TLDR: Beautiful lake (previously a stone quarry) for dive schools, experienced divers, and inflatable water park visitors. Make a reservation and complete the online waiver in advance for the water park as they do sell out. Kayaking, paddle boarding, picnic shelter, lockers, cabana, chair, and umbrella rentals available. Lifeguards on duty and life jackets required at the water park. Bathrooms, concession stand, and seating areas available. We visited Fantasy Lake on a Sunday after receiving numerous recommendations from friends and colleagues. We chose the earliest time (9-11 am) and arrived 30 minutes early as recommended. 2 hr passes were $40 each. Checking in was smooth and quick. Have your order number ready as you drive up. A friendly employee will greet you as you arrive in your vehicle to check you in and ensure you completed the online waiver. You can then proceed around the lake to the parking area. We parked near the front of the lot and walked to the entrance. There you check in again to get your wristbands. Proceed to the life jacket area or set your stuff down first. We paid an extra $20 for a chair and umbrella rental. I'm glad we chose to do this even if it wasn't sunny. It was a cloudy day so the weather was perfect. At 8:50 am they blew the whistle and children excitedly ran to the inflatable area. We finished getting ready and headed over. We had a blast. Being all adults we were unsure what to expect and loved it. Are we exhausted? Yes. Did we wipe out numerous times? Also yes. Would we go back again? Definitely. I appreciate how they limit the number of tickets to prevent overcrowding. Some areas, for instance the slides, did get backed up, but usually we did not have to wait long. The obstacles are certainly easier for children, but doable for adults. I especially enjoyed the larger slides in the back, the swing, trampoline, and cliff dive area. Main areas for concern were right under the jump areas in the inflatable park. Pay attention to where people are jumping so that you do not swim under them. Lifeguards are strategically positioned and kept everyone safe and repeat rules as needed. Some even gave us hints for how to get across obstacles without falling. Afterwards we changed and left, however, with your ticket you can stay all day if desired. They have a sandy beach, food truck, concession stand, and games. The park is a little pricy, however, a cheaper alternative to going to the beach or an amusement park. Overall, we had a great time and recommend this park to others!

the man on the left is the rude manager

I was at the park august 19th with some friends and we had a good time for the most part until the last 10 minutes of our trip there. it was time for us to leave and like 5 feet from the dock i removed my life jacket and this management dude starts YELLING and CURSED at me. I left the water and went off of the dock to my stuff because we were about to leave. As i was packing up he FOLLOWS me and my friends to our table where we were grabbing our items. He proceeds to insert himself in front of me and say YOU NEED TO LEAVE THIS PARK IMMEDIATELY and i'm like yeah i will im just gonna grab some items from my friends mom to take to her car. Then he follows me out just staring me down and curses at me and was very rude about the whole situation, like dude it's not that big of a deal. This dude was a complete man-child and couldn't control himself talking to a kid. I hope they do something about this. Now i'm seeing more reviews and this dude must be the manager or owner and he was rude to other people this dude needs to find somewhere else to work. DUDE ON THE LEFT IS THE RUDE OWNER OR MANAGER.

I absolutely love this park. My husband is a Native of Jamaica, and we travel often to the Caribbean Islands. Mr. Daniel & family (the owner) brought to the backyard of Wake Forest, NC. an amazing stay-cation! We've done many venues in nc, and by far, this is the best one yet! Felt like we were out of the country... For much less dollars! . now that's a place worth returning to over and over again. Great staff, the love shown to us from the gate was absolutely awesome! Oh yeah...and the food is great!! #JerkManIslandCuisine #Patrick&PatriciaEuwing

This is a great place to go to get in the water if you don't have time to travel far and to conduct training and practice your SCUBA skills. Carolina Dive Center hosts an annual treasure hunt & BBQ every July, which is a great time. Only divers can use the park, and it costs $20 per person to enter. You need to bring your gear and tanks, they don't rent at the park. It is a Quarry so depending on the time of year it's going to be cold with terrible visibility. It's fun to come in the summer when the HUGE sunfish make their nests. You can't fish in this quarry so the fish are huge.

Love this diving location! I am from Michigan and took some dive courses here in NC, and can't believe how beautiful and functional this adventure park is. I'll miss it until I come back!

Family had an awesome time here. All of the staff was amazing! I lost my watch while at the park but the dive team recovered it along with many other lost watches later that week. Can't say how grateful I was to see that they had found it and I was able to pick it up the day after they posted it on Facebook. Would definitely come back again... I just won't be wearing my watch next time!

Just sitting here waiting with a whole group of other folks with no idea what's going on!!

We had reservations for a Sunday afternoon. Sure it was stormy today but it's not storming now and no one let us know before we drove all the way here that the afternoon was cancelled and no one was available on the phone. Wow horrible customer service.

I was certified as a Basic Scuba Diver in 1978 (more about this later). After 30+ years, I decided…read moreto renew my interest in scuba diving on a vacation to Antigua. I took the resort's refresher course and felt pretty good about my skills. On the first open water dive, I had difficulty descending below 30 feet. The dive instructor sent me back to the boat. As soon as I returned from Antigua, I discovered that PADI revised the requirements for certification in 1987 without notifying me of the change. I searched online for dive instructors in the Raleigh, NC area. I contacted another dive shop as well as Kevin about my needs. Only Kevin returned my call/email. Kevin's online reviews all seemed very good so I called him and left a brief message explaining that I wanted to upgrade my Basic diver certification to an Open Water certification (which is what I thought I had originally). Kevin was down in Cozumel on a dive trip (which I strongly suggest) but called me back within a day or two. We discussed my situation and he suggested a "hybrid" approach consisting of the areas that PADI had added to my original training that I could do along with a group course he had starting the following month. (He was scheduled to teach one "diver" to swim before teaching scuba - that's how accommodating he is). The group cancelled so I basically had individual lessons, customized just for me, at no additional cost. In- pool activities were at a local Raleigh pool with "open water" dives at Fantasy Lake, which is a great place to dive. Because of Kevin's understanding and flexibility, I essentially took the whole open water course and was re-certified as Open Water Diver within one month. I strongly recommend Kevin Alexander for scuba instruction for all levels of divers. I have since completed the Advanced Open Water course while on a dive trip with Kevin to Cozumel.

They don't allow reservations, but since they did not have any classes scheduled the weekend I inquired about, they assured they would have adequate supplies and they did! When we arrived to rent the equipment, the employees greeted us right away. They patiently answered our questions and helped us select the right items since it was our first time renting. They clearly explained the cost and tried to save us money rather than talking us into spending more. In addition to rental equipment they sell scuba gear, hold classes, and host events and trips. They have a heated pool on-site and offer private and semi-private classes. Their training agency is SSI (Scuba Schools International). I was never able to get open water certification because of the pressure on my ears but Mike Welch was incredibly patient and others in the shop had numerous suggestions for me to try. Ultimately I gave up after numerous attempts and got a full refund of the entire tuition even though I had completed the lessons, used their equipment to try and get the outdoor signoff completed, and taken a lot of their time. I would highly recommend the shop if you are wanting to try getting certified and you don't have to worry about losing the large sum of money if you don't make it. I feel like I'm also very comfortable with all of the skills needed but am just held back by my ears! thank you Mike and Gypsy.

In Raleigh? Durham? Drive the extra distance. It's worth it. Second, Thomas and Co undoubtedly know their craft. There are experts, and then there are THE experts. I don't have the largest sample size, but of the shops I've visited in NC and FL, Air Hogs Scuba has THE experts in the field. There is not a question I have asked that has not just been answered but answered in-depth with explanations and reasons why. Third, Thomas has been imparted with Forbidden Knowledge only granted by the Goddess of the Deep after your 1,000th dive about regulator service. I brought my regs in for service, fully ready to get a new pair because they kept leaking at the end of a season. Thomas discouraged me from getting new ones, instead explaining why they did that, what I could do to fix it on the fly, and what he could do to tune my regs to be the best they've been. I just finished using them on eight dives of various depths after service, and not only do they not leak or have any issues; they breathe better than any set I've ever used. The only restriction I had breathing was tweaking the flow setting to try to optimize my breathing effort. The work blew me away. And they work on Hog gear, which many shops won't touch. Finally, I want to say Thomas and those at Air Hogs are genuinely lovely people looking out for the diver and not their bottom line. They went out of their way to ensure I got my regs back in time for a dive. I went in to talk about getting a new BC setup, and Thomas encouraged me to dive a new setup first before spending money on it and even offered customizations if I did decide to go with the new setup (plate & wing). I got the impression I would have to convince HIM to sell me one without trying it first! That's just good customer service and good (diver) community service, in my opinion. Again, I HIGHLY recommend Air Hogs Scuba. They are knowledgeable, professional, friendly, and genuinely care about their customers and craft.
