They ended up charging nearly $700 and the invoice had no amounts listed for each task which is deceiving. I fell for those glowing albeit suspicious 5 star reviews that overshadow the negative ones. Make sure they tell you the prices up front. Had I known all the other charges they added after they got here, I would have never booked them. I love supporting local businesses, but not ones that knowingly take advantage of people by not being upfront with costs so we can make an informed decision. No mention of any other fees when I made the appointment. I called several other locksmiths after to check and sent pictures and was not quoted more than $200 to $250 all in for what they charged nearly $700 for. They took advantage. I now notice they arent BBB accredited and I understand why bc that requires a company to "operate honestly and with integrity" along with 8 other standards and when you bait and switch people that wouldn't be possible.

I didn't even know if I had money in my wallet before I started dialing . They answered immediately. I know he heard me really start panicking then, and he asked if that was okay. I told him what was happening & that the man had just left the house and I didn't know when he'd be back. The gentleman from A-1 said, "I'll be right there. " and he was. He was in and out in less than 15 minutes and not only that, but the entire time he's frantically working as fast as possible, he was also consoling me. I now have new locks, what I'm hoping will be the start of a new life and for the first time in more than a year, I think I might actually be able to sleep tonight. He went out of his way to help me, he supported and reassured me. He did more for me today than the police ever have. From the bottom of my heart, thank you A-1!

None of his roommates were home, awake, or answering their phones, so I was starting to panic a little. From the start, the staff were incredibly patient and kind. They gave me a reasonable quote right away and said they could have a technician there within an hour. The technician called me as soon as he was on his way, and his ETA was only 15 minutes! In the meantime, we found out that one of the roommates could come let us in. I called back to cancel, fully expecting to still pay a $89 service fee since the technician was already on his way and almost there. To my surprise, they told me not to worry about it and canceled everything at no charge! The entire experience was so easy, and every interaction was quick, friendly, and professional. Even though I ended up not needing their services, I was genuinely impressed by their kindness and customer service. Truly night and day compared to other locksmiths I've dealt with in the past. I would absolutely recommend them and will definitely be calling them again if I ever need a locksmith!

Before starting, I was quoted what sounded like $25--though I may have missed hearing "two hundred." Knowing local daytime lockout rates typically range from $75 to $210, I expected the final cost to be well under $100 for a straightforward daytime service. I was shocked when charged $225 upon completion. The unlocking process took about 10 minutes, but the technician was extremely rough--so much so that I was genuinely worried the lock cylinder would be damaged. Given the delayed arrival, aggressive technique, and total lack of upfront clarity on price, $225 is completely unreasonable and far above market value. I will never use this service again.

I picked up an older and quite rare car in Chicago and planned to drive it back home to NYC from Highland Park. I collect old cars and I already knew that keys for this car would be a challenge to find. The door locks were not working and I was worried about driving home and/or parking the car outside without being able to lock the car. I called a few local locksmiths who didn't want or know how to fix this. When I called Karl on the phone, he offered advice on how I might be able to fix this myself. It was a holiday weekend and, when my own efforts didn't free the locks, Karl made the time to come out and open up his shop. He stayed late on a cold and rainy night to make sure that we got everything sorted before my trip the next day. Karl was friendly, helpful and resourceful. He explained exactly what he thought it was, what he could try, and why he thought it would work. The locks had heavy corrosion and had not been used in a long time. Karl carefully disassembled the lock mechanism, got it to work and was able to get me back on the road safely and securely. Karl was a great find and I appreciate his dedication to go above and beyond to make me feel safe.
