I stopped in for a no-reservations, weekday lunch. There was no outside seating due to noisy street construction, but the interior main dining room was pleasantly quiet, with subdued decor. With an almost empty restaurant, my server was quick, very attentive and professional. I enjoyed the presentation and tastes of the artichoke tortellini and the sous-vide salmon. Two earlier courses, presented on top of paper doilies, reminded me of the 1960s. Perhaps the chef has leftover doilies from that era. I shall have to return. 2025 04 02. M1.

The chef/owner comes out and introduce himself and makes you feel like your part of the family! I enjoy the staff, they very very professional and know their wine selection very well. I love how they know which wine would be good with each course! If you are visiting Munich please please try this restaurant is absolutely phenomenal!

I had pasta with prawns and seaweed (that's what the menu said) and it was delicious! I would have given the place four stars if it wasn't for the below average service. The waitress didn't really show any interest answering my questions and it was quite hard getting her attention. The prices for the food are not cheap but definitely worth it. The drinks however are certainly overpriced. Specifically the wines and water are way too expensive. The beers are priced in line with the city average ( I guess it's very easy to compare prices on beer in Munich and that's what keeps them low). Overall a nice place that could be great if they at least could improve the service a little.

It's an interesting basement bar. You will probably find this place empty during the summer months…read morebut a nice place to hang out and have drinks or dinner etc during other times. It's a themed bar with multiple rooms and each room is decked out differently. I believe this place is modeled after the set of Three Penny opera but not entirely sure. The interior is interesting and varied and some people might find it a bit weird. I did not eat here so don't have an opinion on the food. The drinks list is quite extensive and they have self made tequila as well. Not a bad place to go for a drink.

I'll keep this brief as I don't normally write reviews. I…read morewas intrigued by this place as I have a penchant for dive-bars and speakeasy type joints. There's a bit of a musty smell going down the stairs, but fair enough - it's an old cellar bar. There was a fruit fly in the beer, but fair-enough that could happen anywhere. But the burger I ordered...whatever the hell it was it was not a burger. If you can see the photo associated with this review (take a good, close-up look if you can stomach it), the meat in the bun was truly weird...a kind of thin shell surrounding some brown gelatinous meat. It was like the inside was completely uncooked, but not red or pink as uncooked ground beef should be. And completely cold. The best I could tell was that it was maybe old, marinated beef (or just old), briefly deep-fried. The waiter (who I think was a member of the family ownership) was mildly apologetic. First he said that it was medium-rare. "Nein, es ist roh! Und braun!" ,I replied. I didn't have the German skills to explain that it is a health risk to serve burgers "medium-rare" in the way that steak is..but that would have been only scratching the surface of everything that was truly wrong with this weird and dangerous monstrosity. Then he offered a free espresso to compensate...but not the price of the burger as I'd eaten the fries. That was a mistake for him, an expense to me, but a great service to you and mankind, as I am now warning you with this tale of woe. Hopefully you can see the photo of the burger...because it is kind of scary. I know Driegroschenkeller is supposed to be themed on 30s austerity and hard times, but it's meant to be just pretend, not real privation, disease and prison-grade food.
