Atabey was a small café right next to our Airbnb in Condado, so it was such a convenient little find. The food has a simple, understated presentation, but the flavors were genuinely delicious! Everything we tried was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. The highlight for us was definitely the vegan mofongo, which is surprisingly hard to find. It was so nice to have a traditional Puerto Rican dish with a vegan option, and it did not disappoint. Such a cute, casual spot with great food--we're glad we stumbled upon it! read more

I tasked my husband with finding a breakfast spot this morning, and thanks to Yelp, he found a great one! It was conveniently located near our hotel, so we were able to walk there. I ordered the Cowboy Burger and requested it medium, but it came out well done. That seems to be fairly common from what I've experienced so far in Puerto Rico, so it wasn't a major issue. My husband had the Americana Breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed it. The other couple with us both ordered the ham and cheese croissant and couldn't stop talking about how good it was. In fact, everyone in our group is already talking about coming back before we leave! The restaurant is very cute inside, with a welcoming atmosphere and a full bar. They also offer brunch, lunch and dinner, and outdoor seating, making it a great option any time of day. This was a wonderful find, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious meal and a pleasant dining experience. read more

My husband and I stopped in for a late lunch/early dinner after a day at the beach, and it was fantastic! We ordered a burger, and it was absolutely phenomenal--fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The fries were exactly how I like them: thin, crispy, and delicious. The service was amazing from start to finish. The woman at the counter was incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful, which made the experience even better. The restaurant was very clean, had a beautiful view, and the overall atmosphere was wonderful. Great food, amazing service, and a beautiful location--we'll definitely be back! read more

This is a pretty good spot for vegetarians! Because we visited in the off season, they didn't have everything in stock. But we were still able to try the croquettes, veggie tacos, and truffle fries! Everything was delicious! The menu included a mix of American food and Puerto Rican food. The man serving us, who I assume is the owner, was very friendly and helpful. I'd love to come back to this restaurant in the peak season to try some of the items we didn't get to try this time. read more

Fantastic smoothies and Puerto Rican cuisine! My friends and I stopped by Atabey for lunch and there was no wait for a table. The space is small, but nicely renovated! The menu is expansive and has lots of vegetarian and vegan options. I got the Keep Calm Colada smoothie, which was so refreshing and perfectly sweet! We started with the Vegan Sampler and it was delicious! The hummus was super fresh. For my main, I ordered the Classic Mofongo with garlic cream and a black bean patty. You could tell that everything was made in house. It was unbelievably flavorful and very filling. Highly recommend! read more

Julia and I were walking by Atabey Condado on our way to the Oriental Store next door when Daniel, the bartender, stopped to chat with us. His friendly personality made us feel so welcome that we decided to come in for a drink. He introduced us to Jessica, the owner, who was equally kind and welcoming. Great drinks, great conversation, and an amazing atmosphere. We highly recommend stopping by if you're visiting Puerto Rico! read more

We stopped in for brunch and we're not disappointed. I had the cheese burger which was huge and perfectly cooked. My girlfriend had the baguette which she absolutely loved and my grandson had the cauliflower flat bread. Every dish was very good. The only negative is that they are a bit slow in serving their food. It seems like they may need some extra help. But overall it was very good. The restaurant is small but well decorated, a cool vibe. They also have outdoor dining with a few tables. A really cool spot!! read more

Did some research looking for delicious creamy mofongo al ajillo and landed on Atabey..so glad i did!! Right on the strip and easy to get to, it has a beautiful outdoor seating area bumping the latest tunes and an indoor dining room with about 5 tables and a wall of windows and a great ambience. Our Server Paola was sweet and attentive, we got the mofongo with carne frita, it was so delicious. I think i would have preferred the churrasco but wanted to try something different & honestly it was exactly what it was supposed to be. It was full of the delicious ajillo sauce but it was so good that i ate all the sauce and had to order more, which the staff promptly brought out. Definitely will come back here next time I'm in San Juan. Top 3 mofongos I've had. My boyfriend had the same but al criollo, he liked it a lot. read more

Delicious tacos. Just a limited menu and low staff. Nice little place being near the beach.

It was ok. The vegan mofongo was fairly tasty, and the tostones were fine. There was nothing outstanding about either. I do like that they have a vegan aioli (you have to ask for it), which I used for dipping my tostones. The dessert was a little dense/dry, but at least they offered a vegan dessert. Service was ok. I just think the waitress was over worked. She was running inside and outside by herself, and doing the best she could. They had live entertainment the night I went, and boy was it entertaining! The outside tables are great for people watching and enjoying the island weather. It's nice that they're vegan friendly. I'd love to see them add more innovation to their vegan offerings in the future. read more

Both service and food were great. Very relaxed atmosphere. Our favorite place in the Condado area

We stayed at Condado Vanderbilt for 12 days in the beginning of September. So happy to have such a great place right across the street. Drinks and food were fairly priced!! While we never ate in the restaurant, we looked forward to the evenings we ordered take out from here and enjoyed drinks while we waited for our order. Mozzarella sticks and chicken strips hit the spot! Even got to meet one of the co owners! She was a super cool lady and had great conversation with her. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone! read more

This was a cute place that seems to be popular for brunch but we ate there for dinner. They offer a little something for everyone including lots of vegetarian/vegan options :) We ordered the Tostones as an appetizer and for my entree I got the Classic Mofongo with vegan sauce and "stuffed" with the black bean patty. (FYI it didn't come stuffed but just served on top). The food was all super delicious! The only thing that was a little disappointing was that they were out of several items when we were there. Totally understand that that just happens sometimes, but unfortunately we had to change up our drink order, change our add-on for the entree, and we ended up going elsewhere for dessert as they were out of the vegan cheesecake too :( A bummer to not be able to try all of the things that we wanted to, but would definitely go again in hopes of getting to try again! read more

My husband and I enjoyed a quick and light dinner here. We ordered the fish and shrimp tacos. The fish tacos were amazing. I opted for the sauce on the side and ended up using the provided spicy hot sauce. The sauce was perfect!!!!! There was one young lady doing it all very efficiently. She glided effortlessly from table to table, mixing drinks etc. We never had to wait and she did an amazing job. The restaurant is small with outdoor seating. The service was prompt and cordial. Highly recommend this spot! read more

First stop in San Juan... a solid first that hit the spot we needed at he exact time we needed it. The pictures led me to believe it was a pretty upscale place, thankfully it was much more relaxed without falling fully into the street food scene. Menu selection was pretty solid and ran a wide spread from classic American to local Puerto Rican favorites. The food came out a little slower than I would like, but the quality made up for the wait. We ordered a couple cocktails to go with dinner and they were average. I would happily order them again, but I wasn't prepared to order a second. Too much sugar was the primary concern. The waitress that served us was friendly and happy to provide suggestion. There is limited indoor seating but plenty of seats outside. My only issue with the outdoor seating was the slightly loud music mixing with the street noise making conversation a little difficult. Overall, this was a great first stop and hit the spot with a good meal and a friendly smile. read more

We ordered the shrimp tacos, salmon and mofongo. We both liked the shrimp tacos, although they were salty. My lady liked the salmon but also said it was a bit salty. It was also a pretty small piece of fish. I ordered the mofongo with shrimp in the white garlic sauce. I am officially not a fan of mofongo. I would think twice fried plantains would be crispy. This dish was very mushy. The shrimp were good and I liked the white sauce. It had a mild garlic taste and a decent flavor. Overall though, I was not loving it and would not order it again. Service was good and the place is fine with a fast food/local bar type of ambiance. read more

Wanting to eat away from our resort we came here and were happy. It seemed like the place to be with people constantly coming in the door. Atabey Condado was a stop for a quick and easy dinner in San Juan, PR. It was awesome.! Not much to look at, inside or out, but the cocktails and food were delicious! We started with a Flor Tropical and a Mezcalrita, both were light and fun, no agave added. A gin martini followed in between courses.... Food started with the truffle fries, not super crispy, but served piping hot with a garlic aioli... yum! The fish tacos followed... easily some of the best we've ever had, super fresh fish, fried golden and served hot on flour tortillas, topped with slaw and pickled onions. Outstanding. The finale was the churrasco, med rare, skirt steak, served with house-made chimmi churri and tostones de pana (tostones made from breadfruit in lieu of the usual plantains), with a pile of mashed potatoes too! The steak was amazing, the pana tostones delicious, and the potatoes light and fluffy. A great dinner. They're open for breakfast too, we'll try that next time! Highly recommend Atabey Condado! read more

Look here.... I was flabbergasted when I saw my dish. I was here on a quick layover and a fellow co worker suggested this place. I was hungry and yes my dish. Tasted mid. As you can tell it was nothing as expected in the picture. The chicken tasted like frozen chicken finger which I'm sure it was. They were out of quite of other things I asked for. The space itself is small but they also have outside seating. The server was great super chill, not rushing us at all. Food wise, i had the fish tacos they were delicious , with a side of tostones & the hubby got chicken tenders and fries. The tacos were fresh and crispy! The tostones were perfect, just the right amount of salt on them. My husband loved his tenders and fries! On a different night I came with a friend for drinks. A great spot to grab lunch, brunch or breakfast, we came here couple of times during our recent stay nearby. The spot itself has limited seating indoors but they have additional seating outside. We tried a couple of things off the menu and everything was really good but the tacos stole the show. Chicken and fish tacos both were off the charts and we came back the second time just to grab the tacos. Great spot, good vibes with great service. Solid spot to grab food if in the area. read more

A great, quick stop for dinner. The restaurant is small- but a good bar area if you are dining alone. Service was great- very attentive and gave good recommendations. I started with the atabey salad- pretty standard- but quality ingredients. I forgot to request dressing on the side- but the balsamic was not added to heavy handed and was the perfect amount. First time having mofongo- it was amazing. The garlic sauce was addicting. Mofongo (unripened plantains- cooked and mashed) tastes like a hearty potato- it's a great unique flavor! read more

10/24/2020- After a run through Condado to El Morro and back, we decided to stop at Atabey located right in front of the Condado Vanderbilt Hotel. I decided to sit outside to enjoy the breeze. Derek was our server. I ordered the Avocado Toast with a Ginger/ turmeric smoothie. I was pleasantly surprised at not only the presentation of the dish but the flavors. Everything was fresh! I loved it so much, I decided to go back the day I was leaving 10/26. Unfortunately, they were closed but we're opening later. Next time! Highly recommend. read more

LOVED THIS PLACE! Wowza - my family and I couldn't get enough of this place. It is the cutest most quaint place in Condado. Our server was the only one running the place and she did a great job! She was so friendly and welcoming. She was able to answer all questions and make epic recommendations. Our drinks were amazing! I loved the Prosecco drink and might need to recreate this in the future. We had the wings and wow! Might have been one of the best sauces ever (we bought some to take home). The chicken mofongo with red sauce - the best I've had ever! We split the shrimp tacos which were huge and flavorful. My kids split the chicken tenders and fries as it was a big portion. The food came out super fast and the prices were reasonable. I definitely would love to come back next time I'm here! read more
