Otherwise, it's another coffee place. :) That being said, the building and the interior are worthy of your time to stop in, especially if you are looking for a coffee and, like me, do not want to go to just another Starbucks or other typical coffee place. It's an old bank and they kept that esthetic, from the lobby and teller stations to the bank vault in the back. The prices here are very similar to other coffee places yet you are getting a completely different and elevated experience. :)

Stepping into this restaurant felt like I had traveled back in time, as it's built right inside a beautifully preserved historic bank. You can walk inside the vault and play a game of chess. The teller window is now the area where you place your food order. Our table resembled an old desk where you'd open a savings account and chat about life with the banker. I was looking forward to having their NYC's Best French Toast, so I was pretty disappointed when they told me that they don't offer it on weekends. So I decided to try the Eggs Benedict instead, which was good. My wife ordered the Avocado Toast and she was not happy that the bread was incredibly hard to cut (even after was asked for a sharper knife). Overall, I enjoyed the ambience at Conwell Hall. If I'm back in the city for brunch on a weekday, I might return to try their French Toast.

I had to run to work after an appointment so I ordered for takeout. The person taking my order was friendly. I opted for the Lumberjack and a black cold brew. I received the drink very quickly, with a short wait for the sandwich. While waiting, one member of the staff stocking up supplies on the side started chatting with me and then she offered to check up on my sandwich. She came out with it shortly thereafter. She was very friendly and helpful. The sandwich held up well during my 15-minute commute to the office. It is a really indulgent sandwich, with each bite revealing the sweetness and butteriness of the maple crueller, the saltiness of the thick cut bacon, and the savoriness of the cheese and the eggs as the yolks popped. I sipped the cold brew in between bites to cut the richness. It was a very satisfying meal. The Lumberjack is not something I would recommend you eat every day, but it's good as an occasional treat. In the past I've ordered lunch from Daily Provisions via delivery (the "Chefy" salad and the chicken milanese with arugula salad are my favorites), but I might start adding other breakfast sandwiches to the mix.

I'm not gonna say anything about the wait time because it was really crowded and I'm sure it's not like this on the daily basis. The drinks were good, so that's really all you have to know. The interior was very cute. They decorated it for the event, but even without it it was a small New York style coffee shop. Definitely good vibes. Also, it was very large and had a lot of seating so if you wanted to go and have a little seat and enjoy yourself, you'll have more than enough room plus there was tons of outdoor seating and if the weather is nice, it's beautiful to sit outside.

I was especially excited to try the special matcha panna, but by the time we arrived, almost everything served by the scoop, including the Matcha panna, had sold out. It would really help to have clear signage somewhere before customers join the line showing what's still available. Once you reach the counter, sold-out items were only marked sold out on the regular menu, with stickers over them, so it was hard to know what to expect. I'm used to New York's brisk, no-frills service, but this felt worse than that. The staff came across as genuinely unwelcoming and our overall impression was that the focus was on getting people to order and move along as quickly as possible. The ice cream is exceptional, but the availability information and customer service could be much better. It will always get five stars for an exceptional hard product.

Save your time and spend your money on other scoops Went on a Sunday evening 1.5 hours before they closed to find a very long line around the block. The wait ended up as 45 minutes. About 20 minutes in, a staff member yelled out to the line some type of announcement that the soft serve was not available (and a handful of people left). Evidently many other regular ice cream flavors were also sold out and unavailable by the time I got to see a menu. The signage is poor and ideally before people get in line, it should be clear what is available or not. There are tiny paper print outs for ice cream flavors visible in select places on the wall. When the line was snaking around I had to ask someone if I could see a copy of the menu and take a photo on my phone so I could review. When I got to the cashier I asked for a recommendation based on the few flavors that were left. She had no helpful input about the chocolate or the red flag sweet cream and when I asked what size corresponded to what price (since it was not labeled) she seemed to roll her eyes and responded. I chose the red flag sweet cream ice cream, which was supposed to have strawberry swirl and graham crackers but it didn't seem to have much of that noticeable at all. The positive about the scoops is that two toppings are included - and the panna whipped cream is good. Unfortunately whomever scooped my cup added a disproportionate strawberry that sauce caused my ice cream to be drowned and melt faster. It caused my cup to be unbalanced with the overly sweet sauce topping too. I hope they can improve their operations, availability, and staff training.

By the time we ordered and started drinking our coffees - we were informed the lounge area will be closed at 4pm to prepare for the evening wine bar. Oh right this cafe turns into a wine bar in the evenings! How cool! At 4pm we thankfully grabbed one of the high tables - sharing it with another couple but it was large enough for the 4 of us. The lights dimmed and the atmosphere changed to more intimate. We unfortunately had to leave at 5pm, but I imagined picking up a James Baldwin book, ordering some white wine and enjoying both.... The menu is fairly on the basic side - mainly drinks and pastries and there is some sandwiches. We decided to get the hot chocolate with whip cream (the whip cream is very needed).
