easy to sign up online, etc.

Where do I begin. Well, after driving from NJ to Raleigh NC area, I needed some yoga. I am fairly…read morenew to yoga but after doing about 10 classes, my joints feel better. My buddy in NJ got me hooked on hot yoga and so far I've taken about 7-8 of hot yoga classes too. Now in NJ hot yoga is a dry heat. Fast forward to NC and the hot yoga at Firefly is another animal. The room is heated with like humidifier steam...you can literally see the steam in the room. When class starts the steamers are turned off and that heat is on in that room! I saw 2 other objects in the room and maybe some heat was coming from them too. Oh did I mention the temperature outside was already about 95 degrees. I think the room itself was 100 degrees. The instructor William was amazing. He has a very calming voice and because the class was so intimate he knew I was never in his class and another woman as well. She was from Philly and I was the Jersey girl. William welcomes you and makes you feel very comfortable. We progressed through the moves slowly but intensely. William also walked around the room to correct form and help you to get deeper into the stretch. When the class was done corpse pose aka: savasana felt so GOOD! I loved the ice cold towel they give each student at the end. The studio is hidden. At first I thought my GPS was wrong. Have you ever seen the movie Deliverance? Yes, think that movie. The studio is inside of a like country club/retirement community/pool house...just weird but it's beautiful. The yoga place when you walk in is on the left and there is an attendant at the desk. There are locker rooms and showers...the yoga room is upstairs door on the right. I purchased a 2 week deal for $25. I am in town for 3 days but you can't beat the deal. So if in the Cary/Raleigh area check them out and make sure you're able to take the heat! Good place very good place.
