Really awesome park! The playground is currently closed for renovation. It looks like it is almost done so my guess is it will certainly be ready by Summer. We heard about this park through the story walk program. When we first arrived we could not find that story walk anywhere. Turns out we had just arrived too early in the day and the story work wasn't set out yet. Once it was out it was great. The story walk takes you along a loop and there is plenty to look at while you are walking it. It does get super muddy, so I couldn't recommend going after a rainy day. The trails are beautiful though! They also use crushed pine trees to help give the trails traction so the whole place smells like Christmas. Kind of magical in the middle of the trees! Even though it's March and most stuff isn't alive yet this spot still looked very much alive. The path we took, nothing was paved and it was really bump. Just keep that in mind as it's certainly not the trial to take a stroller to. We look forward to heading back again since they just put a new story walk story out!

Another excellent morning on a hiking trail in the Falls Lake area of Wake County. This trail is near Blue Jay Point County Park and is primarily near the shoreline of the lake. The entrance to this one is on Six Forks Road across from Wingspread Way. It is three miles round trip (in and out) and ends at a point that juts into the lake. It's quiet, peaceful and clearly marked. This time of year there are leaves covering the trail which does have a lot of tree roots so watch your step, there are a few ankle turners. I didn't see any deer today but there were plenty of birds. The point looks like a nice fishing spot, that'll be next time.

Came out here for a mid-day work break. Nice views of Falls Lake, especially from Blue Jay Point. There are (normally) tons of facilities available and there are some trails available though nothing too crazy. It does connect with the mountains to sea trail so theoretically you could keep going outside the park for an extended hike! Overall a nicely maintained park and a little quieter than some of the other places around Falls Lake!

Great hiking trails that loop around Falls lake. They also have playgrounds but oddly no swings. The tot playground has slides and a nice size sand lot with bouncy animals for the kids to get their energy out. The other play area has bigger slides and again, no swings. There are 5 miles of trails, a large field and picnic areas. You can fish here as well as bring your four legged friends on leash. We hiked a small part around the lake and it's easy enough, even for a two year old. Blue Jay park is located in the same area as Go Ape, the zip lining adventure place. The park is open from 8am to sunset and a nice place to spend a few hours enjoying mother nature.

Super fun park!! Even though some things were closed still due to COVID-19 it was still super super fun! Great trails! really quiet, and spacious. There is a actually campfire area with actual logs, and they have zip lining (which was unfortunately closed too right now) I can't wait to go back again when everything is open! I highly recommend! Great for families and animals also!!

I've enjoyed Blue Jay Point County Park on two separate occasions -- both in early February. It's on the outskirts of Raleigh past where Six Forks runs into 540. Their Education Center is currently undergoing renovations so I couldn't go inside to check it out. There is supposed to be an exhibit there which I"d love to check out. From what I read in the brochure, they put on educational group programs. There is also a natural Play Area and playground in addition to some open fields and a tee-ball area. On my first visit, I wandered about the 2 mile Falls Lake Trail on my own. While out there, I took my time and only saw three other people. On my next visit, February 9th, some girlfriends joined me. Again, I ventured to Falls Lake Trail to lead the group. It was quite beautiful out and I enjoyed sharing the beautiful view of Falls Lake with them. I give Blue Jay Point County Park four stars instead of five because I feel like their trails could be marked better. On both visits, I got confused as I was trying to follow the white blazes which mark the trail. They aren't consistent and when the trail intersects with shorter connector trails it's not very clear which way to go to stay on the path you're on. When you go out there, there are brochures with maps of the park and I would definitely grab one to ensure that you don't get lost. There are also two guide trails for the Azalea Loop Trail, in which you can identify trees, and the Birds of Blue Jay park guide as well. Detailed list of features: - 236-acre park located on the shores of Falls Lake in northern Wake County - hiking - picnic - play areas - fishing - environmental education - educational exhibits - educational gardens Enjoy one of Wake County's nice county parks at Blue Jay Point County Park. I look forward to checking it out once they're done with the upgrades on the Education Center.

So great for kids, especially my rambunctious toddler. I love that there are 2 places to play, separates age groups.
