Our waitress Tori was outstanding! She really was friendly and quick! My son took us here since we are visiting and ordered a couple appetizers- fried ravioli and I can't remember the name but they were fried risotto balls filled with cheese and I wish I had just ordered a second round of these. The menu is quite large. We had a different variety of pastas- my daughter got their grilled red snapper and it was amazing!!! My son got a simple clam in white wine sauce. My daughter's BF got a seafood pasta that had clams, mussels, crab and shrimp. So much seafood! All cooked perfectly. I had a simple pasta with marinara that was clearly slow cooked and made with love. The ambiance is delightful. The decor is modern and beautiful. Outside seating is available and they have a great drink / wine list. During the week they also have a great Happy Hour menu. Sit down Italian places in SOMD are boutique. It's my opinion that's the case with this restaurant. Im not sure why you have to put a credit card down to make a reservation, I don't see the demand to support this practice in this locale. This isn't DC or Annapolis. Service: good overall. Well attended from seating through service and departure. Ambiance: good. We went for early dinner under a reservation. Nice tables and decor. Food: decent. My problem was trying to substitute something on my order and that seemed verboten. My recommendation to the owners are substitutes are easy. Don't be so stuck on your menu. Meatballs were good. My partner and I made a reservation through Open Table for last night at 7:00 PM. There were multiple times available on the site so we assumed the restaurant would not be too busy. We appeared on time and the hostess seated us in a booth. I was rather thirsty and asked her to please bring me a glass of water which she did, along with menus. The place was about half full at most. Good thing I had asked for the water as it took almost 20 minutes for our server to come to the table. By that time we knew what we wanted and we ordered drinks, salads and a main course, and asked that our salads be served before the main course. Another 25 minutes went by during which our server never came by our table. We asked another server to please tell our guy to come to our table but he was busy bussing tables on the other side of the restaurant. Finally at 7:55 our server appeared--still without drinks-- to tell us that the restaurant was very busy and he did not know how long it would take to get our drinks or food. We left at 8:00 after having still received nothing. To add insult to injury this morning I receicved a message from Open Table telling me that according to the restaurant we had never showed up and that this would be reflected on my profile. I messaged OT back and I assume they will follow up with the restaurant. Not having been served anything beyond water I cannopt comment on the food. However, the service was truly terrible, the server did not appear to have been well trained and we will not be back. read more

This dining experience was so bad it was almost funny, so the positive is we made some good family memories despite the mediocre food and even worse service. My $12 glass of wine was pure vinegar. When I politely told the manager I would like to switch my wine, she said "no, you ordered it. You can have a new glass of wine, but you'd have to pay for both." Wow. The worst customer service I've ever received (I've eaten in restaurants around the world) and also stupid business sense because that glass of cheap wine couldn't have cost the restaurant more than $1 and they got us annoyed right away. Server was ridiculous all around. Food took a long time and the server randomly said "I'm about to come out with your appetizers" and then didn't bring them for at least ten more minutes! Sauce was overly sweet and tasted like it came out of a jar. Chicken wings were the only thing we liked. My teenage son and husband can't stop laughing about how off the whole experience was. Last night our family of 7 went and celebrated my Cancerversary here . The food was amazing .. a few of us had the specials . The ribeye special and the pork chop special !! Absolutely delicious !! A few had the ever delicious chicken Parm and the kids had lasagna and kids meals We started off with the rice balls and Calamari we ended with their homemade Tiramisu , red velvet cheese cake and the chocolate cake . We were greeted and guided to our table right away. The outdoor setting is spacious and comfortable. The young server was very courteous and explained their specials of the night well. We ordered the special Tuscan Seafood pasta and Catch of the day. The food came quickly. The pasta had plenty of clams, mussels and crab meat on top! I was very pleased that it was nice and hot. We give rave reviews to Il Piccolo Morso. The food is consistently excellent. Our friends likewise rate the food, service, and ambience as excellent. The nightly specials are indeed very special. Seafood is always reliably very good. We have sampled numerous items on the menu without any disappointments. I normally don't order lasagna or spaghetti and meatballs in Italian restaurants. Il Piccolo's versions far exceed the usual pedestrian treatments seen in other establishments. The salads are large and shareable. Particularly great appetizers are the fried calamari and fried ravioli. Plan on sharing appetizers as well. The portions are ample. How better to finish a great Italian meal than with an espresso and tiramisu. The desserts are also top notch. Il Piccolo is our absolute Leonardtown favorite. This place is beautiful from the outside, and also beautiful on the inside with nice decor and lighting. Server was nice and friendly. The food, while presented beautifully, is not that good. We had the burrata appetizer which tasted like it was tossed in a store bought balsamic. It was a good size, but was served with only two pieces of bread which was not good either. Tasted like plain French roll from the grocery store. Not fresh. My eggplant parm didn't have much sauce, and the tomato sauce was very watery without any of that good robust tomato flavor. Hubs got the sausage penne which had a nice layer of bubbly cheese on top but underneath had very little sauce and little meat. Unless there was a deal or special event, we will probably not return for dinner. Nice people and great place, menu was very disappointing. read more

This new addition to the Southern Maryland restaurant scene is very welcome. The interior, the food and the service are above average with just a few burbles you might expect from a new venture. Our party of four with a reservation (not the time we wanted but we took what was offered) arrived on time but the table was not ready. As there is no waiting area we had to return to the car to await a call from the staff. That took about ten minutes and then we could enter. There is seating for about 30 spread between booths, two tops and four tops with a small bar that maybe seats 6-8. The interior is pleasant and bright with some relaxing music piped in. Our booth was comfortable but a little tight for four adults, and there is no where to hang a coat. Our server was friendly, Knowledgeable, pleasant and helpful The linen napkins are a nice touch as is the crystal glassware. A QR code menu is available or they will bring a paper version. The menu is quite small (a play on the name of the restaurant, maybe?) but should have something for every taste. We ordered the arroncini app and the fried calamari and smelts. Both good - the smelt reminded me of bocarones I've had in Spain. Main courses were the shrimp with linguini, a special of scallops with a small steak, lasagna and the seafood stew. We were disappointed that several minutes later the staff informed us there was no stew that night, so a replacement of melanzane was ordered. Everyone was happy with their choice. Prices for entrees ranged from about $16 to $39 for the special. The tiramisu was the hit of the night. Bathrooms were sparkling clean and all covid regs were being followed. The server was kind and it appeared like everyone was working hard. The food, however was a bit disappointing. The Caesar salad was huge and good but the fried cheese ravioli seemed like maybe it was frozen and came from Costco. The sauce didn't taste exceptional, just bland. The real disappointed was the special, blackened red snapper, which was well seasoned but over-cooked and dry. The sauted spinach was also bland and would have benefited from garlic, salt and some EVOO. The best thing was the Italian Old Fashion. And watching several other cocktails being made, I think the bar may be the best part. The staff did ask how the food was and I tried to respectfully tell him the special had not met expectations and he did seem genuinely concerned. I can't give them less than a star if I want to review. They took my reservation for 7 PM and after we waited to eat for two and half hours they did not have a table for us. The rude hostess told us that it would be another 20-30 minutes, there's nothing she could do. She could have saved the table that I reserved and been nicer about the fact that she took my reservation and didn't honor it. I may have waited but she compared not being able to do anything to visiting a doctor. She said there is nothing she can do! It's a good thing she is a hostess and not an oncologist. Upon entering you will notice a very classic atmosphere with jazz from the 1950s playing that is fitting for how comforting the food is. My server, Will, was very attentive and charming. I ordered the house salad and seafood pasta that was absolutely astonishing. The flavor portfolio of the main dish alone was a 10/10 for me hitting every checklist- zesty, fresh and a hint of spice that tied it all together. Really hate to leave such a negative review for a locally owned restaurant, but our experience tonight was just not up to par with other restaurants in our area with the same price range. Our negative experiences we had when they first opened we're still present today, months later. Our server was polite & friendly, but service was extremely slow. At times it took 20 minutes to get a drink, totally unacceptable seeing as the restaurant was half empty. When going over the menu we specifically asked about entrees being available, substitutions, and daily specials before placing our order, seeing as our last visit items were not available. Well nearly 30 minutes after placing our entree orders our server let us know they did not have bucatini available that evening. SERIOUSLY?!? Just when we were expecting our entrees to arrive we are finding out entrees we ordered aren't even available for that night?!?! I suggested maybe we could just share what we had already ordered that was available as to not make the rest of our party wait for their meals, only to have our server let us know that there was a table ahead of us before they would be preparing our meal. There was 6 tables with diners at this time, we were one of them. We quickly made other selections, one being the Gnocchi Sausage Mushroom Ragu. They must have also run out of mushrooms and gnocchi tonight because there was ZERO mushrooms and only 8 gnocchi in the entire dish! For the $24 price tag insulting is an understatement! What I was served looked like a bowl of soup you'd receive at any restaurant with an $8 at most price tag!!! To spend $200 for the 4 of us and receive this type amateur service and food, no thanks! This is by far the best Italian restaurant in Southern Maryland! The food and the service(Trent) were excellent! The marinara sauce is light and very tasty and the pasta was perfect il dente. My wife stated the lasagna was the best she has had, and she always orders lasagna when we are at an Italian restaurant. From the outside, you'd never know that such an excellent restaurant was inside. Silvia, the owner, met us at the door and came by the table three times to make sure everything was going well. We were put in a corner which was fine until we were basically ignored. We had said we wanted to take it slow when we ordered the appetizers. Not forgotten.. I absolutely love the food here. All the food is made in-house and it's delicious. My favorite is the ravioli stuffed with mushrooms. Unfortunately tonight they only had one waitress because the other called in sick and of course they had a couple of large parties who didn't make things easy. As a solo diner on a busy Saturday night, I offered to sit at the bar. The bartenders, James and Luis, were friendly and attentive, and my glass was always full. I ordered the Caprese salad, which was generous and beautifully presented, and the Shrimp Alfredo, which was delicious. Bread was included with the meal. The owner, Silvia, checked on me, which I appreciated. All servers were fully masked and the restaurant was clean and spacious, with a hip vibe. Second visit and both times have been great. The squid ink pasta was so yummy the first time I had to return and get it again. Our server was on point and even asked if we wanted him to wait to put in our entrees so we would have more time to finish our app. As someone who is a slow eater I truly appreciate it because I am ALWAYS still working on the app when my dinner comes. My husband ordered the scallop risotto and the scallops were perfect. Only areas for improvement I can note- I wasn't a fan of the oil served with the bread and I wish the ramekin with marinara for the Frito Misto app was a little bigger.
