If you are looking for great pizza, don't let the "limited" atmosphere of this restaurant make you go elsewhere. The pizza is absolutely fantastic, the service is friendly, and the prices are reasonable. Having grown up in the NYC metro area, I am pretty demanding when it comes to pizza. This place serves some of the best anywhere, better than a lot of the places I've tried in the city and in NJ. If it was in the city instead of a small town in NC, it would absolutely contend for the best of NY award! read more

This is okay-good pizza. Not authentic at all. The crust and sauce are the highlight, but only when it's fresh. Ground beef as a topping? No Pizza Regina? And I'm not sure what's going on with the toppings on that Supreme. All that said... it's probably the better pizza place in Newton. But you don't have to go far to find better. read more

Great food. Authentic NY pizza made by the owner. The owner is Italian and from NY. He is so sweet and makes a great pizza!

I'll Bambini has become a go-to place for us. The pizza is really good and we can purchase by the slice. Service has always been fantastic! read more

Just had lunch there with my son. He comes home from college and EVERYTIME - me "where do you want to eat?" R- "Bambini!!" It is so worth it!!! read more

I dined here with two others yesterday evening after reading raving reviews, so we all went in with high expectations. I am completely perplexed that this restaurant could muster up more than two stars. It is a huge restaurant with a wide open space, a row of booths on either side & a few tables along with kid's tables in between the booths. I like a good hole in the wall restaurant, but this place was something else with zero ambiance. It did not feel like the A/C was on so it was pretty stuffy in there. I regret not taking a picture of the dining area because my description does not do it justice. There was only one man working who did everything & he was polite. The food was flavorless, the fettuccine was very runny/watery, & the slices did not even look appetizing. On top of the lackluster food, the price point was high with pasta starting at $14.00. Overall, I do not recommend & I would not want to try again. read more

Born and raised in NJ so I know a thing or 2 about pizza. If you want authentic NY pizza this is your place. Thin sliced, easily folds. The man even makes his own mozzarella. You can order by the slice and all the different options are presented behind a counter, just like back home. Sound like you know what you're doing and order "a plain slice" or a margarita slice for true NY flavor. read more

I know when a pizza is made fresh. This was not made fresh. This was reheated. I'm being nice by giving me a three stars

Best pizza in town we're so glad we found this pizza The Owner works hard to make your visit enjoyable. The crust is the best and the toppings are generous. We love the sauce too. Ya gotta try this place read more

My daughter and I were in town for a basketball tournament. Had some time before the game, so we decided to find a place to eat. Pizza sounded good, so we headed on over. We were a little hesitant bc it's a small place in an older shopping center, but decided to go for it. We couldn't have been happier! The pizza is just amazing. Thin and crispy crust. Great toppings. Delicious sauce. The owner was super nice too. If you're in town, give it a try. You won't be sorry. read more

Giving them the benefit of the doubt because it was the end of the day. I hate being that customer but I was looking for authentic NY Style pizza to try tonight and this place was the last one open past 9... supposedly. Looking on Yelp now, I see the hours here are posted til 9pm. On Apple, and Google the hours say til 10. My buddy and I arrived at 9:15 to an extremely dark strip mall. the grumpy dude wouldn't answer the door til after I called the place. Again I'll give him benefit of the doubt cause it was past close at this point against my knowledge. I get home we had ordered a 4 cheese pizza with light sauce. The 4 cheese is not listed to have fresh basil yet ours came with it which wouldn't have been an issue if there wasn't a hair in it. And I don't know about yall but this does NOT look like light sauce or 4 cheese. I'm giving it 2 stars cause I haven't actually tried the pizza yet (it needed to be reheated by the way it felt like it had been sitting out for 2 hrs) and it might actually be good but I'm gonna need some strong convincing to want to to come back here. read more

Love this small place. Best Pizza and the owner is super. Tried a calzone last week. It my new favorite thing there. Love Bambini.

Best Ny style pizza I've had outside of NYC and prolly better than most I had there. Miss them in Bethlehem.

Returned for 4th time and ordered cheese pizza with onions and anchovies. Generous amount of toppings. Absolutely delicious! Will order this combo the next time. read more

I have to say if you want real New York style pizza then this is the place. I heard about the place a week ago and I had to try it. Since then I am now back here again the crust is perfect and the sauce is amazing. Very hard to find real NY flavour and now I don't have to look no more. If you have not tried them you have too. And if you never had real New York pizza then you must go there read more

EXCELLENT! Pizza is fantastic and the owner is super friendly! Definitely recommend this place!

Always great pizza! Less emphasis on atmosphere, but hits pretty high on food quality.

Holy sh*t.....this is the best pizza we have ever had. We are from Oklahoma and staying in Hickory, NC for a wedding (and really would have no reason to travel back to Hickory) but we genuinely would come back to this town for this pizza only. If I ever got to select a last meal, it would be a large pepperoni pizza from here. read more

Hands down, the best pizza I have ever had. Made fresh, fresh ingredients and all of that made with the LOVE of the craft. Don't believe me, go check this place out for yourself. The friendly service, it's like he knows everyone by name, and their favorite slice. I will be back! P.S. I hope he makes it through this CoronaVirus time (with business slowing down etc,) read more

Awesome food and fast service. Looking forward to going again. Just wish they were open on Sundays but I certainly understand.

Great, authentic pizza. Had the Margherita and will come back for it next time I'm in town.

Great Pizza! Great customer service. The owner is starting up and he loves the area. He wants to be here so come out and support the local business. This is the best pizza in the Newton Conover Area. Bring cash starting out, he is waiting on internet to get installed. read more

This has a small town pizzeria feel and the pizza speaks for itself. Great service and even better pizza!

Great pizza at affordable price. Easy to order and pick up. Lots of choices for toppings.lots of other menu items but only tried pizza. The calzones look delicious though. Give it a try. read more

Best pizza in town!! They are all so nice there very respectful and patient! Hickory has been needing a pizza joint like this! We won't order pizza from anywhere else since trying il bambini read more

Best pizza in Hickory/Catawba county. The owner is a super good guy and a very hard worker. I could eat this pizza every day.

Love the pizza. We like it better in the fall and winter. There is usually no flies on the pizza this time of year.

The owner has been making pizzas the old fashioned way for 30+ years and it shows. He makes his own ingredients and it's all natural. Go to a regular pizza place and see how you feel after you're done eating compared to here. It's simply amazing. I wanted to take the time to write a review to hopefully get more customers to show up read more

I am giving this place two stars because one they said the pizza would be ready in 35 mins which turned into almost two hours. Two the chef yelled at my mother for asking when it would be ready after waiting for the first hour. Yes the pizza was good but certainly not worth the wait. Also they wore no mask which is mandatory in North Carolina. read more

My five-year-old was attracted by the signage and got the idea that they must have the best pizza ever. After selecting a few slices of pre-made pies from the display case, I cannot disagree with her premonition. There were so many yummy choices to choose from that we need to go back again soon. I am a transplanted Yankee and as such, am a tough pizza critic. Let me tell you, good people, this man makes a killer pizza pie! I was drooling over his listed dessert, Limoncello Cheesecake. He tells me he has a source. TBC read more

I'm reviewing again because I've tried a new pizza here and it's the best I've ever had. The "Grandma" pizza. The crust reminds me of Focaccia bread, crunchy and topped with cheese first and then finished with the most amazing marinara I've ever had. If you love tomatoes and appreciate a beautiful, fresh marinara sauce and artisan crust. This is it. Best pizza ever. read more

Small, hole-in-the-wall pizza place. This is not a sit-down restaurant, it has a few places to sit, but mainly a take out joint. Regardless, THIS PLACE IS FANTASTIC! We shared several different pizza slices, a stuffed slice, and a spinach roll, all were wonderful and flavorful. The owner is running the kitchen, he is hard working and super friendly. Highly recommend Il Bambini! read more

Real New York style pizza made with very professional attention to quality. Sauce! Mozzarella! Thin crust! The owner has been slinging pizza since age 14 ...30 years now...and paid close attention to his his craft. Lucky us, he's brought his gift South. Mostly a take out place, but there are 3 small tables where my family sat and watched the staff work the Saturday night rush and chatted up the owner. Nice cashier service and a fast moving delivery driver, too. Stopped in as a detour from skiing back to Charlotte. read more
