first off, i want to highlight my experience with Toni, one of the personal trainers. i came in and he was doing a 1 minute plank = 5 minutes of stretching session. max 3 minutes. he displayed professionalism throughout my session with him. i've been a member at life time in the past in another state and had a great experience. this location is just as good, if not better. [[HIGHLIGHT]]staff are friendly and helpful and the gym has a lot of amenities.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] the weight room can get packed during peak hours but they are closed until midnight which is nice for anyone who chooses to workout late. they have towels, shampoo, mouth wash, hair spray, hair dryers, shaving cream and razors, and deodorant in the locker rooms. the price is definitely worth it if you use the amenities. read more

Lately, this gym has experienced a concerning increase in security incidents. On June 29, virtually every locker in the locker room was reportedly broken into, and cash was stolen from multiple members, including me. Based on the damage I personally saw, there were wood chips and an indentation on the locker door that made it appear it may have been forced open with a crowbar or similar tool. Previous reviews have also reported vehicles being broken into in the parking lot, making the overall security situation even more alarming. [[HIGHLIGHT]]What is even more frustrating is the lack of communication and accountability. The situation was handled very poorly. Emails go unanswered, and corporate has been extremely difficult to reach or get any meaningful response from.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] After an incident involving so many members, I expected much better communication and support instead of feeling like everyone was left to figure things out on their own. Members should be able to work out without worrying about having their cash or valuables stolen in broad daylight. This facility needs stronger security measures, better monitoring of the locker rooms and parking areas, and more visible security personnel. I tried to cancel swim team for my kids and the Aquatics director refused my refund request. The GM actually backed her up and I had to get corporate involved. Very disappointing experience at Life Time Athletic. One of the biggest issues is the complete lack of enforcement around the outdoor hot tub. The posted rules clearly state that the hot tub is for ages 12 and older, yet there are regularly groups of children who appear to be well under that age using it. Every now and then a lifeguard comes over and asks about their age, but by now the kids seem to know exactly what to say: "We're 12." The lifeguard accepts the answer and leaves. What's even more frustrating is that after the lifeguard walks away, I've heard some of these kids laughing about the fact that nobody can do anything about it. The issue isn't simply that children are in the hot tub. Personally, I wouldn't have a problem with kids enjoying it. The problem is the lack of supervision and enforcement. On numerous occasions I've seen children eating in or around the hot tub, with pieces of food ending up in the water. It's unsanitary and completely unacceptable. I don't know when management and the lifeguard staff stopped caring, but when you're charging some of the highest membership fees in the area, members should expect much better standards. Rules should either be enforced consistently or changed altogether. Another disappointing change is the replacement of many of the water fountains with units that don't clearly show the status of the water filter. Members should be able to easily see whether a filter is functioning properly or needs replacement. As a result of some construction work at the swimming pool, the location I normally visit was closed. Thus, I visited here with my fiancé and was greatly impressed. There is a jacuzzi located at the women's locker room, which is very picturesque. This facility allows you to relax in a convenient and comfortable manner. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful! I love the variety of classes available and machinery/equipment to use. There's a bit of Something for everyone. The annual unlimited tea tumbler is a great bargain and IMO a must buy for these sweltering hot summer days. Cooling off in the pool and rehydrating with a cool tea or coffee for the duration of the summer ( Labor Day) is wonderful. The shower and locker room amenities are convenient as well. Kind of surprised to see the low ratings here. It is a bit pricey, but gyms with this many amenities usually are. I love that I can swim, do yoga, lift weights, take classes, etc. all in the same places. I like the convenience of them having towels and toiletries for when I am going right to work, and the spas/sauna/steam rooms are great for after workout. Staff is generally quite friendly, and they have long hours. My only complaint is that it can get kind of crowded, but in this area, that's to be expected. read more

From the road, you can tell this is a first-class facility. I can't review too much, as I only dropped in for a single swim session. The front desk staff was very helpful in assisting the check in process. She had not done many of them, but got it done very quickly, all while checking other members in for their workouts. The facility, though very large, was easy to navigate. A full service locker room with towel service, towels, sauna, and whirlpool were all nice. They were clean ready to use. There were plenty of lap lanes available , even with it being somewhat crowded for a Friday night. It was a pleasurable and convenient location for a quick workout. This is overall a really great place to be a member of. The facilities are super nice and the showers, sauna and all common areas are always being cleaned. The only drawback is the warm lap pool. There is no time limit for being in a lane and several of the members totally abuse this. There are numerous people who swim way over an hour and monopolize the pool lanes even when they know people are waiting. It would be so simple to have to sign up for a lane for no more than 45 minutes to an hour max which would help to enforce time limitations and also keep the abusers from monopolizing the lanes. Between the physical therapy lane and then the lanes for the swim lessons late afternoon, this can be a real problem in getting a lane to swim in. If the club doesn't want to bother with the sign ups for the lanes, there should be some major change in putting up signs that an hour max is total limit for occupying a lane. This would still rely on the "honor" system but at least those abusing the situation would maybe think twice about their actions. read more

Blatant discrimination going on at this location. 4 guest playing basketball (myself included) were kicked off the basketball courts at 12:30pm on a Friday (August 19th) and were told that basketball is no longer offered during the hours of 8AM-6PM weekly because of "kids camp"... WHAT? But now pickle ball is offered from open to close with special reservations with the "Signature Membership"? Think of the people who play pickle ball and who play basketball... also, mind you, there were two people playing pickle ball on the whole other side of the court when we were kicked off. Pros and cons for this place. There are always cardio machines available, but the majority have broken screens so don't expect to watch TV. It's nearly impossible to use free weights there because they are always taken and people stay forever on the equipment. I've never seen an open bench to use. Classes are good but packed and the timing of classes isn't great for anyone who has a job. The cafe is nice and smoothies are good. The account manager people are vultures though and prepare yourself for straight up harassment until you join. I've avoided bringing friends, even though many are interested, because I don't want to subject them to the incessant daily phone calls and emails. It's so inappropriate and I don't know who advised Lifetime that this is a good business model. Tl/dr: good facility but don't expect to easily get on machines or for equipment to be working properly. And expect to be incessantly harassed by staff if you let them know you're thinking about joining. read more

Been a member since they opened the first location in Cary. Started going to the N Raleigh location for a while now. Primarily use the gym only but the facility is well kept and clean. No major issues other than the monthly membership kept creeping up. This latest rate increase made it not worth it for me. For others it may be worth it if you go regularly and use all the amenities. My disappointment was not only with another rate increase but also with how the cancellation was handled. They had just charged me for the upcoming month. I then received a notice that my rate would be going up again starting next month. You have to cancel in person so during my next workout, I asked them to cancel my membership after my month was up. I was then told I have to give them 30 days notice so they would still charge me at a prorated amount. I can understand under normal circumstances 30 days notice is reasonable but they are the ones that raised the rate and causing me to cancel. For this reason, wouldn't it be reasonable to allow members to cancel after the current paid month was up? While it's only about an additional week I'd have to pay, it's the principle. On the bright side, looking forward to finding a new gym in the area. read more

Member for several years. At this moment I'm the "Duke" with 209 check ins. There won't be a 210. Walked in at 3pm trying to quickly get in a workout and a bite from Chick-fil-A. I was told not so nicely that "outside food is not permitted" then blah blah blah about policies. My policy is I don't pay some of the highest gym membership dues in the country to not be allowed to use MY membership in a way that is convenient to me. I had a short window to eat, exercise and shower. This business doesn't understand they exist for their members - not vice versa. Also the men's sauna is NASTY. In search of a new gym I called around to find out who has a day pass to checkout the facilities. On the phone I was informed I could utilize a no obligation day pass but when I got here it was a different story. The charge for a day pass is $30 per person. I truly think that is very pricey. In order to avoid the fee you would have to sit with a membership rep, take a tour and go over their full sales pitch. Needless to say I didn't stay. If I call and I get info and then I go there and get different info, I don't want to be in business with that company. If a day pass is $30 then I can only imagine the cost of a monthly membership or the contract you would have to sign. I been a member going on 4 years. When I first got there the facilities were emaculent. The weight room always easy to maneuver through. The basketball courts clean and swept. The basketball goals safe for play. As time went on the care for the facility in the gym area mainly the goals are not maintained properly. Leaves open opportunities for members and guest of members to possible get hurt. At the high price tag we pay to be there this should never be a issue but it is. Numours time issues have been reported but no change. Lights flickering in the gym where basketball is played. Turning on and off. They been like that for at least a month if not longer. I work a lot and have been under a lot of stress. I was hoping to try out the gym and see if it would be a good fit for me. I clicked on the link for a free pass thinking I would swing by this afternoon. No free pass was given, instead 10 minutes later I received an email asking me a bunch of questions. In addition, there was no place to answer these questions, just a statement that "I will be in touch soon". I was not looking for an interrogation or a conversation, just to see if this gym will work for me. I guess this answers my question, if I can't try it out easily using it on a regular basis is not going to work for me. I recommend that telling people your "free pass" involves multiple conversations before you ask for their information. read more

I've been coming to Life Time since October 2018 and I have absolutely loved my time here. I am the type who needs classes, and there's a wonderful variety here. My go to's are Zumba and Barre and there's a bunch of others I haven't even tried yet. I also like to run and I'm never scrambling to find a treadmill - plenty of machines. Though, my favorite are the Woodways! I have two young children and the Kids Academy has been fantastic. My kids can stay for up to 3 hours! This mom can take a class, swim, shower, read, whatever, all while my children are having fun and being well taken care of. The staff know my kids by name and we've never had a bad experience. It can absolutely get hectic at times, but they handle it well. My best advice as a parent is to get there early and be patient during those times. There are lots of great classes for the kids to take, but there is limited space. If nothing else, they can draw, climb, slide, play with blocks etc, even if they can't get into a scheduled class. The toddler zone is blocked off and huge! Shoutout to Ms. Dana, Mr. Mike, Ms. Jazmin, Ms. Marin, Ms. Adela, and SO many others that I'm failing to remember for taking care of my kids with a smile! The facilities are clean, the outdoor pool is awesome, the swim lessons were great for my son, the cafe peeps are friendly (smoothies are delish). I really could go on and on and I sort of have. A few drawbacks/areas of improvement: yes, it's pricey, but if you go all the time and take advantage of all there is to offer, you get your money's worth, in my opinion. The junior membership even includes a parents' night out once a month, where you can actually leave and go have a date night. Some of the front desk folks have been a little grumpy/unfriendly, so that could be improved. Honestly, some of the patrons are super annoying and that's not Life Time's fault. Like, dude, don't park in the "reserved for parents of young children" spots if you don't actually have children. There are group training classes that reserve equipment during certain times, but just take note and find another machine. It's not that hard and they've made improvements to not get in the way as much as before. The facility is huge and the Kids Academy is about as far as it can get, so do give yourself extra time in the parking lot, which can get crazy, and the walk itself. You'll be happier and more chill if you do. I clearly have a lot of thoughts about this place, and I'll continue being a member for the near future. Started a membership with them in July 2018. Great selection of equipment, and extra classes like yoga, pilates etc (some with a extra cost though) Absolutely love the indoor basketball court. My family has endured serious beat-downs by their middle-aged Mom on that court. Nice enough staff too. I have a few that always acknowledge you and speak. Unfortunately I have left a mediocre rating due to the cleanliness of the facility though. The women's locker room could stand to have more sanitizing, and wiping down. I've looked at the same fingerprints in the private enclosed dressing area mirror, and locks of hair in corner for three weeks now and that creeps me out. Also the women's jacuzzi, and the indoor pool needs to be drained and cleaned. I see a film of oil on top of the water with lil debris, hair etc. As well as a ring of dirt around the water line of both. This is unacceptable, especially given the pricing of the membership. The locker room staff do keep it fully stocked with clean towels, and that I do appreciate! Lifetime have also added a chiropractic clinic, which I haven't tried, but adds to the line-up of services offered. Also, to note-- I tried the on site cafe and was pleasantly surprised. My breakfast was awesome both days. This Lifetime location is huge, and has great offerings. I love attending, and hope that the cleanliness is addressed so that we can attend even more! read more

Here is the deal. If you have a kid or two this is a no brainer especially in summer. Pool is beyond nice and big enough even when lots of folks are here. I came from Vegas as a Diamond Life Time member and ready to sign up with my wife. The sales manager was way too fast, he spoke really softly, never talked in our direction, and was not personable at all. I had to stop on my own and look around. To top it off, they would not honor their price of just yesterday that was $20 less a month because it was "corporate" which I know isn't true because they have done this before and they have done such things in Las Vegas. Plus, the outdoor spa was broken with no idea when it will be ready and a unknown pool fee for next year with no idea how much. Then I called the GM and floor manager with no response at all. Great gym, I would highly recommend to anyone, training with one of the personal trainers ( Raheem) has been a great experience for someone like me, who has never been in the gym before, and will be continuing, he's very good at what he does, very consistent and helpful. It took me a long time to allow myself to check this place out because I knew it cost so much more than my other gym I was going to. That other gym cut their group class offerings at the location I liked to go to so much that it led me to visit Lifetime Fitness with a friend and of course I was hooked immediately, just as I knew I would be. They have so many group classes to choose from that start early morning to as late as 6:45pm. That in itself sold me but really folks the facilities are so nice, clean, expansive and plentiful that it is worth the extra money to join here. I love my new gym! Everything is shiny, new and clean! We shopped around for a gym a membership when we first moved to Raleigh and after we took a tour of this Lifetime location we fell in love. For the price of my little family of three it is quite comparable to some other gyms around but they didn't offer all of the bells and whistles. The pool is beautiful and they even have a little poolside cafe if you get get a hankering for a snack. The coconut popsicles are delicious. There are smoothies, sandwiches, and salads as well. They offer many classes daily from morning to evening. From spin to hot yoga to Zumba and On occasion there are Yoga under the stars classes. There's an outdoor training track, plenty of brand new workout machines for weight lifting and cardio, lap pools (indoor and outdoor), saunas, hot tub (indoor and outdoor) family locker room, two basketball courts, childcare, two cafes, doctors office and a spa. I'm sure there are plenty more amenities that I haven't even found out about yet! There's ample parking. Even when it looks crowded its not. Go check it out! There are always promotions going on to get you signed up. Another perk is there are no contracts! Yippee. There's a rather hefty membership fee at the beginning but they run promotions on that on occasion as well. Open daily 4am-12am. read more
