I understand that the restaurant has expanded and that they are doing well, however, we definitely felt the growing pains and it seems they may be having difficulty handling the increased capacity. We had an 8pm dinner reservation, about 30 people were on the sidewalk waiting to be seated. Once we were seated, the waiters didn't come over for 20 minutes. We ordered everything right away and didn't get our food until 9:45. The rigatoni alla vodka was great. The other members of my party didn't enjoy their meals. The service and the atmosphere were awful. Condensation from a dirty AC vent in the ceiling was dripping into my mothers food the entire meal, starting with apps. The waitress suggested she place a napkin over her plate while she was not actively eating. They never offered to replace her meal or deduct it from the bill, instead, they gave us a small serving in a to-go container. The experience was very disheartening and my mom was too nice to make a big deal about it. However, we did mention it to the staff, including the manager, more than once. We had requested a nice table for a family reunion/engagement celebration. The table for 6 was so tight, it was uncomfortable for our group, as well as the group behind us. This restaurant was just wonderful before the expansion. A group of 5 went in for dinner and was seated outside as was our reservation. We ordered appetizers and were informed by our waitress that our ordered entrees would be served with at least an hour wait. Wow!! Tables that came in after us, which were next to us, received their appetizers before us and sure enough our entree wait was just over an hour. The expansion has not been good. read more

Wonderful dinner for the 7 of us at Il Posto. We had the octopus, grilled calamari, and mussels as shared appetizers. All were very good. For entrees, we enjoyed the pasta special (shrimp crab homemade pasta sacchetti and pesto sauce), the veal with shrimp, seafood risotto, rigatoni in Rosa sauce and chicken parm. Every entree came out hot and all were nice size portions. The food was delicious and the service was wonderful. We will be back. read more

Very nice Italian restaurant with a nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Being from Wilmington, NC I was not aware that the town literally shit down this early so we visited Il Posto essentially by default. Glad things worked out this way. Our dinners were great, seafood pasta special and chicken parma both excellent. The chicken dish was so large that we both had leftovers for lunch. TERRIBLE The service wasn't bad it truly was the worst.Our apps came out 20 min after we were seated. The entrees came out one hour after the apps and the veal chop was reheated with a huge piece of gristle in the first slice and was cold with a congealed sauce on it so I sent it back. 15 min later another waitress came to tell me they could make another I told them I didn't need it. First time dining at IL Posto. From the moment we checked in there was more than an attitude -- and not a good one. Food was good but we truly have to say that's service was rough -- bordering on non-existent. The front desk acted like we were an imposition and trying to flag down a server was an exercise in futility. There is virtually zero attention to detail and the dining experience is severely lacking. It's a shame because the buratta appetizer was excellent - and calamari tasty. Veal chop was bigger than your head: ravioli was a stand out; and fish was well prepared . If they simply tighten up service and lose the attitudes this place could be a favorite. We start off the night with no menu, but understandably in Covid times, a handheld menu is never a guarantee. We sat on the patio and loved it! Zoe was a great server--but wait for it--cue server #2 (interesting, but oddly I felt safe) Tim! They were great. Next came this bread with a 3-part, phenomenal pesto cream dip, olive oil, and butter (probably home-churned). As if my boyfriend and I couldn't be more in awe of this pesto, out comes our food approximately 4 minutes later. My wife and I had a delightful dinner here on a Wednesday night. It wasn't crowded as you would expect mid-week in the off season. Our server Samantha did a great job explaining the special items on the menu and was very attentive throughout the meal. The food when it arrived was superb. We ordered the calamari to start. We frequently order calamari as an appetizer at restaurants and what arrives runs the gamut from excellent to barely edible. Il Posto's calamari was a 10 out of 10. The entrees were cooked to perfection. We even managed to save room to share a desert. The crème brûlée had just the right amount of crispness to the sugary topping on the custard. According to Samantha they will be Wed to Saturday in the off-season. It's worth a try. We will be back. read more

Came here with my family and it was such an underwhelming experience. The food was average at best (laced in garlic) and service was awful (slow, no water refills, not attentive, and inexperienced staff). My sons pasta came with a long hair in it and we saw the waitress pick up a knife from the floor and put it back with the clean utensils to mention a few things. Went to an early seating at 6pm to II Posto to celebrate my wife's birthday. Started out wonderfully being seated at a table for two in the back area of the former Brian's Waffle House. Everything was going well until they proceeded to seat a table of our right next to us who felt we needed to hear about their lavish boating experiences. Next they place two groups of six directly behind us just as our meal was served. We proceeded to eat our meal in an environmental comparable to a sports bar during the playoffs. I turned on my phones decibel app and it averaged 84 decibels throughout the meal - topping out at 94 decibels. Now the meal was excellent However even my wife felt anxious and could not finish the meal. We immediately paid and left but not before expressing our dissatisfaction to the waiter and hostess since we noticed quieter areas in this large establishment that would have been a better fit for a two seat table. Needless to say we will have to reconsider this as restaurant choice next time. read more

The food was really good. Great seafood and flavorful steak. The reason for four stars is that we noticed a strange racial hierarchy among the wait staff. We noticed all the servers were white and all the staff bussing and refilling waters were Latina. Our server was pretty absent most of the night, which is typically understandable during the pandemic. However we got REALLY great service from the woman bussing our table. It's clear she could be great at doing server work. Why hasn't this woman been promoted to fill the capacity gap among servers? I can't help but wonder if the management prefers to only have white people serving. read more

One of my best dining experiences in recent memory. The atmosphere and service are top notch. The food is generously portioned and delicious. We loved the salads, and the grilled octopus appetizer is done to perfection. The calamari is the most tender I've ever tasted. My smoked salmon ravioli was unique and covered with shrimp and scallops. All my party's other entrees were just as tasty. My Daughter. Son in Law, Granddaughter & I visited for dinner on Friday night. The original feeling was very good, the waitress we had really knew her stuff & told us specials & made recommendations. Appetizers came out quickly & were awesome. But then, things turned sour. We waited for 40 mins between finishing appetizers & getting entrees & not getting any attention from anyone. We even had to wave a bus person down to refill waters. Our waitress never came back to check on the table until showing up just as entrees came out. Food was excellent generally even though my Son in Law was NOT impressed by the veal ribs. But then no waitress again for a long period of time. Finally, she saw the plates were cleared & showed up with the check without asking about dessert & then just scurried away. So I'd rate food highly, service disappointing. Amateur hour. I wish I could rate the food but we never got seated. We waited :30 min for a party of six even though there was a large table open inside and three tables outside. There were no other parties waiting to be seated. We asked several times about the status of our reservation and kept being told they were waiting for a party to leave. Repeatedly. So we finally just left. I did mention to the manager that the night before we were dining at Polpo and a wait person asked the table next to us that there is a :90 minute time limit and they needed to leave. This is the tale of 2 meals. My first meal was fantastic, clearly 4 + stars were deserved. I ordered the Pappardelle Modo Mio, it was fantastic. The pasta is homemade and as fresh as you can get. The meat very tender and delicious. My dining companions both had seafood with pasta and pesto specials which they loved. We loved it so much we went back a few nights later. Night 2 did not go as well for us. I ordered pappardelle Alfredo with chicken. The pasta and the Alfredo were good but the chicken left a lot to be desired. It did not taste fresh and it lacked seasoning. I pushed it out of the way and did not eat it. It could have used more sauce. My husband ordered veal Parmesan which was very good but the red sauce did not appeal to him. Sadly, night 2 brings the rating down. The pesto is absolutely fantastic! The restaurant is very clean, our servers were attentive, knowledgeable and friendly, as was the support staff. I will definitely go back when I'm in the area again because I know they can do better with the chicken. read more
