After tasting their olive oil and cooking with it I can't buy the crap Wally World sells. The staff is always sweet to us and always asks about our family members which I really appreciate the kindness. It's very cute and well organized, you can taste oils and other things they offer. I could not recommend a better place to go for olive oil and balsamic vinegar! You can taste and try the oils and vinegars. I mix them right there in the store and taste them to find the best combination for what I am looking for. I make my own salad dressing and sandwich dressings. The only thing that I would caution you about- if someone asks you for help- say no thank you! If you don't, you are at risk of being yelled at and or harassed. I had a good experience here. The bartender was really nice and really helpful. You can sample all of the oils and vinegars, which I recommend you definitely should! They have some amazing flavors. They also have many different sizes for purchase. This is also a wine bar, which is awesome. They have a large selection. There is some outdoor and indoor seating. It's comfortable and a nice place to relax. I would highly recommend stopping in here if you have time. It's a nice place, very welcoming environment. read more

I have been a regular customer of this store on the occasion where I have enough money to spend in this store. I typically have a very pleasant experience with the employees and enjoy tasting some of their new flavors, even if I cannot afford one currently. I have never had a problem doing this and an employee has never made a comment about this. However, today an employee was very rude to me, my boyfriend, and my sister. I was introducing the two of them to the store since my boyfriend enjoys cooking. We had tasted two flavors because they were ones I had already tried previously to cook with and wanted to show it to them. An employee came to us and said "if you are going to be tasting, you need to be purchasing. We are not a tasting store," and continued to give us nasty side glances and stare at us as we tried to continue looking through the store. Never once have I been approached by an employee in such a disrespectful manner. I will not be returning here and do not recommend this place to anyone who can not afford a small bottle of olive oil for $15 and does not want to be judged based on their physical appearance, as we were dressed more casually and have darker complexions. read more

Okay, so we've all seen those little mall kiosks and strip mall boutique stores that sell just oil and vinegar. We may snicker and say "Jeez, how do they stay open?!", because I get mine by the gallon at Sam's Club. With a little arm twisting (my arm), I went into the Natural Olive. Okay, I must admit I totally changed my mind! It was like visiting a nano brewery, except they infuse flavor into oils and vinegar! So many pretty shiny tanks! Samples galore including 15 year old Balsamic! Although, you can argue that you can alter olive oil yourself to make a dressing, the work has already been done for you and in combinations you wouldn't think of. My favorite vinegar was hands down the white balsamic with grapefruit. My favorite olive oil was infused with garlic. Super concentrated - enough garlic for an Italian to say, "Hey, do you smell garlic?" Now, would I pay $12.99 for a 200ml bottle? No, not, all the time. But now and then, yes, as a treat or maybe as part of a gift basket for one of my foodie friends. read more

I just want to let EVERYONE know of the delightful shopping experience that you will have when you visit The Natural Olive on the "Square" in downtown Hickory! I must admit that the first time I walked into this charming shop, I was a fan of 'the bottled stuff" for my salad dressings! But with the education I received from the friendly staff, I am a devoted fan of these incredible extra virgin olive oils and balsamic vinegars. Not only do they taste so much better, but health wise, they are so good for you! After a couple of trips in, I actually earned a free bottle! The shop also has many local products such as flour sack towels,honey,cutting boards and so much more. It's going to be my Christmas shopping destination, for sure! read more
