I have hired Illinois Wall Doctors twice. First, to hang and tape drywall in my basement. Second, to repair the ceiling in my kitchen that had been damaged by a plumbing leak. In both instances, Ken (the owner/President) was very prompt in responding to my call and providing a quote. Sad as it is to say, in my experience, this is a rarity when hiring contractors--very few returned my calls and some didn't even provide quotes after meeting with me. Ken's company was far ahead of his peers in customer communication. Most importantly, Ken's drywall guys arrived promptly at their scheduled time, completed the work efficiently, and did an excellent job. I cannot tell that they patched my ceiling. Ken's rates for my two drywall jobs were very reasonable. His installation and taping guys were very friendly and helpful. Ken and his crew did an excellent job repainting the full exterior of my home. The house itself is aluminum sided and had never, in nearly 40 years, been painted. When they finished, it looked like new. There was never an issue regarding the quality of his work, his crew, clean up and materials. Everything was top notch. His pricing was more than competitive and worth every penny. I also had Ken repair and paint some interior walls that had begun to settle in two corners. It was NOT an easy fix but, today, the room looks great. I still have some basement work which I had hoped I could have him get to over the winter. Unfortunately, the three feet of snow in the back yard will force me to wait until spring but he will be getting a call from me soon. The original joint compound for our home's vaulted ceiling was cracked, looked awful, and was progressively getting worse. We avoided the dealing with the problem because we knew a patch job with joint compound would just crack again. Eventually, we couldn't ignore the problem any longer, and we called Ken who recommended an alternative to traditional joint compound and gave us a prompt estimate. His crew banged out the job and the ceiling looks great. His crew, Brandon and Estoban, were awesome to have in our home! Very polite made sure I was happy with all. I wanted to only do my walls and not do the ceilings but after walls were painted I did not like the original color on ceilings...they stopped everything ran out to get ceiling paint and even though I put them behind an extra day they were extremely nice and just wanted me to be happy! We had some water damage in our home and interviewed several people for the job to repair the drywall damage. Ken passed the all the tests and won the work. Awesome job to repair the damage so I asked about a basement ceiling that was done terribly by the original home owners. His guy fixed my ceiling and you could never tell what a terrible job was originally done by the homeowners. His drywall guy is like an artist. Unbelievable. I hired Ken and team to fix a crown molding job I tried to do myself. I thought it would be easy after talking to the guys at one of the big home improvement stores, I could not have been more wrong. We had a water leak in our master bathroom which caused a drywall problem in our formal dining room below. Ken's crew was able to repair a 4 x 4 foot area of drywall - fully taped / sanded and ready for primer in about 90 minutes and at a reasonable price. Their arrived on the time/date promised, were quiet, and cleaned up well. A day later I re-painted the ceiling and it looks like the leak never happened. We installed recessed lighting, with dimmer switches, in our front room and down stairs family room. The team of 3 arrived on-time and ready to work. They covered furniture to keep the dust/dirt to a minimal. I also had a bedroom with no lightning, only by lamp. They installed a ceiling fan with ease. No patchwork needed.
