The ladies who work at this shop never have a bad hair day. I & S is a distributor of everything to do with hair. There is a wide selection of human hair wigs, ranging from about $60 to $100. There are also synthetic ones for less. So if you fancy yourself a part-time red head, but don't want to dye it, a wig is a perfect accessory for going out (or staying in!) to spice things up a bit. There is every hair product imaginable here, from lacquer and relaxing creams to hair spray and hair goop. There also seems to be a wide variety of products for African-American women, including hair relaxants, straighteners, darker make-up, etc. read more

The staff do NOT know their stuff! Not only do they ignore you until you ASK for help, but when they tell me something that I KNOW is completely wrong it makes me question even asking for any help at all.... needless to say I had to call my hairdresser and she helped me get the right things haha that looks pretty bad on you guys! Hire some people with knowledge or at least educate them! read more

Stay away from this place please, the lady who is the ceo Courtney Barrett will not answer to complaints about his company. He puts it off to Daniella a manager who is only a manager . Courtney maybe you should start answering to the complaints before we all push to have you closed . Also if you search his company on Facebook he has it so that you can't put a comment on their. Now I just called to file a complaint the voice I recognize as the guy who was standing next to Daniella but would not reveal who he was , lol what a waste of a company. He would not let us know he was the ceo of this company are you that embarrassed of your company . read more

Staff at this location suck. Go to the whyte ave or west end location. Always get great help at those locations.

If there was a zero that is what I would have selected for the clareview location of images and shades. If you ever buy a gift card from them make sure you use a debit or credit card to get a paper trail. my boyfriend got me a $50 gift cardand $100 for my stocking stuffer I made a purchase of $117 and they said the balance on the card was 0. they just suck and are not helpful except for the lady who has gone on maternity leave. the new manager is even worse. I am no longer going to get stuff from them, I discovered a store on 118 Ave and 93 called MAMA AFRO they have a wide variety of hair and hair products. They stole my $33 read more

If I could put ZERO I would. Offering zero refunds/exchanges on products that your staff is not experts on is complete garbage. Spend $300 on extensions that, once I brought home and showed my friends, could see clearly did not match my hair at all. Store manager offered no help on returning or exchanging product.Unfortunately, same thing happened to my girlfriend who asked for a particular hair colour and was given the incorrect one, only to be offered zero help whatsoever, yet again. Will not be back, nor will I be recommending this place to anyone. read more

I have not had a customer experience this bad, ever! If I could give zero stars I would. My fiance and I dealt with everyone from the sales associates, district manager, and even the owner. My fiance bought some hair extensions for our wedding, since she had never bought extensions she asked the associates for their expertise. For some reason they recommended she buy extensions much darker than her normal hair, saying that she could dye them. Not having any experience with extensions she bought the hair. It turns out that in order to get them the color she wanted, my fiance would have to bleach and dye them and effectively ruin the extensions. When we tried to simply exchange them we were told that they were final sale, no exceptions. When I explained to the owner and district manager that their staff had misdirected my fiance they accused my fiance of lying! Not only did they suggest that she had dyed her natural hair a different color and thus was unhappy about the extension color. But the owner even said my fiance was lying about not having taken them out of the box! (They were still in original package, tags on, clips intact, etc, etc). Here comes to kicker! When I offered to keep the set that we already had (which we paid full price for) and purchase a second at cost, the owner (Daniella) said that all she could do was offer 10% off! Please don't shop here! Take your business to people who care about you! read more

Images and Shades is a beauty supplies store mostly known for its great selection of human and synthetic hair extensions. I came here with one of my female friends who was looking to amplify her already amazing mane with human hair extensions. We spend a good hour at Images and Shades while the sales associate assisted my friend in choosing the right shade of extensions and demonstrated how to put them in properly. I don't care about extensions, so I browsed the store. My God, is this store stocked from top to bottom! There are tons of hair and skin care products, hair tools and accessories, make-up and then some. I was unfamiliar with most of the brands but this is to be expected since Images and Shades caters to salons and spas and not your average consumer. read more

I am a black woman and since I moved to Edmonton I've been getting many hair products from this store. They stock relaxers, hair colour, styling products, hair extensions, wigs, etc. Owner is knowledgeable and nice, sales associates are quite nice and helpful. They have 4 locations in Edmonton, and although some are better stocked than others, they will look up what you want and let you know where to get it. read more

I have never encountered ruder staff in my life. I have dealt with one girl (braids, grey extensions, always seems to be working) numerous times and every time I am appalled at how rude and holier-than-thou she is. I have been doing hair for decades and she talks down to me like I don't know what I am doing, even rolling her eyes at me and always trying to upsell me. I even caught her giving another customer misinformation to make a sale. I will never be returning here and I will tell everyone I encounter to avoid it like the plague. I would give this location with its awful customer service negative stars if I could. read more

I am someone who does not like to write negative reviews as people who write them have typically a bad outlook. Please let me start off by saying that the staff that are employed at the store are young and may not be experienced but they seem to take pride in their job and are willing to help. As soon as you have an issue they will pass you to the customer service specialist who is lacking in that area. She needs to take a lesson from the staff in the stores. My issue is the quality of the products that they sell and how they do not back the quality. I recently bought the Lord and Cliff Fusion hair and had it put in for my wedding. I had been doing research for months before deciding on which brand and what method to go with. Because I have fair/thin blonde hair the sew in weave would not work as it would have been lumpy because of how thin my hair is. I decided to go with the Fusion because I had my mom install that hair before and I liked the movement and abilities that I had with it. Please note I used Lord and Cliff (purchased online from a store in Vancouver) at that time and had it put in by my mom who is the furthest from a hair stylist! Since it wasn't a new type of hair for me I felt comfortable going with it! For the first 2 weeks the hair was amazing (the Lady who put the hair in did an amazing job and was super helpful!), then I come back home and the hair went crazy. It mats and knots itself up if left down for longer than 30 minutes. It will then take 40 minutes to brush out the knots. I do not think that it is unreasonable to expect that the hair should last longer than 2 weeks. I went back into Images and Shades to get some recommendations on what to use to restore the moisture and to reduce the number and intensity of the tangles. After using a mask that the girl swore by, it restores the moisture but made the tangling worse. I then went back in and asked what else and they said they had no clue. She then directed me to call the customer service lady named Tanika. This is where the negativity comes into play, she kept reciting some corporate jargon and did nothing to help me. She was not a solution seeker! In the end I contacted Lord and Cliff directly and they were willing to help out right away! I want to make note that I baby this hair because I want it to last 3 months. I am applying a leave in conditioner up to 3 times per day and the hair oil that was recommended to me from the Lady who put the hair in and have been using a hair masque nightly since coming back from Mexico (Hot and humid back to cold and insanely dry) as well as using a deep conditioning masque that Images and Shades told me to try to combat the dry tangles that happen. I sleep with my hair in a braid each and every night and do not use a lot of product. I will also apply a heat protector to my hair before blow drying and then again before using the straightener which is only used on the ends as I do not want to touch the bonds! So needless to say after this long review, I would not recommend going to Images and Shades because if you have a problem Tanika will not help you, she is condescending and not very good in the customer service field. They may have a lot of stuff there, but Diva's is right around the corner and the staff are much better! read more

Worst customer service experience @ the 104th St location, however- I cannot speak for the other locations in the city. If you want to spend good money for terrible quality then go there. There is no refund policy & my exchange/store credit was not honoured- even though the product was bought that same day & unopened. The staff member was argumentative & quite rude with me at the till. Furthermore, I believe if you're selling hair/cosmetic supplies you should make an effort to do your own hair & make-up; a detail this employee clearly missed. I formally complained to some supervisors & the manager. Save yourself time & grief- go to somewhere professional where the staff knows their product & at least are polite. Bad news of business travels quickly & due to my incident, I know friends & family who are in the industry that do not bring their business there anymore. Remember: treat your customers good & the courtesy will be returned. read more

I've been to this store a few times, purchased a few things. Last year I bought a dry shampoo. Took it home and the nozzle plugged up, Took it back and exchanged it. The very same thing happened again and took it back with the receipt 1 week later. The manager would not take it back, even though the other clerk picked up another bottle and the same thing had happened. Manager said there was nothing she could do. Will not be returning, they don't stand behind their products. read more

Horrible costumer service...bought extensions here and the hair fell off the weft and my hairdresser and manager did nothing about it claiming that we needed a receipt. The manager claimed, "She's not getting paid to look through receipts" and wasted three hundred dollars. read more

I have been buying hair for two years from images and shades it has always been the same hair Goddess Remy silky smooth. The hair itself has always been great quality. I wear it with a weave sew in and wear it for at least 3 months never any issues. I bought hair Goddess Remy silky smooth a week ago and had it installed two days after that was on a Wednesday. Sat I washed the hair for the first time. I have yet to flat iron it or blow dry it. I like to wash and let dry. The hair was an absolute mess when it dried! You can comb it it looks so nice a smooth but then go about your regular day for me it was simply unloading the dishwasher and the simple movements it took to turn my head from the dishwasher to the cupboard caused massive tangles. I called them asked to speak to the manager was told that I am speaking to her. I explained all this to her, she said that she would have to talk to the manager and get her to call me...............I am still waiting on that call. I went down there today to speak with them and to show them as I had not heard and I want them to be replaced as I cannot wear these this way. I spoke with the store manager. She was friendly i explained that i have used this particular brand of hair for 2 years now and never had any issues with it. I was shown spray detangler, shampoo etc etc this I have all of it. Have used the same products on all my weaves in two years and if fact generally with this brand of hair you do not even need the detangle stuff. She looked at the hair, opened up a new bag and held it to my hair (which is still in) and said are you sure that this is the same hair that you have the receipt for?? Yes I am sure I bought this hair on the Monday had it put in on the Wednesday and here we are a day less than a week with hair that looks like it has been in for over a year! She said that it must be something that I am doing with my hair. I could possibly see that if I have been doing something with it. I have done nothing to it yet not a blow dry not a flat iron a simple wash, conditioner and air dry on the Friday that is all. I cannot wear it down because of the tangles so it has been in a ponytail since then. She then told me that the best that she can do is give me 40 percent off the next bag. This is a nice offer but I do not understand WHY I would have to pay for another bag as it is less that a week old and clearly a defect with that bag of hair. She said we do not do exchanges or refunds. I can see if I bought the wrong color or length and then came back to exchange it as that would have been my fault for not checking prior leaving. I was not asking for my money back so no refund there. I simply wanted them to replace the defected hair with a new bag at no cost! It is not only the hair that cost money. So last week I paid $120 to have it installed plus the cost of hair at $115 now I have to go get this taken out at $50 and the new stuff put in for $120 (as the person installing it still has to be paid to do it it was not her fault the hair is bad) plus i had to pay 60 percent the cost of a new bag of hair. I think that if a product that you have at these images and shades are defected and they know the quality of this particular brand of hair is good they should stand by that product and replace it at no charge to the client. It is not as if I walked in there with no receipt or packaging. I had it all plus the hair on my head!! The pictures will show you the tangles (will try to load some pics) 5 minutes after it was combed smooth this was from unloading a dishwasher and it only gets worse and worse as the time goes on. Go to a different beauty supply store. A faithful customer who has spend $115 on a bag of hair every 3 months for the last 2 years and to replace one bag was an issue??? * On a good note I contacted the company and they offered me a $50 gift certificate to the store since I was not completely satisfied. Cannot load photo but can email if you wish! read more

Do not go to any of their locations. I purchased clip-in hair extensions a year ago and they lasted me for 8 months. But myself and 3 other ladies bought clip-ins this year and they lasted for one month. I re-purchased the $200 extensions and they only lasted for one month again. I called about getting a refund or exchange and they needed to know the exact date and time I was in when I bought them. They would not do a refund or exchange and could only tell the manufacturer that they may have made a bad batch. I spent $400 in 3 months for terrible extensions. Save yourself the money and go somewhere else. read more

i would give below zero , i spent 400.00 which is normal for me every 2 to 3 months an decided to buy sticks of glue since I had to get me hair done an had now time to order my regular glue . Ive been installing hair for 20 years an licensed an now an this time after 2 days my hair started shedding like crazy . went an talked to daniala at west location an was shocked how she insulted me saying they were installed wrong an that i shouldn't have bought their glue an that she's received no other complaints . this woman said the best she could do for me was give me free glue !!! she wouldn't give me owners number an owner didn't want to clear up this situation even though I have been buying hair from here 4 + times a year for over 12 years. the girls are so uneducated about anything in this store . the glue sticks are just sitting there not wrapped in airtight pages an daniala said its because they come in bulk , to lazy an cheap to package product properly . read more
