Great park with a 1 mile paved path as well as nature trails. Wooden bridge overlooks large pond full of turtles and fish. Clean restrooms with a porch and rocking chairs overlooking woods and bird feeders. Playground and picnic areas too. Easy parking.

My family visited Crowder County Park today after learning about a free family fun drop in event they were having on Saturday July 21 from 1-3p. Today's topic was all about Bees and the amazing ways they help us all! There was plenty of parking when we arrived and lots of beautiful grounds to see but today we were here to learn about the bees. Ashley, an employee with Wake County parks, greeted us with a big smike and was there to help start the process. She explained that there were activities on the Discovery Table for kids to enjoy and if we had any questions to let her know. My daughter began coloring her bee mask (I made my self one too) and picked up a word find puzzle to do later. After coloring our masks, we cut them out and took some fun photos in them. Now that we had our game faces, I mean bee faces on it was time to get busy as a bee on the scavenger hunt. Outside there were clues and facts about the bees that helpes us complete our mission. All in all it was a fun way to spend the day and very well organized.

This is an adorable little park. I don't live nearby at all, but it was only about 20 minutes from my apt in Raleigh so I figured it was worth checking out. Plus, it's a beautiful little county park and I'm on a mission to explore the area parks. A bunch of other Raleigh Chicks and a few dogs joined me this past Saturday and we had a great late morning outing. We all gathered outside the park office and alarmed one of the park rangers into thinking he was missing a program. He came out and we assured him that we were just meeting at the park office. Then he obliged in telling us about the park, their programs, and the best way to start our morning walk. One thing we thought was super cool was the Annual Frog Fest coming up on April 5th -- http://www.wakegov.com/parks/crowder/Pages/frogfest.aspx Regarding trails, there is an outer loop that is 8/10 of a mile and an inner loop around the pond that is 2/10 of a mile. If you follow the trail away from the park office to the left of the park entrance (if your back is to the entrance/office), make a right around the loop, and then left back up to the office then you've gone 1.1 miles. The trails are paved and mostly shaded, but they are working on developing some unpaved trails as well. I like the trails because they're wide, but also because they're not hilly so they make trail running easy for not so skilled runners like me. I think, like one of the other reviewers mentioned, they could mark the trails better. I looked for the Prairie Garden where it seemed like it should be, according to the map, and I did not see it. Maybe it was just hidden in the shade. The pond is small, but pretty and I imagine that the shade is great for the hot summer months. Park features: - 33 acres of landscaped grounds and hardwood forests - hiking - picnic - shelters - play areas - environmental education - educational gardens - volleyball I suppose one could complain that it's small, but I don't discriminate because of it being small since I know it's small. They're working on developing it and getting more out of their little site, but they seem to make the most of it.

We wanted to try a new playground (just to see what's available in the area) and we thought we'd give Crowder a try. We arrived somewhat early in the morning and the playground was still empty. It actually looked like a nice little playground with climbing structures of various sizes, slides galore, and even some of those bouncy animals to ride on. My toddler ran into the playground, so excited by the potential of a fun new park, and then kind of stopped. We convinced her to climb up one of the structures and showed her a few of the things to play with, and then she walked off the structure, refusing to use the slide. All of this is very unlike her especially when there isn't the distraction of lots of other kiddos around. She stood on near the side of the play area and asked us to stand with her. After a long minute of parental confusion, she told us she wanted to swing...and this playground does NOT have swings! So...if your little one(s) needs a swing, this park isn't the best. It does have lots of structures to climb, and tons of slides of various heights...but no swings. I'm still glad we checked it out, and hopefully when we're over the 'necessity for swings' stage we can enjoy this playground. It does look like fun!

My favorite park in the area. It has beautiful walking trails around the pond which is full of fish, turtles and a solitary duck. There are also three small playgrounds and one was just redone and has lovely musical instruments and a huge slide.

It's small, but quiet and peaceful. Lots of turtles in the lake.

It also has a big range of play equipment for different age ranges. Did I mention that I love this park? There are cool statues inspired from fantasy themes like a lion with a squirrel body or a tortoise with a hare's head as well as a giant sea monster on a hill, complete with a nest of eggs. There's also an area with water spray thingies. That's my best attempt at describing them. They had been off for the winter but they're back on since a couple weeks ago! The kids love it especially with the weather heating up!

The park is in heavy usage and it seems like due to this, likely, there are often things broken here. A bench, a fence, etc. There are multiple different play areas and a water play area. It's a delightful park to visit. We have played here for two hours straight. There is a covered picnic area that you can rent and people often do so for kids birthdays. The variety of play experience make this play so popular - sandbox with play excavators, climbing areas, platform rocks, a tree house area, dragon area, water play, slides and Roller slides, instruments, young kids play areas. This park is recommended (by me).

Very nice new (2018) playground in Wake County. Located next to Salem Schools, and a small path…read moreconnects this park to the Wake Zone Espresso coffee shop. There is a .5 mike path around a pond adjacent to the park. There are also three picnic tables next to the playground. A small dedicated parking lot with about 25 spots is adjacent. At this time, there is no bathroom available. The playground itself is cute and well thought out. It is a Train theme and the rubbery ground has some printed train tracks and other related pictures. There are three structures -- one for younger children, one for older children, and one for climbing. There are also two kid swings (no infant swings) and one circle swing more than one child can play on. There is no accessible swing in this playground. There's a small fake pond with a crawling log and a stone to climb. Overall, it's a nice playground with good, new equipment. There's a spinning cage to play in for the sensory inclined. There's a "ticket window" for some imaginative play, as well as a small place to sit with a table inside the play area itself. The playground is not fenced but is adjacent to a fenced soccer field. Equipment was hot in the hot summer sun, but that is to be expected when it is 95+ degrees out. The playground is small but has a lot to do, and it would be easy to keep an eye on more than one child at the same time in the space. Lack of a bathroom is annoying, but another excuse to go grab a coffee at the Wake zone then come back to let the kids play more. I look forward to the future greenway connection to Davis Drive playground.
