Amazing Experience at Serafina! I'm visiting Puerto Rico for the first time and staying at La Concha Resort, and Serafina truly made my trip even more special. Last night around 10:20 PM, I ordered the pesto gnocchi to my room and was so impressed the food arrived incredibly fast, perfectly hot, and absolutely delicious. I loved it so much that I came back today! This time I tried the Arugula Parmigiano salad and the passion fruit mojito. Everything was so fresh, full of flavor, and beautifully prepared. I came here to celebrate my birthday because I wanted to try something different from the traditional Puerto Rican food. I was excited for the experience, but I do want to be honest. The place still look very fancy, but I've been fancier places... First, it is definitely on the pricey side. We ordered three pastas, three appetizers, three drinks, and 2 Fiji waters bottles -- and were also charged for the birthday cake. The total came out to almost $400, service fee of $50! which was surprising. While the staff was amazing, attentive, and very kind (I truly have no complaints about the service), the food unfortunately didn't match the price point. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't memorable or worth what we paid. Overall, great service -- but for the cost, I expected more from the food. Loved the vibes, the bright lights and the service from Alondra and her trainer - they were amazing. The food was amazing. We had the apps - meatballs, octopus, and mozzarella and prosciutto. Serafina had a vibrant atmosphere. There were two bars and one was outside. Te weather was nice. I started with the Al Calore. It was a sweet shrimp dish. Very filling. Then we had the Farfalle Al Limoncello and the Lasagna. The portions were large. Both had a great flavor. Roberto was our bartender. He was so nice and friendly and observant. I've seen the Serafina chain around NYC before and was craving Italian cuisine so I decided to give it a try here in Puerto Rico. First thought the ambience was hip and trendy with graffiti like murals on the walls. Since it was a hot and humid summer night, I decided to sit inside to beat the heat, but unfortunately I could barely feel the AC. For my meal, I ordered the meatball appetizers and the chicken linguine. The portions were pretty generous and I feel like I could have easily shared my pasta, considering we had appetizers as well. The meatballs were pretty standard. It didn't have as much flavor as I'd hope in the meet itself, so I found myself constantly re-dipping it in the marinara sauce. The chicken linguine, although large in portions, lacked depth in flavor. It was overwhelmingly creamy. I found myself adding a couple rounds of cracked black pepper to try to give it some complexity. This is when I realized that this is the quality/standard I get for dining at an Italian chain restaurant. The service was great and I had no complaints. I'm a thirsty girl and drink a lot of water. Thankfully my waiter was attentive and kept refilling my glass. Overall, my experience at Serafina was OK. I feel like there are definitely better Italian restaurants at this price point. The vibes at this place and the service are phenomenal!! Our waiter was the sweetest, and he was always checking in on us to make sure everything was great. The goat cheese salad was good, but we both felt like it was too sweet. It could've done with a bit less honey to make it more balanced. Now THE MAIN COURSE. OMG. The chicken carbonara and the seafood risotto were both A++. I really loved how much seafood was included in the risotto and everything was just perfectly cooked. The pasta had a great smokey flavor and was also filled with protein. The passion mojito left something to be desired -- it was a bit bland when compared with the rest of the meal. Service was horrible. Place is empty and all employees on phones or in the corner chatting it up. I had to look for the bartender numerous times just to order a drink, then to order food. Food issues and check. And another drink. I know it's Island time but insane. Pizza was raw even though I asked specifically for well done back. I had to send back. It took twenty minutes and all they did was put under a heat lamp. Still raw. Two bites out of a $25 pizza. Never again. I'll stick to your NY locations. We had a reservation, arrived on time, and were seated right away. The food was very good. Everyone enjoyed their meal. We didn't see a kids menu but were able to order buttered noodles that the kids enjoyed. Each meal had good proportions, though if you have two small kids, recommend splitting the kids pasta. We were able to get a high chair for our little person. The service was good. Small things here and there but overall good. The ambience, well, for the prices that we paid I would expect a more elegant ambience and clean utensils. . Instead the vibe was bar scene and the music rotated genres from r&b, classic hip hop, rock, and country... and we had some utensils and cups that were dirty. I was drawn to this place by the smell of the food from outside of the restaurant while walking in SJPR. We did outdoor seating in the evening which was great nice weather. Drinks service was fast, food service took a while to a point where i had to ask "how much longer?" It didn't help that i was hungry lol. Overall the food was good the scenery is good i don't feel like there was anything special about it but if your look for a nice Scenic dinner this would be the place. It's located on the Ashford avenue, walkable from lot of apartments and hotels. Decent number of options for vegetarian. Couple of pasta and pizzas. We got primavera pizza- which on description says tomatoes, mushrooms and seasonal garden vegetables. So basically tomatoes sauce and whatever vegetables they have. I asked for mushrooms replacement but was told they can only remove or add extra but no replacement allowed.i was told it will have onion, bell pepper and other veggies. Eventually I got just tomatoes, olives, a little of Chinese broccoli and that's it. Our waiter spreaded extra cheese on top of it. Bruchetta - DO NOT RECOMMEND it. Very hard bread and it just cut tomatoes put on it. No flavor at all. Apparently they were suppose to put basil and EVOO but I didn't see/got a slight flavor of it. Overall nice ambience and music going on. Clean women bathroom. They had sink attached to each restroom. On spring break with my friends and we had a great dinner at Serafina! The food was yummy, and the drinks were strong, which we really appreciated. I had the orecchiette pasta, and it was very good--perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The atmosphere was lively, and the service was friendly. That being said, the menu is definitely on the pricier side, and the added service fees make it even more expensive. While we enjoyed our meal overall, the cost is something to keep in mind. We ordered salads and entrees and after waiting for about 15-20 min, all the foods came at once, which was a bit annoying since the hot foods will get cold while we ate our salads or appetizers. The restaurant is well decorated, I especially enjoyed the murals. We started the meal off with margaritas which were very good. I chose to have the fried calamari (it was good, nothing special) and the penne e vodka (liked it, but wasn't too big of a fan of the sausage). My friend had the fries and margherita pizza (forgot to take a picture, but it was topped with a few olives). She seemed to enjoy her meal as well. Although nothing we had was groundbreaking, it was a satisfying meal nonetheless. If you're looking for your Italian fix in San Juan, I think this is the perfect place to do so! read more

My boyfriend and I dine in one night before closing. The host quickly sat us down prior to order. The waiter was very knowledgeable of the dishes and stayed observant if we needed refills or any needs during our dining experience. My boyfriend and I had pasta for dinner. He had the Chicken Carbonara and I had the Tagliolini al Pollo (chicken, mushrooms, and peas) I added shrimp. It is $11 to add a meat, just FYI but worth it. The noodles were a little overcooked because some were stuck together but overall the taste was scrumptious! The portions were more than enough! If I ever visit San Juan again, this place is a must! I've come here about 3 times for breakfast after staying at LaConcha and the food is always good and fresh. My daughter had the steak and eggs which I had on my previous trip and it was delicious. I've also had the Be Well pressed juice (beets, carrot, ginger), the matcha, and the chai teas. All of these beverages are amazing. My best friend and I came back for the matcha and chai everyday even when we didn't eat breakfast here. Julianna was our waitress and she is amazing! Please ask for her and tip generously. She remembered our allergies and drink orders. The outdoor seating area is beautiful if you can handle the chicken, her chicks, and some birds flying around every and now again. The indoor space is darker and moody but still cozy. Highly recommend for breakfast if you're in the area, whether you're a guest at the hotel or not. read more

I ordered gluten free pasta (which is a $7 up charge and is advertised on their menu) and was told 5 minutes later than they had run out of gluten free pasta and that my only option was to "just have wheat pasta" when I explained that I cannot eat wheat the waitress was extremely rude and spoke in a condescending tone and said she "didn't understand" but that there were "probably" other things gluten free on the menu. At this point I shut down from the way I was being talked to and how my being gluten free was being treated. I am understanding when gluten free cannot be accommodated, but it is never okay to make someone feel this uncomfortable because of a dietary restriction. read more

Came here on the recommendation of a tour guide at the Casa Barcadi that said that they had the "Best seafood hands down!" Little parking if at all. Wait time to be seated was very short and they have nice options for seating in and outdoors, however, with a practically empty restaurant, our food did take awhile. Ordered the tropical explosion and 7 Sage 7 to drink. The Tropical Explosion was of my favorite cocktails I had in San Juan! The tropical explosion was very light and had a great sweet rum taste! On the other hand, the 7 sage 7 was a bit stronger with a hint of lime and honey but otherwise not very remarkable. Ordered the Tartare tuna and Brucetta to start us off The Brucetta and Tartare tuna were both very fresh and delicious! At first I thought the avocado (guacamole) on the top was interesting but it's added a great flavor to the tuna! For our main course we had the Bronzino and the Farfalle Limoncello. Originally I was going to give this restaurant 4 stars, however both of these dishes were SO GOOD!!! The Farfalle Limoncello was maybe the best pasta I've ever had. Very cheesy and the limon zest was just the perfect touch to this dish. For the Bronzino, the fish was amazing, roasted potatoes were cooked to perfection! Personally, I enjoy this serafina more so than the NYC locations. the vibe is fun, the drinks are so delicious and fun. the food is yummy of course and the staff is really friendly. I recommend having a reservation but depending on the size of your group, the wait might not be too long. plus La Concha is right next door so you can go play in the casino while you wait! the outdoor seating area is so warm and photogenic. I also went with my grandma (& friends) on my birthday and she of course told the world it was my birthday and the staff was super sweet about it and brought out a slice of chocolate cake with a sparkler for me.
