As a solo diner I wish I'd known how big the portion would be. The pie was a foot across! The wait staff is uniformed, serves drinks with a flourish, and speaks English quite well.

His manner was dismissive, inflexible, and consistently unpleasant, setting the tone for what would become an unnecessarily arduous meal. When we attempted to make a modest adjustment to our order, our request was met with remarkable rigidity. One might have accepted such inflexibility as the immutable law of the kitchen--had the very dish subsequently delivered to our table not been incorrect. Thus, flexibility was apparently impossible when requested by the guest, yet error remained entirely achievable by the establishment. And then came the waiting. The restaurant was by no means bustling with patrons. No great multitude filled the tables; no banquet of royal proportions appeared to be underway. Yet our food journeyed from kitchen to table with all the urgency of a medieval pilgrimage. Minutes stretched into what felt like seasons. Empires might have risen and fallen in the interval. But the crowning absurdity of the evening concerned a humble bottle of water. We ordered another water. It never arrived. Having already endured the considerable passage of time required for our meal, we eventually asked that the missing water simply be removed from the bill. We no longer wanted it. This, however, appeared to present an insurmountable philosophical dilemma. Our waiter insisted upon bringing it nonetheless. We paid. And only then--after the bill had been settled, the meal concluded, and any conceivable need for the water had evaporated--did the long-awaited vessel finally make its triumphant appearance. Behold: the water had come. Alas, it had arrived not merely late, but in another age entirely. Mistakes happen. Food can take longer than expected. An order can be misunderstood. None of these things alone would compel me to leave such a review. What made this experience so unpleasant was the attitude accompanying every interaction. A restaurant need not be perfect, but courtesy should not be considered an optional accompaniment. We entered seeking dinner. We departed having endured a minor Shakespearean tragedy--complete with conflict, suspense, errors, interminable waiting, and, in the final act, the dramatic arrival of a bottle of water no one wanted anymore. Would I return? Nay.

The pizza was especially good, and the ingredients tasted fresh. We also tried several other dishes and everyone enjoyed their meal. The wine was okay, but the espresso martini was very good and a great way to finish the evening. Overall, great food and friendly staff, just be prepared for a slower dining experience. The chef is Italien and the waitress is Romanian, both are very sweet and helpful. My kids had some various pizza's, all tasty and with really good dough. The menu is varied and on Saturday they have an all day breakfast menu, with a number of choices. They also do a prosecco breakfast special for two on Saturdays. Alongside this, they have an a la carte menu for lunch, with items like pasta, risotto, steak and fish. One of the specialities in this place is the "flamine", a Flamkuchen done Italian style, with a tomato sauce base (although the menu does not mention tomatoes) and, a variety of toppings including truffle. I ordered a linguine with prawns and it came with a light tomato sauce. The pasta was cooked really well and the whole dish tasted amazing. We also ordered a potato and truffle flamine and, when the dish arrived we saw the tomato sauce base. We ended up sending it back as tomatoes are a no go. They were apologetic and made us a whole new one immediately. That alone is worth 5 stars in my opinion. Coffee was good and we did not try dessert. It was pretty full when we got there around 2pm. All the servers speak English and German. Here's what you get to choose between: Two soups Three salads (the "Insalata di rucola" is my favorite!) Four pastas (and one gnocchi dish) Three pizzas One (delicious) hamburger One (acceptable) club sandwich Two fish entrees One chicken entree One lamb entree Three beef entrees So if, for example, you are vegetarian, you can order the Caesar salad one time, the mushroom pizza the next, then the gnocchi, and pick either of the soups, and then end your week with the ravioli. It's just enough variety to get you through a week. Or if you eat fish, then you can put salmon on your Caesar salad, get the spaghetti with shrimp on your second day, then the pasta with salmon (which is good), the codfish, and finally the salmon entree. It's all carefully balanced to provide just the right amount of options for a typical business traveler on a one-week stay. Pizzas, pastas, and dinner salads all cost around $15 (tip already included, but they'll let you pay more if you want). The entrees run closer to $25. Important note about pizzas: "Peperoni" in Germany is a long, skinny, pale green vegetable. The "peperoni pizza" looks and tastes nothing like what Americans expect. I liked the "Pizza prosciutto di Parma" much better than the peppers-and-sausage one or the mushrooms-and-smoked-cheese one. Their pizzas are big enough that we liked ordering one pizza and one salad, and splitting them. If pizza is on your mind because you're traveling with kids in a certain phase, then the pizzas on the menu might not be a success. However, they will serve plain pasta with no sauce upon request, the french fries are good, and the ice cream is cheap compared to what you would pay in an American restaurant (about $2 per small scoop).

The pizza was just ok... but it could have also been because we were already negative about the restaurant since we had to ask for them to take our drink orders SEVERAL times. They said they had new employees that are still in training, but I think they could have been a little nicer when stating that they don't know instead of just walking away. It is a cool spot with both indoor and outdoor seating... too bad the service is bad. We should have brought our own alcohol. Would I go back? Likely not.
