Buffaloe Road Aquatic Center is a public mini indoor water park with waterslides, a lazy river and lap lanes located within Raleigh Park's Buffaloe Rd Athletic Park. It is open year round. You can also rent it out for birthday parties. This is an affordable option for families who cannot afford the large theme parks. I paid $4 per child for admission. The staff was professional and worked hard to keep track of abiding by capacity rules by using a system similar to restaurant reservations where you receive a text message when it's your swim time. There was a Hour and 15 min wait for the Memorial Day holiday. We remained in the waiting area which has a television for kids to enjoy a movie while waiting. My daughter loved the large yellow slide and whirl pool. We intend to visit again. Loved how professional the front desk staff and life guards were. A must do when in Raleigh. read more

I've been here with my family millions of times and for a public pool it's amazing I highly recommend it, as there is something for everybody! There is a amazing waterslide that I can't stop going on , a lazy river , a tide pool and even lanes for the more professional swimmer. I have been to the Buffalo Aquatic Center before for a birthday party but this was my first time going there to host a birthday party! I brought my Girl Scout Troop here for their fun project! And they loved it. The center is situated in a parking lot by itself and their is plenty of parking as well as handicapped parking! So that was great. We got a park near the back but the walk wasn't bad at all! When we arrived they already had our list out for us to sign because we had booked a party! Which was great if you don't book a party then you have to wait and the line was crazy! We had the party section and it was nice! It's a little dated but it still did what it was suppose to do for us. The staff was very nice + helpful too. Which was great. The place is very strong with chlorine. So be ware of that! They make the children get out of the pool for adult swim which doesn't last very long but that's hard to explain to a four year old. The bathrooms are also very clean. Overall nice place and I wish more people knew about it! read more

Fun for the whole family! It's a pool and mini indoor water park! There's a large water slide for older children and adults, lap lanes, a whirlpool area,a children's area with kiddie slide, sprinkler and water play features. They have dressing rooms and a family changing area. Lockers are free to use but don't have locks so you'd need to bring your own if wanted. They also have vending machines which take credit/debit cards. The pool also has adult swim where children need to leave the water for a short amount of time. I believe it happened ever hour. The place does have a strong chlorine smell but I'd definitely go back. read more

We love it here. By we I mean me and my 19 moth old. They have an infant/toddler swim area, a larger pool for shooting hoops, or sitting on the bench in the water, a lazy river, a vortex, a small lap pool and a separate pool area for the three story twirly slide. My son was beyond excited to be here. He would have stayed all day and night. For people with little ones, be mindful of the buckets that dump water. They are powerful and would knock over or possibly hurt your little one. They were strong enough to knock the hair tie out of my hair and to untie my bikini top. They have family bathrooms. So, I never saw the locker room. The family changing area/ bathroom is a good size and perfect for a family with small kids. My son did get his knuckles stuck in the holes in the seat though. Little trouble maker I guess. They also have lockers. The facility is clean and spacious. The staff was all friendly and they have a lot of life guards on staff. read more

Fairly modern facilities but poor maintenance. You can feel grit on the bottom of the pool. The water is heavily chlorinated and you can smell it before you even walk in the door. There is mold on the walkways all around the pool. Bathrooms are NOT clean. Gang presence is heavy. read more

I noticed the rating was super low, and that's because of the one-star rating from someone not even from the area. I felt I had to give the Buffaloe Road Aquatic Center a more accurate rating. During the summer, we probably hit this pool three or four times per week. My boys learned to swim underwater here, prepare for snorkeling on our vacation, and they LOVE the waterslide. They also enjoyed the kids fun area when they were smaller. They also have basketball here, a whirlpool area, lazy river, etc. The staff couldn't be any nicer. Every time we go they're super helpful. It gets a bit crowded on the weekends, and it isn't my cup of tea to be elbow to elbow with people, but everyone is different. This pool is ALWAYS spotless, including the shower areas, locker room, etc. I don't know what that person from West Virginia was talking about, but this facility is top-notch and letting ONE visit and perceived bad experience shouldn't mean a besmirching of an entire staff and facility. read more

For a public pool, this place is pretty special. Big slide for tweens, kids area for tots and a lazy river for both tweens and tots. A few tables for adults not wishing to swim. Life jackets provided. Lifeguards get a 10 minute break every hour on the hour when they are at capacity and everyone has to get out of the pool during those breaks. I think that is pretty standard of all public pools. Public lockers are free, but no locks are provided. You can bring your own. Pool fee can be paid with major cards except discover and vending machines take credit cards too. Because it isn't your typical public pool, it can get very crowded and sometimes they make everyone on the waiting list wait outside. We have left disappointed before after arriving to find them over crowded with far too many hopefuls waiting outside when it was super hot or rainy. Today I called ahead to confirm they were not at capacity, and in the 15 minutes it took us to drive there, they had become so. Fortunately today the wait was only 10 minutes so kids got to swim. read more

Great facilities. The pool is fantastic with a lot of activities for kids to rotate between (water slide, lazy river, whirlpool, basketball hoop, a space for really young ones to splash around in). There are two extremely nice family changing rooms, each with their own shower and toilet. They are total lifesavers. There is also room to sit and eat snacks. Everything is clean, staff is friendly, the price is reasonable. Kudos to the lifeguards as they are always extremely attentive. It's clear they take the job seriously. The facility is also accessible via the greenway, so biking here is a possibility. read more

We've been here a few times now. We're taking swim lessons. It's a beautiful facility with really friendly staff. The prices seem fair for in county residents. The pool itself is really cool with lots of neat features which include a huge water slide, swim lanes, toddler splash area with a slide, lazy river, vortex, and a bubble area. The pool is clean and bright. The only thing that isn't the best are the dressing rooms. Not much room when you're trying to get toddlers ready to go home after class when another class is coming in. Have to be 4 ft to do the slide, which is perhaps the most fun thing there. Rest is nice for a city facility. There's a volleyball net, a play area for lil ones, a whirlpool and a lazy river. None of them are too big, but the lifeguards are pretty good about keeping everybody moving. Changing facilities are clean and spacious. read more

we love this pool a lot. the facilities are clean and nice and the toddler play area is awesome. the slide is cool but the height restrictions are a bit much. seems more like 38 inches would be more appropriate, or allow a smaller child to go with a parent. the only real problem with this facility is that it is FREEZING! the water is cold, the air is cold (probably due to the dehumidifier). we frequently have to leave much earlier than we normally would because my daughter is blue and shivering. doesn't seem worth the higher price if we're not able to stay as long as we'd like. currently looking for a warmer pool in the area. read more

I think the pool water is way to cold, the vending machines will charge your cards and not even let you get any snacks, they make the place way to strict, the chemical in the pool are way to strong and the life guards even look miserable. I do not think I will return there. read more

We recently went here a few times - the pool is nice and the staff are very nice/friendly. Our problem - the water is too cold and the bathrooms have a serious problem with the shower drains backing up/clogged. Completely gross and a health hazard. It looks like no one is sweeping the floor in the women's or family bathrooms either - hair everywhere. For a swim facility the bathrooms should be very clean. The drains backing up is very alarming. Also - the pool is salt water and the amount of salt (bromine?) is very high - bring goggles and you will need a shower if you or your kids have sensitive skin. read more
