Afternoon Tea for Three... What a Lovely Surprise! We were greeted by friendly, knowledgeable staff who immediately made us feel welcome. We had preordered the three-tier afternoon tea, which included individual pots of tea chosen by each guest, so there was truly something for everyone. We enjoyed Paris , peppermint, and English Breakfast, all Harney and Sons teas. The three-tier stand was beautifully filled. The first tier featured delicious quiche, asparagus wrapped in prosciutto, cream cheese and cucumber sandwiches, egg salad sandwiches, and spanakopita, with one of each item for every person. The second tier held two buttery, perfectly sweet scones for each guest. The top tier was dedicated to desserts and did not disappoint. We enjoyed Parisian chocolate cake, cheesecake, key lime cake, and chocolate chip cannolis. Everything was fresh, moist, and absolutely delicious. We were able to relax and enjoy each other's company without ever feeling rushed. It was a wonderful experience, and I'm grateful to have such a lovely place for afternoon tea in the neighborhood. read more

We went to this place on Labor Day weekend, it is a little bit off the beaten path from the usual shore towns. It is a very quaint cute restaurant with nice decor and nice ambience. It is a BYOB so remember to pack your wine. The service was a bit slow as there was only two waitresses working the inside. I also think our table was sat at the same time as the other two tables. We definitely gave Grace for that. We had the classic spaghetti and meatballs, very underwhelming dish. The Bucatini with mushroom dish was good, but lacked salt. I had the filet mignon that was sous vide. It is done to a medium temperature and it cannot be cooked any more well according to the waitress. Her description was epic. She said it's basically like a filet mignon that's wrapped in saran wrap and boiled. Clearly the weight staff doesn't understand the art of French cooking. And if that was the description and I didn't know better would've been a hell no. The spinach and artichoke dip we started with was the opposite extreme. It was overly salty and offputting. We didn't even finish it. The salad had a really nice bright dressing, but it could've used a little splash of an acid otherwise it was completely covered in cheese. All in all, it's a nice looking restaurant with good bones, but I think some of the food needs to fine-tuning. Some of it felt dare I say banquet and not Restaurant quality. All of the dishes looked appetizing and appealing, and came to the table quite nice. The temperature wasn't overly hot but the restaurant seemed busier than normal. We opted not to finish the meal off with dessert as we had other plans. The price point is pretty in line with beach resort pricing. The BYO was a nice option. The food was missing some elemental, cooking additives like salt, which is super important the flavoring food. This seems to be a popular spot for local folks. Petunia can't be trusted if you have an allergy. I informed our server that I need to be strictly gluten-free, no cross-contamination, and she brought me a separate gluten-free menu. I ordered the Petunia salad off on that menu -- which was served to me with croutons, which I realized only after a few bites. For someone with Celiac disease, this can be a devastating mistake. The server apologized profusely, but my next-day email to the restaurant has gone unacknowledged. read more

The first A+ is the ambiance. The decor is so welcoming. Second A+ goes to the staff: perfect amount of attentive,informative and friendly. The final A+, more like A++++, is the food. WOW. We had the Caesar salad which was perfectly dressed, the peach and burrata salad (to die for) and the mushroom bucatini and the pork chop. This place is very nice, we got a gift card when we purchased Georges' CMCH BOGO promo. The bread was a bit dry (focaccia only. The round bread was perfect). The parking situations less than perfect. I called Petunia to make a reservation for afternoon tea for our small group of 4. I was never asked for a credit card to "hold" the reservation. I got a text link from OpenTable. When I hit the link, it said the amount was $170.14 ($40 x 4 + tax). I called Petunia and the cashier who answered the phone, I confirmed verbally our party would be there and that seemed to be the last of it. However, I received a phone call from Ashley, the owner, who was EMPHATIC I needed to supply my cc#. She continued to argue with me that other local restaurants now require a cc# to hold the reservation. I've NEVER been charged more than $25 or $50 to hold a reservation. There is NO way I was charging $170 for an afternoon tea at Petunia in CMCH before we even crossed the threshold. Ashley was extremely rude and literally hung up on me when I told her I wasn't ready to provide my cc# but I already wasn't looking forward to the experience. Ashley was so loud my husband overheard her even though I didn't have the phone on speaker. In the end, I called back and canceled our reservation. Not only did I know we wouldn't enjoy our visit but, honestly, Ashley did NOT deserve our $170+ (or more) for an afternoon tea service. read more

We used to go to this restaurant when it was Scola and loved it. This was our first time at Petunia. The place is small but charming. Our server was excellent and friendly. We ordered the facacia bread and asked for it to come out first. That wasn't possible. Everything had to be ordered at once. The bread was dry and not your traditional bread. Homemade pastas, great ambience indoors, generous portions! To my surprise, my favorite dish is the gourget meatballs and spaghetti entree. The owner and the staff are lovely. The indoor seating is quite lovely and intimate. Outdoor ambience looked unimpressive. Bring a flashlight to read the menu. BYOB. We loved this new find so much that we ate here 2x in summer 2023. ohk this spot here *CHEF'S KISS* my oh my was this place delicious. we came to celebrate a birthday so we ordered a few items from the menu and ill so happy we did. appetizers were so good we forgot to even take pictures app: truffle b&b- everything about it was delicious. ricotta meatballs- the homestyle meatballs were perfectly cooked. toasted ravioli- loved the combination of the italian sauce and sundried tomato sauce. all entrees ordered were sooo good. even the mushroom pappardelle was delicious and i'm not a mushroom fan. gnocchi was amazing and the amatriciana was a perfect italian dish. jessica was our server and she was soo nice. we were seated inside, which had a few tables. not overcrowded. you do have to order apps and entrees at once. we were provided 2 ice buckets for our bottles. this place just opened up in 2023, but i must say, if they continue with a menu as good as i tried last night then they should be staying for a very long time. read more

What a fabulous addition to the CoHo Dining Scene! Granted, it's not much of a scene yet, but with places like Petunia, it is up and coming. The decor is wonderful- very chic with raw woods, exposed brick, deep emerald walls, fresh flowers, and tea lights. The staff was so welcoming. The glassware and plates had a vintage/modern feel. The devil is in the details and clearly the details are noticed here. We had the Arancini with leek fondue and wild mushrooms. Fabulous. We were given complementary crab macaroni and cheese and asked to express our honest opinion about it as they are building their menu. How often do you get to rate complimentary food? For dinner, we had the Fettuccine with Shrimp and the Salmon with Rigatoni. The Fettuccine was delicious and the shrimp were perfectly cooked. The Salmon Rigatoni was perfect- salmon, dill, capers, nuts...just excellent. We loved everything about this place. It felt like places we love in Connecticut-intimate, a little eclectic, with perfect service and cuisine you don't see everywhere. I also appreciate the Kara Restaurant Group investing in our town.
