While in Milan, I got a recommendation here from a local to try the world renowned....Ossobuco Di Manzo w/ Risotto alla Milanese. Now, the service here, was the best I had in Milan. The server was very encouraging and was very excited to see the enjoyment of Italian food and culture in my eyes. The Ossobuco Di Manzo, was amazing! I recommend everyone to try it when in Milan, they have a great wine selection as well and we even enjoyed their Tiramisu and Grappa as a digestive to finish off our meal. This place was recommended by our hotel concierge and TBH I'm not completely sure why. Very close to our hotel and Duomo so there's that. It does look beautiful on the inside and they have outdoor seating as well. We started our meal off with coffee and I really can't order anything other than a cappuccino when I'm in Italy and they did a great job with that bit of the meal. I was chomping at the bit to eat some minestrone ever since I found out that Northern Italy has staked a claim on its origin. The menu didn't specifically say "minestrone" but it listed vegetable soup and that was close enough for me. It came out piping hot and it was soup and had vegetables but it was extraordinarily bland. I hope that at least that means the sodium wasn't outrageous but it certainly was after the salt required to make it enjoyable. We also ordered a pizza to share. The sauce was flavorful and the cheese was generously applied but I've had better pizza in NYC. GF ordered a Caesar salad. She says, "um. It wasn't like, that remarkable". Definitely solid place for a coffee and maybe their gelato is good but you can probably find better food elsewhere in Milan. At least I hope so. read more

First lunch in Milan Out of my three weeks in Italy, this was my first spot for lunch. We were just on a walk shopping around the Duomo and noticed it. When we arrived in a party of three and there was no wait. We went to their dining area where their table setting were extra cute with comfortable seating. Once seated, we were immediately given complementary bread. We decided on a light lunch since we had just gotten off the plane. We shared the following and its description: Seabass- This came served with sweet eggplant on the side. The actual seabass was breaded with what seemed like crushed corn flakes. The fish itself was fresh and tasty. Tuna Salad- The salad came out mixed with cherry tomatoes, tuna, mozzarella, corn and shaved carrots. It was beautiful and simple. Grilled Vegetables- This was simple. It included grilled peppers, mushrooms, and zucchini. It went well with our seabass. Gelato- At the seating area you cannot have gelato on a cone, only in a cup. So we shared three scoops among the three of us. We asked for one scoop of tiramisu and two scoops of pistachio. The gelato came out so beautifully presented. It was topped with a gorgeous chocolate art piece and a wafer cookie. Both flavors were amazing. The tiramisu was good but the pistachio was mind blowing. Probably the best pistachio gelato I have ever eaten ever. It is a must get. While I was there I also asked for an espresso that was very good and strong. I thought the food there was mediocre. The desserts and drinks though were very good. Pricing here is reasonable. The staff was very friendly and very sweet. They made great recommendations for us. The service was great and we really felt like we were eating at home. The inside of this place is extra cute. It has tad country/picnic feeling to it. The other side is their dessert/drink side. On the way to the bathroom, you pass by their beautiful wine room which is worth checking out. I was really glad this was our first stop and I recommend for quick treat or for lunch. read more

This is my Gelato stop near Duomo. I have had both their fruit flavors and their 'creams'. I tend to like anything lemon, slightly sweet, slight tart. The strawberry is yummy too. While the fruits are refreshing on a hot summer day, the creams are FULL of flavor! We had the coffee and vanilla last visit and they were both WoW! So much flavor. If you are near Duomo, take a walk down the block and get yourself a gelato from their sidewalk window. €3 for a small, 4 for a medium and 5 for a large, cup or cone. This is Italy. Cool atmosphere but disappointed in my sandwich. I got the crispy Milanese chicken sandwich and was surprised when it came out on a commercial hamburger bun...I didn't come to Italy to eat that. I can get a panino in any cafe for less than half the price on a great focaccia bread. It gets 3 stars because the chicken and egg were good and my boyfriends Milanese risotto was good. No tap water, extremely slow service, and rude manager. We came as a party of 5 and purchased ice cream at their window. When we came to sit down at their tables, they kicked the two people eating ice cream out and made them eat on their stairs 5 feet away from our table. We originally were told by the snarky manager no cones inside, so we bought more ice cream in cups. They were kicked out of the table to the steps again. Okay food... the bread was great but the margarita pizza was just okay. And the gelato wasn't the best either.. I had the chocolate and hazelnut. However, the place itself is super pretty and has the perfect location, being steps away from the cathedral. Also the service was not attentive at all?! Maybe this is a cultural difference. Service was unfriendly towards my party of English speakers. We were welcomed by a grumpy man and served by a grouchy barista. They made it very clear that they were not happy to serve us. If you are in the area steer clear of this establishment, they don't want to see you either. read more

Very clean, looks new. One of the best pizza crusts I've had in Italy. If you want a smaller meal you can order off the "baby menu". I had ziti with "veal ragout" which was an excellent bolongnese sauce. The bread is superb. Co- dinner shared pizza rustico with me. Good pizza although toppings a bit sparse but size good. I was very disappointed with this place. I was enticed by the gelato in the window. Ordered dinner. The food was disappointing, I had to frequently ask for service and the gelato tasted like frozen ice milk. The custard at Culver's is 10x's better. read more
