We were having a blast in Old Town and heard this spot is a must to check out for Italian Food. We stopped in relatively late -- close to 9pm on a Tuesday and were seated immediately. The nice gentleman who took our order recommended some dishes, and we chose to go with some of his top sellers. Being an American, I'm convinced we were brainwashed on how Italian food is 'suppose' to taste like and although this restaurant is in Germany -- the pasta was so addicting. I love al dente pasta but it hits different when the pasta isn't from a box. The mixed salad with crispy salmon was incredible -- simple but fulfilling and packed with so much flavor from the seasoning. The pizza was a win too. The dining room is cozy yet romantic -- spacious yet intimate from the dim lighting and intentional mood setting. This was a great pick for Italian food while in Germany. So delicious! There were four of us, but my spaghetti and prawns were so good! My daughters got the margarita pizza and the spaghetti carbonara and husband got the meat with pasta. Even the mango juice and stilled water were yummy. Great service and ambiance! I'd stop here if you visit Munich! read more

Second visit to this authentic Italian restaurant. The decor is basic but the food is right on ! Pizza and pasta dishes are tested and approved. It is in a small alley but right off Neuhauser Str and a min from Karlstor. Not even a small detour for a trip to italy ! read more

Nestled just far enough away from the busy walkway of people, IL SOGNO is located down a narrow walkway. We ordered 3 items and all were great tasting. The best one we ordered though was the SPAGHETTI CARBONARA!!! Very rich sauce and the pasta is cooked to perfection. At a close 2nd place is their SPAGHETTI BOLOGNESE. Traditional but very rich in flavor. Our 3rd winning dish was the TAGLIOLINI with lemon butter sauce with Sea Bass filet. Sauce was a lil extra lemon in flavor and the filet was good too. Was craving italian and found this place to have good reviews online. Was easy to find as it's located right besides the main tourist attraction. To no fault of their own, there is a large amount of construction happening near the restaurant but this didn't effect the dining. Service was a bit scattered, it seemed that the servers kept leaving the restaurant to go outside a lot and I'm not certain why. In addition, We asked for two soups and got one. We opted to share and didn't say anything and didn't get charged for the other. Honestly I think it was a communication issue. My husband asked for red wine and got white, but again I think it was a communication issue. The restaurant was very quiet when we arrived with just a few guests. We were seated quickly and met by the server. I was looking forward to a cocktail but their service was very limited. I started with the potato soup and my wife had the caprese salad. Both of these dishes were good. Then I had the lasagna and my wife had a pasta dish. Again, both were good. Bread was also served with out meal. Our server was very quiet and fairly attentive. The owner did come back to check on us. Overall a good but not great experience. read more

The proprietor took full charge of our dining. My wife was hoping for pasta puttanesca which was not on the menu. He said no problem. His English was perfect and took our order for a simple tossed green salad which, again, was not on the menu. We were looking for something a little different from the traditional German cuisine on our third night here, and had heard the pizza was popular. We found Il Sogno based on Yelp reviews and weren't disappointed. My wife and I each had a pizza and they were both delicious. The wine was great and the service was incredible. We finished with an amazing slice of tiramisu and a couple tastes of limoncello. Overall, an amazing experience. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for great Italian food. My husband and I were looking forward to having dinner here after reading the reviews. A very short walk from our hotel and something other than the awesome German cuisine we had while in Munich. When we arrived there were several empty tables and we asked for a window seat but were told by a lady server that they would only except euros or if credit card it had to be be $100.00 or more to use credit cards. We probably had enough euros but by then my husband was so upset with the tone of the lady's voice and attitude he said he would never eat there. Pasta Bolognese wasn't very good. But the Gnocchi, the Black Fettuccine and pizza di Mare were all very good. The Gnocchi was off the charts. What forced my 5 star hand was the desserts! The Pannacotta is the new bar that others must meet! The Tiramisu was exceptional as well. read more
