Omg! The food was soon good here. This restaurant deserves a solid 5 star experience! The food was perfect in quality and perfectly portioned and balanced. The porcini soufflé was to die for! The beet salad was perfect with hazelnut crumbles. The lamb chops was perfectly medium rare and the scallops were fresh and perfectly seared on mashed potatoes parsnips! The pistachio Baked Alaska was good! It was a first class meal and my favorite Italian restaurant in Waltham. I will come here again! The service was professional and ambience was contemporary chic. I learned that this restaurant was 40 years old but this was a new location.

Giannone Chicken 'Schnitzel'

It's the first time I visited ll Capriccio and was impressed by the quality of their food and service. We booked a table for 8 on a Monday night and were given a private room. The place was clean and the hostess was friendly. Our private room was spacious and inviting. They do have outdoor seating and it looked nice. Food was amazingly good as they used fresh and high quality ingredients. Our waitress Ann recommended the Giannone Chicken 'Schnitzel and it was one of the best chicken dishes we had tried. The chicken breast was crispy outside and moist inside. There was a fried egg on top of the chicken and the smooth buttery flavor of the egg yolk enhanced the taste of the chicken. Veal Scaloppine Valle d'Aosta was a great option for veal lover. It was tender and the Porcini Marsala sauce had a delicate flavor. Also we tried two fish dishes and they were both delicious and fresh. Our server Ann was excellent and knowledgeable about all the items on the menu. She provided good suggestions for us. Having such a great server made our experience more enjoyable. Lastly they had a few options for non alcoholic mixed beverages. So it is a really good place to bring your family and friends here. Who doesn't like having a delicious drink in a cute cocktail glass while eating a delicious dinner? I am highly recommend this place and will definitely go back.

Pappardelle, Tuscan Rabbit Ragù

My experience at Il Capriccio was spectacular, from the amazing food to the great service. You could definitely taste that the food was very high quality, making the prices worth it. We started off with two drinks which were refreshing. My friend got the Sangria Rossa (which was very sweet but yummy) and I got the Strawberry Negroni (which was a bit on the stronger end but still great)! The escargot was excellent. We loved the Tarragon Cream as it was very rich and flavorful. The cream sauce paired incredibly well with the escargot and the herbed polenta. The herbed polenta was a bit crispy yet soft in the middle, which was delicious. I also really liked the Gnocchi I got, which was very creative with the apples, pears, and walnuts. I do wish there was a bit more sauce, but the quality and freshness of the gnocchi really stole the show. The pappardelle was also really yummy and the rabbit didn't taste overcooked at all. To end the night, my friend and I shared a Warm Pear and Almond Tart with Prune Armagnac Ice Cream. The liquor was super strong in the ice cream but was delicious nonetheless. I loved how fresh the fruit was and it was clear that the cream was made in-house. Throughout it all, our server would check up on us, provide recommendations, and ask if we wanted more bread. The bread was great as well since it was warm and fluffy! Overall, I'm super excited to come here again. The menu changes every month but there are always a lot of creative dishes that sound delicious!

Amazing owner and awesome food. The wine is great, too. Highly recommend! I will be back.

Squid Stuffed with Sausage & Clams, Spicy Tomato Brodo

We went to this restaurant for a birthday celebration. We had a wonderful meal. In terms of ambiance, the room was nicely decorated. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and provided great service. We had the signature soufflé porcini for appetizer. It was a rich and creamy appetizer full of mushroom flavor. We also had squid stuffed sausage and clam, which was also delicious. For entrees, we had mushroom risotto, pan seared scallop, and lamb. The scallops were cooked well but there were only four of them and they were not big, but it was tasty. The lamb was prepared perfectly. Mushroom risotto was a bit too salty to my liking. The cocktail was very good. All in all, although we had minor complaints, we still consider it as a great meal at this restaurant.

Yellowfin Tuna Tartare, Avocado, Peppers, House-Made Chips

Well executed traditional Italian fare with fantastic service. The meat (veal, schnitzel and carpaccio) were all prepared perfectly and the accompanying flavors were unique but stayed true to the original dish. The service at il capriccio has always been fast and engaging without over-burdening. We had a table that was quite loud next to us this time, which made the atmosphere a bit underwhelming, but normally it's the perfect place for a night out.

We were seated in a high top across from the bar. Our server, Hannah, was pleasant and cordial. My wife ordered the southwestern salad and I ordered a burger with a $2 upgrade to make the tater tots "garlic". Her salad comes and is much smaller than expected for $18. My burger came and I ordered it medium rare and it was well done. I sent it back to be refired to the proper temp and while I waited I ate the tater tots. I expected a $2 upcharge to be at least fresh garlic but it was garlic powder. On top of that, when I finished the tots(before the second burger) there was a pool of oil at the bottom of the basket plus 2 pools that leaked onto the table. The refired burger came back via a food runner, not a manager, and this burger was also not medium rare but I was hungry so I ate it. When we let Hannah know about the out l oil she explained that they regularly are cleaning up oil and not to worry about it. I'll be going to the Muffin House down the road from now on. You should also.

Cazuela de Coliflor Asada (9/10): Insanely good dish. The cauliflower has perfect texture, complemented by the pistachios. The sauce is SO good. The cauliflower soaks it up so well. Chicharrones (9/10): Melt in your mouth pork belly. The pork skin crust was perfect. The sauces really make most of the dishes here. This dish is no different - I loved the sauce. Ropa Vieja (9/10): Perfectly slow cooked meat. One thing that really stood out to me was actually the white rice. The rice was VERY high quality, and I appreciated it so much. It's rare to come by rice this good. It had the perfect texture, chew, and fragrance. Ropa Vieja de Hongos (9/10): Pretty much the same as Ropa Vieja above. The mushrooms are delicious, and the dish is just as good whether your order the mushroom or steak version. Empanada del Carne (9/10): Oh man, the crusts are so good. This is pretty on par with the ones I just had in Puerto Rico. Chuletas de Cordero (8/10): The seasoning is heavenly. I was licking the lamb chops clean. Croquetas (8/10): Very solid croquetas. Wouldn't say it's a must-order, but you can't go wrong with them. Costillas a la Guayaba (6/10): The first time I had this it was really nicely marinated, and the rib meat is so tender that it almost falls off the bone. The second time, the meat was dry. Maduros con Tocino (6.5/10): This dish was pretty good, but got overshadowed by the other ones. Pulpo (6.5/10): Octopus was tender and savory. The potatoes were too salty. Camarones a la Plancha (6.5/10): Solid dish, but I enjoyed some other ones even more. Ensalada de Aguacate y Pina (6/10): The salad was a bit too sour, and that sourness overpowered the dish. It was a great blend of ingredients, though. *** and one dessert *** Churros con Chocolate (8.5/10): Big crunchy fluffy churros!! The chocolate sauce is amazing (not really spicy at all). You have to get this for dessert!!

Our server was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. I ordered an Old-Fashioned and my companion a glass of chardonnay, both of which came promptly and were enjoyable. After some inquiries I settled on the self-advertised fall-off-the-bone baby back ribs. My companion asked about a favorite no longer on the menu, a salad with grilled chicken, and after checking with the kitchen our server was happy to report it could be ordered. My companion asked for dressing on the side and unfortunatel the salad came out dressed. Our server was happy to return it to the kitchen and it came out after not too much time had elapsed, the way she'd ordered it. I'm always skeptical that ribs will be fall-off-the-bone but these were close. Unfortunately, they seemed a little off; I still can't decide if they were on the dry side, lacking in flavor, or both. But the meat did come off the bone easily, so there was that. They came with french fries which were good, The location is handy and there is on-site parking. The atmosphere was energetic and it must be a popular after-work place because there were several large (10+) tables occupied. Still, not sure I would go back soon when there are other comparable places in the area.
