My experience at Illuminate each time with my hair stylist, Chelsey... perfection! She is a treasure, and has so much knowledge of how to best care for your hair! I love the decor in this hair studio too. It is in the heart of Old Town Clovis, and it honestly gives the feel like you are parking in a neighborhood and being graciously welcomed into someone's lovely home! I trust Chelsey 100% to care for my hair and continually help it to evolve. Starting originally with very dark naturally & box dyed hair, & mismatched lengths from older hairstyles, I told Chelsey my vision of what I'd love- soo happy to share that after seeing her for awhile, I now have flowy, light brown/blond hair with much brighter money piece strands framing my face! On different appointments, I enjoy services from her including root touch-ups, toner, deep conditioning, blonding, haircuts, and styles. Seriously, I feel so amazing after I leave her chair each time! As far as Illuniminate as a whole....getting back to the decor- simple, clean, chic, and so comfortable! There is a very cute sitting area, but honestly I don't hang out in there because I never wait for her, she is professional, punctual, explains processes, and works with you to truly give you the style experience that you want. Jamie has been doing my hair for years. She has always been professional and courteous. My hair is very temperamental and my blonde is hard to process. I HIGHLY recommend her for blonde HOWEVER - blonde is a delicate process and can take many appointments to perfect it. SHE WILL (as any hairdresser should) explain that process to you. Your hair does not change from dark to light in one sitting and not feel a little damaged - common sense people. Katherine also does my spray tanning at this salon and she is always professional and has done any amazing job getting my skin to look tan and natural with out any weird orange glow! Chelsea at Illuminate in Clovis is a sweet kind hair stylist that listens to her clients in getting exactly the look they want! She is an expert on blonde hair color and highlights and understands the importance of using the best products to keep her client's hair healthy! The location is great, nearby and environment is very comfortable. The interior is fresh and stylish. I just happen to be there earlier then scheduled and just enjoyed the scenery in the back. It's difficult finding a stylist who can do pin up updos! Stephanie was able to take me in in such short notice (2 days prior). Her rates are reasonable like everywhere else. She's on time and doesn't rush. She'll redo if needed. She is such a sweet person and easy to get along with. Two days after, I also got a haircut and I love it! Thank you Stephanie! Meh... saw Jaime for a haircut. Cut wasn't really much of anything. Bangs were snipped straight across, not even blended with the rest of my hair. They weren't even sectioned off properly from when I have been cutting them improperly on my own. She didn't style my hair or anything. May as well have gone to Supercuts. I get my hair trimmed every 6-8 weeks here by Jill. She is amazing at hair and after I began going to her for my trims, I will not go to anyone else! A few months ago, I decided to get rid of my "virgin hair" and add some color in my life! I showed Jill a variety of pictures I liked on Pinterest, Google, etc., that I would want to do to my hair. I explained to her my wants and the things that I knew I didn't want. As someone who has never done anything to their hair, this was super scary for me! However, Jill transformed my hair! I love the color that she added and wish I would have done it sooner. Just last week, I let her give me layers and now that I am adjusted to my new hair style, I absolutely love the volume and wave it has given my hair. I was dissatisfied with the service and my hair was not done as discussed. I expressed my concerns afterward and the feedback was not well received. I got a color/cut/style from Tamara Gandy earlier this month and all I can say is WOW! I have been using my previous stylist for years and just became fed up with scheduling an appointment time and once there, I had to wait for him almost an hour in a half! Like my time isn't worth anything and his is? NOT! So I was talking with my girlfriend who absolutely raved about how experienced and professional Tamara is. She became a client of Tamara's just by walking in one day and the compliments she got from her husband and co-workers were incredible. I called Tamara and booked an appointment. I arrived at 11 am as scheduled and guess what...she took me right in ON TIME! I brought in a magazine of a really cute style that I have always wanted but the color was very intricate with various shades and I was VERY apprehensive of having a new stylist attempt such a feat. Tamara studied the picture and made a few suggestions for me to consider, one of which was "Proportion" with regards to my facial structure and "Cohesion" with my skin tone & eye color. Tamara spent almost 30 minutes getting to know me and what I liked as well as asking me questions of my daily hair regimen. She did a thorough assessment of ME & the new look I wanted. Anyway, Tamara ROCKED it BETTER than the magazine! She is an absolute ROCK STAR and KNOWS HER BUSINESS VERY WELL! I was very very impressed with the color too because she NAILED IT! I've been going to this salon for a couple of years now and I love it. Illuminate Salon is located in Old Town Clovis in a cute house thats been completely converted into a retro chic salon. The atmosphere is relaxing and everyone is friendly. There is a sitting area that overlooks the salon, and a private room for waxing. When I first called to book a hair appointment I left a message and received a text back from one of their hair stylists, who I booked an appointment with. Ever since then i've been able to make appointments by text with my hair stylist which is so convenient! I've been seeing Alyx for my hair and she is very sweet and attentive. She is very knowledgeable and knows all the latest hair trends. I'm not sure if the other stylist have this, but i've been able to pay with my card every time with the card reader, which is really convenient when you don't have cash on hand for a tip. read more

Tamara Gandy is an amazing hairstylist. I was thinking about getting bangs for the first time and I was so terrified. Based on the previous reviews of this salon, I called to schedule with the owner, Kayla. She informed me that she wasn't able to take new clients but she asked me what I was looking for so she could set me up with someone that would best meet my needs. Add a point. The next day, I received a call from Tamara. She was so nice and was able to set up an appointment within a couple days. Add another point. When I arrived for my appointment, I walked into the cutest house-turned-business establishment. The decor is absolutely amazing and very welcoming. Add another point. I was pleasantly greeted by Tamara and we immediately got started. I showed her the picture of what I was thinking about getting and asked her if she thought I had the face and hair type to pull it off. She assured me that it would look great and I reluctantly trusted her. It only took about an hour for her to cut my hair and style it. Add yet another point. Along the way, she showed me how to blow out my bangs and care for them, and how to get more volume around the crown of my head. Add 10 bonus points. When she was finished, I was blown away. Not only did she cut my bangs perfectly after I had only shown her the picture on my phone for a few seconds but she also gave me some layers and trimmed up the rest of my hair beautifully!
