Went to Il Giardino for a late night dinner at caribe hilton. We wanted to share two dishes among four people and they were really accommodating. Got the chicken with mushrooms which was pretty good, and the spaghetti, which was good too. I was just disappointed because before our meals, the butter they brought out for us wasn't fresh... didn't like that at all. It was all gooey and melted. But anyway, the ambiance is casual chic but there is no view. It was empty when we went. Food was good but nothing blew me away. I'd pick Palmeras (right next door) over Il Giardino. read more

Pretty good continental breakfast, hot breakfast option for additional $7 but only one plate of scrambled eggs, meat choice, French toast, and some other misc options. The place is usually packed for the free breakfast, which makes it a bit too cafeteria like. Good waffles by the way. read more

We came here in a large group and we were the only ones in the restaurant. The service was terrible, it took us a half hour to get drinks and another half hour for bread. A table came in after us and was already on their dessert by the time we got bread. Hour long wait for very mediocre food. Italian food in puerto rico? What did I expect? I ordered the lasagna and it was a pathetic square of melted cheese and the mozz sticks tasted fresh out of the freezer. The decor and ambiance was cute, but it was noisy and everything echoed almost like a cafeteria. The best part of my meal was the diet coke. I would not return here. read more

A sorry place, an Italian (?) restaurant that serves only Chilean wine by the glass. Mionetto prosecco, $60 a bottle, we pay $10 dollar in New York's liquor stores. After going through the menu, we were smart enough to leave in a rush. It is a terrible image for the Hilton Hotels. read more

Breakfast is mediocre as many have reviewed but is included for HHonors, so I guess we can't complain...too much. Definitely not the usual fare for the Hilton brand hotels. The hot breakfast upgrade didn't seem worth it but many took the leap. read more

This restaurant is inside the Caribe Hilton complex. We only ate breakfast using Hilton Honors (HH) coupons. With the coupon the continental breakfast was complimentary. It consisted of pineapple, watermelon, cantalope, (premade) waffles, toast, pastries, two choices of cold cereal and vending machine coffee. The same breakfast was $12 without a HH coupon. You can use the HH coupon plus $9 to order a hot breakfast of eggs made to order. The hot breakfast without a coupon is...$18? The young staff is friendly enough. Eating here is one of the less expensive choices inside the Caribe Hilton complex. But the fruit and toast continental breakfast gets old quickly and upgrading is not a good value. Spend the five dollar difference and go next door to the Palmera breakfast buffet instead. This place makes you pay up front as you walk in the door and then they serve you one plate from the hot buffet, stingily only giving you one of each thing you ask for. Fresh fruit sadly included only assorted melon and bananas-none of the great tropical fruit people come here to enjoy like mango and papaya. The feel is even somewhat ghetto compared to the classy staff at Palmera. Additionally, since you pay up front there is zero service to the table other than collecting your plate. Finally, there is no ocean view. I would not recommend. read more

Very very expensive for average quality. We are staying in the hotel so we decided to try it out- would not go back. Our wait staff was very friendly but spoke minimal English so communicating was slightly difficult. The pasta was average- but not worth $22-$40 a plate. The wine I had (Pino Grigio) tasted like the bottle had been open for days! Overall, the price is far too high for such an average to low quality! read more

Yuck. Went on Valentine's Day thinking we'd have a lovely Italian meal. Was told there was half an hour wait (though there were seats and upon our return, those same seats remained). We ordered the lobster and crab ravioli and the veal marsala. They were just gross. Nothing special, tasted straight off the Sysco truck and were each like $30 and $36 for these small plates of yuck. Does not even deserve one star. I had the house salad which was some kind mayonnaise-type dressing over iceberg lettuce and unripe sliced tomatoes on top. The bruschetta was extremely garlicky and I could see the chunks of garlic mixed with again unripe tomatoes. The server was nice, but definitely true that you will be disappointed here. read more

Nope. $23 for a pizza that was literally swimming in grease. I had heartburn before I even tried it. My dad said, "if a fly landed on it, it would slip and break its leg." The service was okay, they were really nice but didn't ask once how it was. If the price matched the quality I wouldn't complain (or if the price included some Tums/healthcare coverage for indigestion complications). My dad and I had fun coming up with all the jokes for bad food but that was the only good thing that came out of it. And the wine was boring. read more

We had breakfast here since we stayed at Caribe! For the price of continental breakfast, this was just hopeless. Overpriced with no variety of food. To have eggs pr meat, you need to upgrade. I'd refrain to visit here for breakfast for sure. The staff was helpful but not the food. read more

This restaurant has some bad reviews on here, and I don't understand why. We almost didn't go here but decided to take a chance, and I am glad we did. Great service by the entire staff, and the food was absolutely delicious! It is reasonably priced, especially for resort hotel food. I had a pizza that was awesome, and my girlfriend had a delicious spaghetti carbonara. We would absolutely eat here again. GREAT food and GREAT service. read more

Not impressed. Like a lot of hotel food it is overpriced for what you get. We had a quick lunch while staying at the Hilton. I had a tuna sandwich for $14. I think I could have done better if I brought my own pack of tuna. It is an Italian restaurant so I understand that it is not their speciality but the pizza wasn't anything to rave about. read more

Extremely snooty. We came in here last night for dinner and I ordered the lasagna and my husband ordered the eggplant Parm. The lasagna tasted a little funky & I ended up being sick all night long. My husband said his eggplant parm was so-so. So tonight we just were in the mood for a simple pizza. We decided to go to the right side which was the less fancy part. The waitress had 12 to 15 empty tables & couldn't decide where to seat us. We told her we did not want to sit in the fancy part of the restaurant. They were just too snooty for our taste in there last night. So she finally figured out where to seat us and our waiter had an attitude with us. We looked at the menu and decided that they were still too snooty for us, even in the less fancy part. No more business from us for the rest of our stay here in San Juan Puerto Rico. We will be complaining to the front desk of the hotel to let them know about the nasty disposition of the employees at the Italian il Giordino restaurant. Unless you like being treated with a snooty attitude from a waiter, (who works for you since you pay his salary), don't go. read more

If I could rate this with no stars I would...first of all, we looked up the menu online to see what the food and price was like, however, when we got sat we got a similar menu to the one online, but with higher prices. The quality of food was awful, definitely not worth the $20-25 they charged for the meal. I think Olive Garden has better quality Italian food than this place does, for a much more reasonable price. Then, to top it off they charged us extra for bread, which was offered to us and also for a house salad that made Wendy's salads seem amazing! We also ordered wine that tasted old. For a $90 bill for just two people, you would expect the food to be amazing, which it was not. I would not recommend eating here if you are staying at the Hilton and the hotel should axe this place from their choices of dining. read more

FYI: Restaurant tries to suppress negative reviews from showing up so if you leave a bad review you may need to leave it more than once! Currently staying at the hotel and decided to try this restaurant. $133 for 2 adults and 2 kids and had better fast food at the airport last night. Bruchetta was made with a soft soggy bread. 2 glasses of wine (first thing we ordered) didn't come until halfway through the meal. When we notified the waitor still took another 15 minutes to arrive and with no apology that he forgot them. I ordered the chicken piccata which was edible, came with cold crusty mashed potatoes and frozen warmed carrots and broccoli. My wife got the salmon which also is best described as edible and came with the exact same cold crusty potatoes and thawed frozen vegetables. One of my daughter's got chicken nuggets which also appeared to be warmed frozen food with some fries ($10). My other daughter got a cheeseburger which was probably the best thing this wantabe Italian restaurant served. Overall, awful overpriced food with poor service. Do yourself a favor and try anywhere else. You will only be disappointed at this place. read more

The single star is for the well-meaning server but that's where it ends. The pasta sauce tastes like it had ketchup in it, the meatballs were edible but greasy. The seriously over-salted cream of broccoli soup was a weird neon color indicative of food coloring and did not really taste like broccoli. It was all a horror. OMG, I truly wish I would have read the other reviews prior to going in - though I would not have believed food could be SO bad and SO expensive at the same time. The one star that I am forced to give so I can publish this review is more than they deserve. Wine tasted like vinegar, not at all drinkable. Was happy I asked for a taste to save me from ordering. The soup was $9 and came in a cup. Campbell's soup would have been a dramatic improvement. Our waiter generously offered bread which literally tasted like slightly toasted Wonder bread - and, to my surprise, they actually had the nerve to charge $2 for it!!! I do not like Olive Garden, but would have given ANYTHING to be eating ANYTHING on their menu versus the $22 meatless Vodka sauce pasta served at Il Giardino. Avoid this restaurant at all costs. Service is a big issue. Stated we had a wheat allergy asked if eggplant was breaded (in both English and Spanish) assured it was not; eggplant was breaded. We then were sure to reiterate the allergy to the server and were told they had gluten free penne pasta, which we ordered. They served us with regular pasta. Had to send it back; the server seemed annoyed and not to understand the issue. read more

Staying at the Hilton has breakfast and dinner here. Breakfast is lack luster and there continental breakfast is as bare bones as it can get. Dinner there was good but the service was atrocious. Slow and the staff seemed irritated when asked to help with anything. read more

We thought we'd try this restaurant on our last night in the Caribe Hilton. Not a good choice! We even dressed up a bit for it and was disappointed at the waitstaff and food. I had the stuffed chicken breast, which was just ok...nothing spectacular. But, the bigger disappointment was our waiter. Older gentleman who asked for my drink order, then walked away and forgot to ask my boyfriend for his...then comes back for another drink order, this time asks my bf what he wants to drink then re-asks what I want to drink. When the food was delivered, he never came back around to see how it was or if there was anything else we wanted. At the end, he came by to pick up our plates and asked if anyone wanted coffee...which I said "yes, with cream and sugar" and he clarifies with me that it's "milk and sugar" and I say "that's fine". He comes back with the bill...no coffee, no cream, no milk and no sugar. I believe in tipping the waitstaff but with our $50 bill gave him only $4 dollars...which was already too generous. You'd have better luck eating at Palmera's in the Hilton. We liked that place a lot more. read more
