    Squirrel trail marker

There are two sides of the park you can park on. For our recent visit we parked on the side without the playgrounds and fields and took a nice walk along the lake. There are cute little animal markers painted on the trail to assist with locating an exact spot in the event of an emergency. My son had fun pointing out the different animals on our walk. We saw lots of turtles, squirrels, and birds. They have a floating dock that you can walk out on or fish off of. We walked along the lake and then visited the two play areas on the opposite side of the park. One was more of a tradition playground with swings and slides and the other was a fitness area. There are also lots of fields at this park and other areas that we didn't have time to explore.

I really like this trail, but it can get quite crowded on weekend mornings. I'd suggest arriving by 9 am if you are looking for a more socially distanced stroll. There are two parking lots for the trail, one is quite small and the other is very large. The big lot is over by the sports fields, picnic pavilion and playground. The nice thing is that there are bathrooms at each parking lot, they are spaced out about 1 mile from each other. The loop around the lake is about 2 miles and very serene. It is all paved as it winds through the woods with glimpses of the water. Great for all ages! There is also a one mile unpaved trail, but I have yet to try it. This spot is definitely a Town of Apex gem and I really appreciate having it.

I love this park for the great walking path around the lake. I'm normally there in the early morning with my dog as the sun is rising. It's a well traveled paved path, fairly flat, with a beautiful view. I feel safe and comfortable while walking alone on the walking path and would recommend it to others. There are also fun playground equipment for our kids, clean bathrooms, tennis and basketball courts, park benches, and covered picnic tables

One of my new favorite parks! We loved this two mile paved loop around the lake with our dog. It offered enough space to socially distance too. It was pretty packed on a Monday morning so I can't imagine how busy it is on the weekend.

With 160 acres, this is one of my favorite places to walk in the afternoons. There is a two mile long paved path around the lake with plenty of space for passing. You can also veer onto a trail through the trees. You'll find lots of folks walking, running, biking, and dog walking. It offers several athletic fields, basketball and volleyball courts, and playgrounds. There is a fishing dock and launching site for kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, etc. Some kind soul took the time to place uplifting sayings along the trails and one can't help but smile when you come across them...something we can all use these days. The parking lot is a good size guaranteeing you'll always find a spot.

One of the best community parks in triangle. It's similar to the lake Johnson but way better. It's also like bond park in Cary but the lake is much larger. It's also very close to Costco so you can spend some time in the park then go shopping. Very convenient location

Really nice trail and play areas for children. A bit crowded for a peaceful or prayerful walk. Biking and groups walking. Well maintained with restrooms, water fountain with a pet bowl. Very nice.

Love it here. Great place year round. Plenty of green in the summer and lots of color in the fall. 3+ miles worth of trails (2 paved, 1+ natural). Never too busy and more than ample parking. Always well maintained so you can walk it, run it, or bike it. They've also recently updated the picnic tables and new seating / benches in just the right spots for the perfect view. Definitely recommend!

Took a nice walk tonight with the pups and hubby. What a nice park. The 2 mile loop hugs the water and makes for a beautiful backdrop for photo aficionados like myself. Plenty of stops along the way with bags and trash cans so you can curb your dogs. It also has a water fountain about a mile into the path where the pups can rehydrate as well! Very nice park that I will be visiting again and again.

It also has a big range of play equipment for different age ranges. Did I mention that I love this park? There are cool statues inspired from fantasy themes like a lion with a squirrel body or a tortoise with a hare's head as well as a giant sea monster on a hill, complete with a nest of eggs. There's also an area with water spray thingies. That's my best attempt at describing them. They had been off for the winter but they're back on since a couple weeks ago! The kids love it especially with the weather heating up!

The park is in heavy usage and it seems like due to this, likely, there are often things broken here. A bench, a fence, etc. There are multiple different play areas and a water play area. It's a delightful park to visit. We have played here for two hours straight. There is a covered picnic area that you can rent and people often do so for kids birthdays. The variety of play experience make this play so popular - sandbox with play excavators, climbing areas, platform rocks, a tree house area, dragon area, water play, slides and Roller slides, instruments, young kids play areas. This park is recommended (by me).

Very nice new (2018) playground in Wake County. Located next to Salem Schools, and a small path…read moreconnects this park to the Wake Zone Espresso coffee shop. There is a .5 mike path around a pond adjacent to the park. There are also three picnic tables next to the playground. A small dedicated parking lot with about 25 spots is adjacent. At this time, there is no bathroom available. The playground itself is cute and well thought out. It is a Train theme and the rubbery ground has some printed train tracks and other related pictures. There are three structures -- one for younger children, one for older children, and one for climbing. There are also two kid swings (no infant swings) and one circle swing more than one child can play on. There is no accessible swing in this playground. There's a small fake pond with a crawling log and a stone to climb. Overall, it's a nice playground with good, new equipment. There's a spinning cage to play in for the sensory inclined. There's a "ticket window" for some imaginative play, as well as a small place to sit with a table inside the play area itself. The playground is not fenced but is adjacent to a fenced soccer field. Equipment was hot in the hot summer sun, but that is to be expected when it is 95+ degrees out. The playground is small but has a lot to do, and it would be easy to keep an eye on more than one child at the same time in the space. Lack of a bathroom is annoying, but another excuse to go grab a coffee at the Wake zone then come back to let the kids play more. I look forward to the future greenway connection to Davis Drive playground.
