When walking in you can tell the restaurant really hasn't been updated in quite some time. we went around 5pm Took a while for someone to come over to us but finally they did. It was super loud because of the two parties in the rooms. It was so weird the vibe was off the lights were so dim in the main dining area. It was hard to see like they were trying to save money in that room. they had just a few tables that were eating in the main room. We were seated and given menus and specials. We saw a post about this place and thought maybe it would be good. They basically have traditional Italian dishes. Nothing really special. We ordered a salad to share and we ordered a special, halibut and veg with mash with a lemon and white sauce that was super thick. The salad was on the small side. Prob something not to be shared but we did anyway and the main dish WAS very TINY! No more then IF 4 oz of fish, small serving of mash and a pathetic serving of veg. Nothing what we saw on the Instagram post. Everything was large beautiful dishes! While waiting on entrees I was facing the bar. I saw the waiters and bartender partake in opening a nice bottle of red wine, pop the bottle and drink to the last drop. I just couldn't believe my eyes. 4 guys working and drinking. Then after that, the bartender partakes in tasting every liquor he poured sambucka, gin, vodka. Nonstop, surprised the guy was still upright! After seeing these shenanigans we decided to get dessert elsewhere. We got the check and was shocked to see that the small fish dish was a whopping 55 dollars each. I just went tonight. Staff was nice and friendly. Food was excellent - massive portions. Got the calamari, Pollo tre funghi, and the pollo scarpariello. Excellent! Pistachio cheesecake was very good but it was more of like a three layered cake. Still ate the whole thing. read more

Came here on Christmas for a nice dinner and was presented with a limited menu, which is understandable since it is a major holiday. Atmosphere was okay, with the lights being on the dimmer side as many other diners have pointed out. The lights also occasionally flickers, suggesting some wiring issue is going on. The service was decent at the beginning, where Kenny was friendly and responsive. However, when we pointed out a minor critique with one of the dish, he didn't acknowledge it and simply walked away, which was disappointing for a fine dining experience. The chicken fungi and lobster bisque was our favorite, so definitely get those. The steak was dry and the sea bass tasted weird in regards to its flavor profile, so stay away from those. Went here on a Friday night with a few friends. The ambiance of the restaurant is so cozy and the service was impeccable. The food was too die for. I got the grilled salmon and it was so fresh. Y No lunch specials, just an all day menu which is $29 for an appetizer and entree. The waiter was very nice, but seemed afraid of the manager who kept turning the lights off. It was very dark in there, hard to see anything. The mussels were good, but the other appetizer was supposed to be eggplant stuffed with cheese, but it was greasy mushrooms with honey. I didn't see any eggplant unless it was mashed up. The pasta was average, but not worth the price. All the pastas on the regular menu were $25 and up, not worth it. Did a Google search for Italian restaurants in Staten Island and Il Sogno came up as one of the top 10. I can actually say we Finally found A very nice Italian restaurant with great food AND service in Staten Island! The ambience, the decor, the Italian music, all added to the wonderful dining experience. The service was on point. We were not rushed, there was a small pause between courses, which is one of the things that I liked about this restaurant . There is nothing worse than just finishing the last bite of your appetizer and boom out comes your dinner. Another thing about the excellent service is that they do not clear any dishes off the table until everyone at your table has finished eating. Very classy! As I have learned from my father, who was maître d' at a very upscale restaurant in Manhattan for over 40 years, it is a BIG no no to clear dishes while people are still eating at your table. It makes it very uncomfortable for the last person that is still eating. Now let's get to the food. We started with fried calamari. Crispy fresh and delicious. For dinner, I had the Pappardelle Burrata . Delicious tomato sauce and the Pappardelle were cooked to perfection, Al dente . After dinner, we had cappuccino and shared a piece of Italian cheesecake. I just left this place and I will never go back. The food was okay, people in there were loud and cursing and the service was absolutely awful! The server John D. took our drink order and brings the wrong drink. Then tells us we need to order everything at once or else our entrees will take a long time to come out. So we ordered everything at once and our two pasta entrees took 40 minutes. After he took our order, he did not come back to our table NOT ONE TIME! We had to ask the bus boy for everything. I sat with an empty drink the entire dinner, no one asked if our meals were good, if we needed anything, nothing. The burrata was dry, the penne vodka was bland. We even had to ask the busboy to wrap our food and bring our check. After waiting another 15 minutes for the check, the server drops it at our table and doesn't say a word, he picks up the check and doesn't say a word, and then bring it back to sign and dropped it on the table and STILL didn't say a word. It was the WORST service I've ever had. And then I called the restaurant on my way home because we were so annoyed and explained to the manager (also John) what had happened and all he said was "ok I'll tell him". My family and I went there for a family members birthday. My immediate reaction upon walking in was how dark it was in there. It was honestly annoying. I like dim lighting, but it was really too much. Staff was not friendly. Always felt like a bother. The service was slow-- we asked for things multiple times. Our waiter's hands smelled heavily of cigarette smoke; we noticed it every time he handed us something. That was a turn off for sure. The food portions were large, plenty to take home. But I wasn't blown away by it. Same with the dessert. It was just ok in my opinion. I would try other places before going back. read more

The first time, I really enjoyed the food and despite there being a large leak in the ceiling directly next to our table without much care from staff, I decided to try it one more time. The food is decent, but again, there has to be more of a wow factor when there are so many other options locally serving similar dishes. Great restaurant! Staff is extremely friendly and attentive and the food is overall great. I have been here twice and both times have been a pleasure. Their menu is big with many options, I got the chicken with cherry peppers breadcrumbs one night and the lamb chops another. I also recommend the calamari, the sauce on it is amazing. I made reservations for me and my two girlfriends for Friday night March 8, 2024. When they called I asked them if they had a DJ. They said yes. We got there for 7 o'clock on Friday night. There was absolutely nobody there It actually looked like a funeral, we should've left to another restaurant but we didn't. We decide to stay in hopes that people would start coming in. There was one large table that came in maybe about 12 to 15 people maybe two or three other tables scattered. The waiter or part owner I'm not sure what he was, very unfriendly no personality whatsoever never cracked a smile. We asked for a couple of different things on the menu that they did not have. We asked for a couple of cocktails that they couldn't make. My issue was that the price is super high they have no customers and With those personalities the place will fall. I'm surprised it hasn't fallen yet. I will never go there on a Friday night again I probably will never go there again. There's so many other restaurants on Staten Island or New Jersey that have atmosphere of vibe. This was sadly wasted, almost $300 in food, we made our own fun but there was absolutely no vibe in the place whatsoever so I give it one star read more

This is a favorite for for one of my friends. She is a sucker for a Prix-Fix menu which they offer. She called last minute to meet her there on a Wednesday night. By the time o arrived they had already started the 4 course dinner. So I just ordered the Bolognese since everything else had olives (my most hated food). My friend liked her lentil soup and the other app was the zucchini blossom and bbq Meatball ??? Meatball was gross and the blossom was good but soggy since it's drenched in sauce. Our reed was so stale you break a tooth. Had to ask repeatedly for butter, silverware, a beverage. I rated the pasta duo of pene vodka and angel hair with garlicky tomato sauce those were cold but served almost cold. As for the entrees my Bolognese was gross. I love Bolognese this was worse then a jar sauce with hamburger. O it was terrible. My friends both had the chicken chicken/shrimp lemon sauce. Ice cold I mean ice my friend even asked them to nuke it. For dessert it came with Tortoni. Apparently Tortoni is ice cream in a paper condiment cup you get at most fast food places. This restaurant tries to bill itself as an upscale place. The atmosphere is really nice. My wife and I went there this weekend 11/29/19 sat down at 6 pm to what we thought would be a romantic night out being we spent a few dollars on a babysitter . The appetizer was an artichoke . Tasted ok however while eating felt something In my mouth which turned out to be the sticker from the artichoke . Now I cook at home and know this means the kitchen staff is extremely inattentive to the preparations the food. I brought it up to the three well dressed managers and they basically blew it off . She found it to be flavorful and considered it Very Good. I ordered the Veal Parmigiana with Pasta. It was very thin slices of breaded dry Veal that were difficult to slice with a knife and not at all tender to chew. Sauce was light and flavorful, but did not make up for the poor condition and preparation of the Veal. Disappointed to say the least. Came with Linguine which was Good. It all started off great and I have to say the food was good but the service was HORRENDOUS and if you didn't hear me let me say it again horrendous. In between courses we waited and waited. They left us waiting after dinner for an eternity and then they brought out the b day cake for my mom. No one had even ordered coffee or drinks. When coffee finally arrived there was a weird disparity between the size of the cordials and when we questioned it both the waiter and manger were very rude. Since the restaurant turned off the feature to review on Grubhub I have to place a review here. The first time I ordered they cancelled my order after it was submitted 30 minutes prior. I decided on another to give them another chance. I was notified by Grubhub that the original delivery estimate was going to be an hour longer. I decided to make a short trip to a local store when I see the delivery guy come earlier than expected. The food was just ok. For the prices they charge it should be outstanding.
