I have taken my 2003 Cobra to these guys a few times now *EDIT* and will NO LONGER BE TAKING MY CAR HERE! The two main guys for Mustangs have left due to professional differences with the owner. I paid for a new supercharger belt on my 2003 mustang to fix some squeaking; The new belt had the opposite effect, and increased the noise level and loss of power! The owner stated that he would call me back the next day to arrange a time for them to inspect their work, and despite being well past the deadline he gave, has yet to make contact. My father had also had his 1987 Mustang worked on here, and despite a nearly $1k bill and assurance that the car was good to go, other shop's mechanics were easily able to find and point out issues with the car that were easily remedied. I get the impression that these guys have a select few customers who receive exemplary service, and have convinced themselves that is the experience for everybody. If you already know everything that is wrong with your car, and are just looking to hire an insured wrench to do it for you, you could do worse than this place. If you need diagnostic work done or any sort of top-down inspection, i would look somewhere else. A lack of thoroughness while diagnosing and repairing has left a bad taste in my mouth, and i have yet to get the impression that it bothers anybody at the shop that a customer would come in with a problem, be offered and pay for a solution, only to see the problem get worse! IMA is great! I'm a new Porsche owner - 4S cab. I've only had it two weeks and it started making a clicking sound from the steering. I pulled in to IMA expecting to have some meaningful repair/costs. Ivan the owner was very helpful. He took a personal approach to teaching me about my car. Chris the Porsche Tech (19 years) then started with the comprehensive trouble shooting process. Both Chris and Ivan spent the better part of an hour putting my car on the lift, then dropping in on ramps, then Chris puts on a stethoscopes and finally isolated the clicking to a tie rod. Without hesitation, Chris pulls the wheel and disconnects the tie rod. Low and behold, a small rock falls out. Clearly some gravel from all the snow we've had this winter. Chris quickly puts everything back together and no more clicking. The entire team at IMA were very helpful, Ivan adn Chris swell as Allen the GM and Jen Ivan's wife. Thank you IMA. These guys are not very good and they take forever. As an example they were to seal the bottom of my engine and its still leaks. and they have plenty of excuses why. They were supposed to put new bushings in my shifter and installed it incorrectly and never looked at the worn bushing in the knuckle (almost ruined my entire transmission) , luckily the folks at HI-TEC in Merrifield fixed the problem at a reasonable price. My carbs are still a mess which is too long of a story to type. In the end IMA took a great deal of my money and did not provide the quality of work i was expecting. I advise you to look around before you let them work on your car. read more

IMA made our 1982 BMW 325i convertible run like new. Although recently replaced, the convertible top did not work and several other shops said it needed a complete top replacement including the iron structure. IMA fixed the top at a very reasonable price. Plus they did other repairs to make the BMW a true ultimate driving machine. IMA called me with estimates of all the work that needed to be done and kept me informed on their progress. If you have a car that needs work beyond basic repairs, I strongly recommend that you take your car to IMA. read more

I needed the tires balanced on my 06 - 911C4S before driving the car out of town for Thanksgiving. The folks at IMA worked me into the day's schedule at the last minute -- the tires were smooth as silk at "slightly above" the posted highway speed on the trip. I am passionate about my two Porsches & clearly the IMA folks are passionate not only about Porsches but customer service as well. Ivan and team saved my 2005 Porsche 911! Three years back there was an internal engine issue that most shops said would involve replacing the whole engine, which would have been too expensive an option to keep the car. Ivan though that might be the case as well but was able to take the engine completely apart, replace the broken component with a new and improved version and build it back like it was new. It has been running perfect since! Service is great and I feel the charges are fair. Never any pressure for unneeded repair. read more

IMA has been fantastic with helping me purchase my first Porsche. They did a PPI and pointed out a couple of items with the car that I would not have recognized on my own. When it came time to fix one of the apparent issues: a system fault for a front control module, they did further diagnostics to evaluate the issue first.
