Seriously amazing. I was surprised to find a place that held itself out for vegetarians but it also is very clear about any allergy as well. The menu was so creative also. It was not just the usual red sauce, they had a ton of different options and they all sounded so great. I came before 3 pm which limits what you can get because I was eyeing the veggie lasagna but alas the orichetti was amazing as well. read more

Read the YELPs and Travel Advisor reviews, booked a table through the Fork. Definitely book a table, a couple walked in, and even though there were empty tables, no reservations were a 30 min wait. They are mentioned in the Michelin guide. I had the squash crepe, really lovely layers of delicate flavors. Perfect meal to fly into Florence for. It's all about the house made olive oil, so spend a few Euros for a couple of slices of delicately toasted artisan bread drizzled with this elixir of the Gods sprinkled with the right amount of salt. In a word: fantastico! My new bride & I decided to stop by this quaint & cozy restaurant after a long day of Tuscany tours, primarily due to proximity - attached to our hotel in Florence, though we had no idea at the time we initially read the raving reviews. From the moment we arrived, the staff (young gentleman) was extremely friendly and accommodating in every way...not always a given in Italy. The wine recommendation from our waiter was spot on. After some Chianti tasting earlier in the day, we decided to change things up with a dry, yet semi-sweet white. Very refreshing. As for the food, for starters, the mixed salad (and table bread variety) was very fresh and had a light ginger-esque dressing. Fresh strawberries on the plate rim added bonus points. Our next course consisted of some of the best (white) lasagna I've ever had, period. Some may say a little dry, but I felt it hit the mark. Marinara lasagna is my usual go-to, but my preference may have changed after tonight. As for the entrée, I had the pork & onion and she had the chicken with red wine special. Both extremely different flavors, yet both delicious in their own right. In the end, this was a superb way to end yet another fabulous day on our Italian honeymoon. Gratzi!!! read more

Recommended to us by the receptionist at Hotel Colomba, this was a great pick. The menu was simple and all the items seemed unique and appetizing. The service and ambience was nice and welcoming. We had the la fettunta, crema di cavilfiore e sedano rapa and crepe with yellow pumpkin, rosemary and burrata cheeae. The food was simply too good. To end it we had the dark chocolate with organic compote. Frankly speaking it made me wonder why have i been avoiding deserrts for dinner !! Came out right from the oven, it was very light, hot and had just the right amount of sweetness. Great italian food experience. read more

Federico treated us like VIP. He was very cheerful, attentive and had such a positive vibe about him. He was like the Jack of All Trades because he made our food and he was also our server. I really like how they are conveniently located right next to the hotel Il Guelfo Bianco (I will review this awesome hotel shortly). I was also told that this restaurant uses only organic ingredients and you can definitely taste the quality of the ingredients that they use for their dishes. Lasagna with white meats ragu: the best white lasagna I have ever tasted! We ate this almost everyday during our stay at the hotel because we loved it so much. We also enjoyed the platter of prosciutto and other cured meats and specialty cheeses. I also pretty much drowned myself in their olive oil and balsamic vinegar which they supplied with their bread. I never had anything like that olive oil before. It was amazing. For dessert I had their Parmesan flan which had the perfect smooth texture, almost like a super smooth quiche. I loved the pea purée that surrounded the flan. I never expected peas to complement a flan but theirs certainly did. The place is small and cozy and I love the chill atmosphere here. We definitely will grab lunch here again when we come back to Florence! read more

Dinner 17 June 2017: We were going to try the set Summer menu but instead chose to eat family style with a variety of appetizers and main courses. The restaurant is in a hotel and tiny, reservations are definitely recommended. We had the Prosciutto Toscano with fresh mozzarella, Fresh marinated salmon carpaccio in orange sauce with organic salad, special of the day, Rabbit with Foie Gras, "Fettunta" roasted Tuscan bread with organic extra virgin olive oil, Lasagna al Ragu and Pork Tenderloin (Fileto di Maiale). Washed down with an excellent Chianti, which is very inexpensive and it really works You can see the chefs preparing your dishes and the service was excellent. After 2 weeks in Italy, we found this place when I just couldn't do anymore gluten-filled pizza and pasta dishes and just needed a break. This was, hands down, our best meal during our entire travels. Everything was fresh, delicious, and popped with flavor. We'd been traveling with our 6 year old and 6 month old, and not ONE restaurant during our entire trip offered us a baby chair or really ANY kind of anything for our kids- most places seemed totally put off that they were with us. Here, our server went out of her way for us AND our children- even having a puree of beans brought our for our little one. We left full, in love with the food, and with 2 tins of their housemade olive oil. My only sadness is that we didn't find this place before our last day in Florence! AMAZING! read more

We came her after noticing the Michelin recommendations on the door. Made a reservation via Fork, arrived and proceeded to have the best dinner during our stay in Firenze. It's a small place with additional dining in the back. We were able to watch our chef make our dinners with a loving touch. The wines were spectacular. I had the tagliatelle with asparagus and Pork fillet wrapped in Tuscan lard. exquisite. The presentation was spot on and the staff was welcoming and friendly. This is an organic restaurant with vegetarian, vegan and dairy free options as well. The menu was so diverse that I think anyone can eat here and be satisfied, well I am for one! waiters were very friendly! Anyway, I ordered the eggplant parmigiana (9€) for a starter with my aperol spritz. Just think of this as an eggplant lasagna without the lasagna. It was soooooooo good. The portion is actually good for two people to share but note that you might not want to share with anyone. It was served hot with bread and all the flavors together was just so satisfying. For my main dish, I took the fresh pasta Chittarina (11€) in fresh tomato sauce. The noodle texture is thicker than spaghetti and similar to ramen noodles. The sauce was good and cheesy but this dish didn't strike me as something I would want again. The eggplant parmigiana would be my preferred dish here! Given that I ate the parmigiana before and finished it, it was tough to eat this dish entirely. Taking it to go is possible, FYI. read more

Enjoyed two wonderful meals, a lunch and a dinner, at this wonderful spot. The quality of the food is superb, and the staff take great pride in both growing and serving it. We tried the lasagne, roasted pumpkin, sautéed spinach, sformatino (broccoli and ricotta) and spinach flan. Pork skewers for lunch and a rolled veal/chick pea/pecorino dish were both superb specials. Wine recommendations were superb and very affordable. After chatting with the chef, he shared pecorino pieces with truffle balsamic glaze with us. There are so many great choices in Florence. Small seasonal menu of wonderful organic food in an absolutely beautiful small space. We stopped in for both lunch and dinner (there is no dinner menu, it's just a bistrot and closes at 8). The owner's daughter's boyfriend was on duty and he was absolutely charming and entertainingly but not too talkative. We had fennel and orange salad, ribalitto (bread) soup, a sandwich, a bit of roasted pumpkin, and apple "pie" with pine nuts. the roasted pumpkin was all that was left at the end of the day and was spectacular. simply roasted with some fresh thyme. the apple pie was actually a lovely cake. everything else was excellent. the highlight though was a slice of lightly toasted bread doused in their house-made olive oil that was given to us while we waited for our food. The best olive oil I've had in my life - and we left with 3 liter bottles, guess we'll be checking luggage! read more

Some of the best food we've had during our stay in Florence. It's right in the city center by Basilica San Lorenzo and a short walk from the Duomo. All dishes we got were DELICIOUS!! Their farm fresh ingredients brought a light, refreshing taste during the hot day. We started with the organic peach salad with sesame seeds, and fell in love with the eggplant parmigiana, gluten free bread, and veggi lasagna with ricotta and organic zucchini. After devouring our dishes, we were not surprised to see the various Michelin Star suggestions, and countless awards noting their excellent gluten free menu. Wow. What a great find. Looking for a nice place close to the hotel, we came here without a reservation at 9pm and they found a spot for us. This is the best we've had in Florence and maybe ever. Really excellent, local, organic food that tastes amazing. The menu was creative without being weird and they have an excellent wine list. The crêpes; insanely good. I even got a special dish made for me because I really wanted to try the pork but it was garnished with a licorice sauce, which I hate. Instead I got some pork with cheese and a mini salad; amazing! I haven't tried the dessert but judging by everything else I've eaten here, I'm pretty sure they're really good as well. To start, I had the Cauliflower soup. From the first bite, I knew my whole meal was going to be great! We had some local craft beers recommended from our waiter. We went there for a late lunch. The place is beautiful and was not too busy but started to get busy once we were there. The food was delicious and served promptly. My wife had a pasta with squid that was very tasty. The kids shared a traditional lasagna which they devoured. My mother-in-law had a pasta pomodoro sauce which was oh so delicious. I had the roasted seitan which was pricey but also very tasty and a great dish for a vegan who sometimes craves beef. I'm giving it three stars for 3 reasons 1). they wouldn't give us olive oil with the bread. Something about needing to charge us for some other type of bread but whatever.... it made no sense that they wouldn't give us olive oil. While the bread was good, it definitely needed some olive oil to go with it. I think they sell her own brand so it seemed odd they wouldn't let you sample it with the bread. 2). My 11 year old moved a small, cheap flower vase on the table over to her to inspect and one of the servers quickly pulled it off the table and puts it right near the olive oil that we can't use. My wife was pissed. I had to beg her not to insist to have the flowers returned. It made the meal awkward. When the nice waiter asked if we wanted anything else, e.g. dessert....my kid said, on cue, "no, I just really wanted some olive oil". She could have added and "a nice flower on our table." 3). My Aperol spritz was the worst I had this week and the most expensive. So, great food, but they can keep their Michelin star and attitude. Our least favorite dining experience in a week in Italy. Just popped in here looking for a gluten free place to eat. This place has beautiful decor. We ordered the buffalo cheese tomato caprese as an appetizer which was 10/10. I had the rabbit stew which was 9/10 the only miss was the rabbit was maybe just a tad over cooked but the flavors were a huge win. My mom had the veal with salad and she said it was a solid 8.5/10. They even sat us for lunch even though they were closed. Overall this place is great the staff is extremely friendly and can accommodate gluten and dairy problems easy!!!! First meal on my first trip to Firenze at iL Desco was what I needed. I had mixed veggies with rice, and side of mushrooms and artichokes for appetizers. The veggies were very fresh and there were plenty of herbs in the dish. The mushrooms and artichokes were tasty and didn't seem like they were from a can. One grip I have was that the guy microwaved the rice which I don't like. I could've asked them next time to place it in the turbo oven instead. Then I had the guinea fowl wrapped with bacon and veggies. The person preparing placed a lot attention to decorating the dish with more veggies and oil. Best meal I've had all week honestly. The blend of flavors, herbs, and oil were perfect. I think he drizzled the fat from the fowl at the end. Perfect! If you there before 5:30 or 6 you will have to deal with the one man service. But the food is worth the wait and they really pay attention details and quality of food here. read more

This is by far one of my favourite restaurants in Florence. Everything is vegetarian, local and farm fresh. I'd been here about 2 years ago and had the most delicious lunch, so of course I had to come back. My boyfriend and I enjoyed the caprese and panzanella salads, so much that we came back for a second meal. It's a small bistro with excellent service. I joined Yelp just to write a review of this restaurant. I went here for lunch one of my last days on a recent trip to Florence (having lived in the city for years previously) and wish I had stopped by sooner. I am gluten free and vegetarian and had no problems here, whatsoever. The food was top notch. I had the sformata di ricotta e broccoli and the flavors were perfectly balanced. I then shared the chickpea soup (which was perfectly seasoned) and the pasta with zucco giallo and burrata. This was absolutely incredible. The pasta was perfectly cooked (and gluten free too!) and when you took a bite with all three ingredients the textures melded to give a taste of silky butter that was to die for. The olive oil on the table was one of the best I had ever had, and they even had gluten free bread for me to dip in it. By the time we finished our main course the owner personally came over to make sure our meal was ok, as we had two dietary restrictions. She could not have been nicer. We finished off our meal sharing the apple pie and the chocolate cake (both gluten free!). Both desserts tasted decadent but were not heavy, a wonderful combination. After that, the owner brought us shots of organic limoncello, with lemons from her friends in the Amalfi Coast. I have never had better limoncello. You could fully appreciate the taste of the lemons; there was no burning sensation that you experience with other limoncellos. To find a restaurant like this is one in a million. That everything was organic was the icing on the cake. Often when I eat out in Florence I enjoy the meal, but end up feeling bloated afterwards; not so here. This will become a regular stop for me on future visits. NB: Don't let the small initial appearance fool you- There is a small seating area in the front of the restaurant and a much larger room in back. Also, the bathroom was absolutely immaculate.
